Despite various shows across Europe over the past two years, the production of the new film brought the team together for an extended period. The Young gun from Austria, Fabio Wibmer joined Danny MacAskill, Duncan Shaw, and Ali Clarkson at their Glasgow base to film in a warehouse on the outskirts of the city.

With just a few days to get the clip he needed at the start of the production, it was up to Fabio to get the ball rolling.

“When Danny, Duncan and Ali asked me to be part in the new Drop and Roll video I knew that there was something big in the making. When filming with these guys, there is definitely pressure to come up with some good and creative lines, but in the end I was pretty happy with the tricks I managed to pull. The whole project has definitely given me some inspiration for new videos and ideas.”

Fresh off the back of two successful clips shot in Barcelona and Cardiff at the beginning of the year, veteran Ali Clarkson was keen to pick up where he left off.

“To be able to take part in projects like this is a great opportunity for me. It was great fun dressing up and acting like an idiot with the guys and everyone managed to outdo themselves riding wise. I can't wait to see people's reactions to the video; it's a little different from the norm. I hope we can do something like this again.”

For team manager and rider, Duncan Shaw, the video marked a massive challenge from both a riding and production perspective.

“This has definitely been the hardest yet most rewarding production I have ever been a part of and after talking about this for so long it is awesome to finally release it to the world. I have never produced or ridden in a project on this scale so it has definitely been a steep learning curve, but in the end it has definitely been worth it.“

After several years of producing solo content, having the opportunity to work on a project with a team of riders was a different ball game for Danny MacAskill.

“I am so flipping excited about this clip. It has been a long time coming and I managed to pull a couple of tricks, which have been on my mind for years. After performing live shows for years, we wanted to finally introduce Drop and Roll to the world with a bang so we knew we would have to think outside the box and come up with something different and I think we have just about managed that.”

The Drop and Roll team seen in Glasgow United Kingdom on the 14th of July 2015 by Rutgar Pauw

After impressing on previous projects as a camera operator Danny and Duncan felt This Is Drop and Roll marked the perfect time for Robbie Meade of Mount Creative to take a director’s role.

“I’ve worked with Danny as Movi/Steadycam operator on Imaginate and Epecuen. It was a massive deal for me to be given the director’s role. I definitely felt the pressure to deliver on this but once the filming started it all went pretty smoothly and I am proud of what we have done.“

The Drop and Roll team have spent the last two years performing their live street trial shows across Europe at events like Red Bull Air Race (UK), Eurobike (GER) and Riva Bike Festival (ITA). The next bookings are already coming in and the first show in 2016 is announced for January 6th in Sheffield, UK. The team also recently appeared for the first time outside of Europe in Cape Town (RSA) during the Engen Cycle in the City festival. They hope to make their live shows across the Atlantic as well in the near future. Anyone interested in booking the Drop and Roll team can email: dropandroll@rasoulution.com.

Produced by Danny MacAskill and Duncan Shaw.
Directed by Robbie Meade.
Additional Filming: Dave Mackison and Paul Macdonald.

  • + 3
 was thinking the same thing
  • + 5
I want to know how many times they fucked that up before nailing it...
  • + 1
It's the power slide. It is the most powerful move in a rockers arsenal according to Kyle Gass

The forced perspective shots of the R/C helicopter had me cracking up... especially when the band ran out of it and got into their rig. Nicely executed.
  • + 13
 That was an rc helicopter?!?!
  • + 9
Before I get neg propped that was sarcasm but yeah that was pretty cool
  • + 63
 Toes on the keyboard. Gold.
  • + 9
Everything was gold. That was the best video...ummm maybe ever. Funny and awesome bike skillz.
  • + 3
I died at that part. so good
  • + 17
Am I imagining things or is the song a more metal version of the Fantasy Factory theme song?

