More than 425 riders gathered for the first round of the Spanish DH Series. A blazing sun, tons of dust, a smashed track, perfect organization, the best riders of the moment and a devoted public have made this twenty-third edition, one of the best races ever.
This year the quality of the competition has raised to a whole new level, top riders from the World Cup circuit have joined for the first official race of the season, and everyone was hungry for the victory. Big names such as Danny Hart, Matthew Simmonds, Marc Beaumont, Cedric Gracia, Remi Thirion, Markus Pekoll, Laurie Greenland, Manon Carpenter, Myriam Nicole… the list is quite long.
Danny Hart from MS-Mondraker took the win over Marc Beaumont (Madison-Saracen) in a really tight fight. Florent Payet from VoulVoul Racing made it to the third position, followed by the Spanish Edgar Carballo from Mondraker-Vadebicis. The Spanish Champion Toni Ferreiro ended up fifth.
In women, Manon Carpenter (Madison-Saracen) got to the top spot after a crash from Myriam Nicole (Commençal-Vallnord) in the last corner, who was 2nd. The third spot was for Marine Cabirou (VoulVoul Racing).
Nik Nestoroff (Intense Factory Racing) finished 2nd junior in a really close fight with the French rider Vigé Gaëtan from the Commençal-Vallnord, less than a second has been the gap between the two. Third was Jose Carlos Orihuela (Mondraker-Vadebicis).