The knee slide is the most ridiculous thing.
  • + 8
Guessing you weren't listening to too much music in the early 80's. That's the original song by Aldo Nova. Not sure who did the Fantasy Factory less metal version.
  • + 3
I wasn't listening to any music in the 1980's Wink Better read up on my 80's music then.
  • + 8
Just imagine hair playing the guitar and you've got it
  • + 2
@timlake If you like this you'll love STEEL PANTHER.
  • + 15
 Their riding goes to 11!
  • + 15
 Rob Fuckin Halford!
  • + 10
Something tells me this video makes McDuff go apeshit.
  • + 8
First comment. I'd like to see the uncut version of that over the keyboard - toes playing the piano - back on the bike segment Smile
  • + 5
I should have been practicing whips on my BMX back in the day instead of chasing girls on the roller rink while Aldo Nova was booming on the sound system...but it's all good...now I shred brown pow in BC and listen to Aldo Nova on my Bluetooth speaker! 80's Canadian Hair Rock!!
  • + 9
This was like a plate of nachos... So cheesy yet so good.. Well done!
  • + 8
Amazing. The whole time I was either giggling at the jokes and the hair or going "Whaaaat" at the tricks.
  • + 4
I appreciate these guys trying to take a different angle, but I find extravagant shit like this just so unimpressive. Watching Danny tear it up on the street or wherever looks way more gnarley. Could watch way back home over and over. Im unlikely to even recommend this to a friend.
  • + 5
Loved it, from the moment the RC chopper appeared, poking fun at all the high budget Red Bull Media House snowboarding flicks, I had a massive grin on. Quality cheese with a large side order of 80s hair.
  • + 5
Lots of fun spirited wins here: the female-distracted nut crusher, piano key tapping, Rob Halford guest appearance and best of all the "it's just a fantasy" BikrFox front flip.
  • + 7
Rob Halford!, Knee slide, Aldo Nova..Yessss!!!!
  • + 6
 The helicopter killed me.
  • + 6
 Rock out with your lockout...
  • + 2
That just made me smile. Another superb edit, shows that 'Big Deal' MacMadskill doesn't take himself too seriously, but certainly takes his riding very seriously. The knee slide! Awesome.
  • + 5
 The Five Ten Keyboard Move!
  • + 4
A new Danny Mac edit always has me smiling . . . . this one had me pissing meself laughing - Pure quality !!
  • + 4
when Danny gets "junked" by that other guy's back wheel...I know it was fake but I still nearly spit my coffee out
  • + 4
Every time I hear crud like Justin Bieber I want 80's music. ...
  • + 3
Can you got back and put a Judas Priest track on it? I'd really appreciate it.
  • + 4
I am Crankful for this video.
  • + 8
that synth jump was a Key component to the storyline
  • + 5
i feel the kneed to slide in here with a pun
  • + 1
OK im going to make a theme video. In a stripper club. Plenty of scantily clad women twisting and gyrating. Oh yeah ill do a wheelie drop off the stage. Cause this was cheesy!

@carfreak2000 McAsk has never been about "bland and serious" but rather about finesse, style and humour, even in that first epic vid of his (the ad for the employment agency IIRC). Watch any other of his vids (but Akrigg's too) with no volume and you get a sense of flow, technique and all that goody good stuff. Not this time around. Love McAsk, but methinks he should refrain from this kinda stuff. My 2 euro cents' worth. Peace.
  • + 3
A VERY good material! Kudos for the approach and all the tricks done - PERFECT execution!!!
  • + 4
 This was epic. Loved it.
  • + 1
for all of us who dream of being that good at something whilst still being able to have a laff with it - we salute you the gods of drop and roll!
  • + 1
That was AMAZING!!! Combining hair metal with mountain bikes had to be a winner. Some truly great moves in there also obviously! I enjoyed this more than Kalidescope lol!
  • + 2
I was at the 02 arena once , was so busy I had to piss in a paper towel bin
  • + 3
4:33 knee slide makes every bit of cheesiness worth it.
  • + 2

  • + 2
 This is perfect.
  • + 2
 hhhhhhmmmmm.....
  • + 1
Danny's world, Danny's world, party time, excellent!
  • + 1
Considering everyone loves watching these, why does no one ride it?
  • + 8
Because it is really hard and when you aren't good a day's riding street trials is a day of failing at things and hurting yourself.
  • + 1
mac askill is next level!! cool to see wibmer get some fame too!
  • + 1
