You guys have a bright future ahead of you.
  • 6 0
 in association with specialights
  • 2 1
You guys sure birghtened up my day with these "light" jokes.
  • 1 0
Whoever did the color correction was on more than a few tabs of acid..
  • 1 1
Anybody else want this to be a full length film?
  • 152 1
Very cool. Just a couple of dudes hiking into the desert, climbing up a mountain, dropping some acid and riding home in the dark. Awesome riding and cinematography.
  • 3 6
I didn't realize how similar the Matt's riding styles are!
  • 151 1
Absolutely incredible that we get to watch this kind of quality content for free
  • 18 3
If you didn't pay for the product, you are the product. 30+ people worked on this thing.

As ads go though, I loved it. Very slick production. Makes me wanna holler at phillips for some color changing led lighting for the trails.
  • 10 1
For sure, huge thanks to SweetGrass for putting this out for free, awesome work.
  • 3 1
This is not free. We pay every time we buy a product advertised. All videos are advertising content.
  • 5 1
We buy product anyway, and SweetGrass just as easily could have made us pay 10 bucks for this
  • 2 0
Pretty sue that they got a fair bit of money from Philips to promote their TVs, but I'm overall in favour of this way of doing things.
  • 37 3
I thought ENVE rims were cool...
  • 33 2
 TRON would be proud
  • 4 0
I guess it´s tron on mtb or maybe this is how looks do mtb on pandora planet
  • 29 16
Rowdier music and this video would be dope
  • 43 12
I liked it but almost fell asleep at my desk with that music and all the slow mo, mountain bikers are fast (the good ones are at least) so why slow them down? I think I counted like three shots that were in actual real time.
  • 49 1
I think because this isn’t the standard mountain biking gnar shred video. Sweetgrass probably weren’t going for the Caldwell-style rowdy look.

Personally, I found the slower speeds really allowed me to appreciate more the grace of the riding going on, as well as the astounding composition and colouring of the shots. In this respect, I thought it was even better than Afterglow (if that’s possible).
  • 9 1
I'll forgive the slo-mo on account of practicality, I mean how many sq miles of desert would they have to light up to get that much video at full speed?!
  • 5 1
looks like it was produced by a Euro ad agency to sell TV's. Rowdy doesn't sell TV's. Beauty shots do.
  • 3 3
I dont necessarily hate slowmo, I think there is a time and place for it but what other sport uses slowmo for almost an entire 6 minute video? Look at BMX or skateboarding as examples, they use it very rarely but yeah this is an advertisement to sell tvs and it is not just for mountain bikers so I kinda get it.
  • 2 0
 @MDRipper I have a couple examples,
Skateboarding - www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAtSaJo8WQ4
Same song but surfing - www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivM_iMtbV4A

You're right it works sometimes and when it does it's pretty dope. I think it was great in this case especially if they're trying to convey how vivid colors will be on the tv they're attempting to sell.
  • 1 0
@cheeselad I am SO happy you threw the FF intro on there I thought of that as soon as he called out my other passion: skateboarding. they weren't making this video for mountain biking. they did for the cinematography to play at bestbuy on their demo units!
  • 1 0
 The Machine - Solar Corona
Maybe?
Works for me.
  • 15 2
Who needs EPO when you can have peyote?
  • 4 0
 Roadies.
  • 12 1
Only Miles and Hunter had to walk to the shoot, man aggy is getting the MJ treatment lately.
  • 10 0
How I'd imagine biking on ACID! Stunning videography. Loved the shot at 4:00... WOW!
  • 3 0
So seriously... what lighting/LED products are used to make this happen? Assuming these are actual Philips LEDs at work? Even in the slowmo's the strips looked perfectly straight on the rims (like a tape or other strip)... who's got the know-how on this one? Cool.
  • 1 0
maybe similar to the one you could buy in walmart. instead of using one they use two for each wheel. www.brightz-ltd.com
  • 5 0
Wow! An insane amount of work went into that piece... Great work guys! Always coming up with creative ideas and pulling it off!!!
  • 7 0
Sponsel is gonna love complaining about this one

 AvatarMtb
  • 8 3
My 8 month old loved this video
  • 3 1
 yeah disneyland mickeymouse mode
  • 1 0
this is work of art....it looks like on the moon or some other cool looking planet...i didn't wanted it to end...after i checked out the trailer a month ago i started to ride at night in the woods with 10 LED lights on me....for all of you who saying that the afterglow is better i remind you that this is PB and yes it's cool but i bet if the Darklight wasn't created you would complaint about it
  • 1 0
Awesome. Really good to see something different in the MTB film space, and it's also great to see a big brand like Philips recognising actions sports as a good source of content to help them create ads - that means more money into the industry for athletes, potentially more big event sponsorship from brands like Philips, which is again a good thing! On top of that, more exposure to our sport for non-riders has to be a bonus - who knows who it might inspire to get out on a bike and try MTBing?
  • 1 0
I think this vid is beauti eh . How come some videos like this don't have the usual option to add to favorites ? I would like this one to be added to my favorites . Sure hope this crew makes another project with these applications and concepts, but a whole movie not just ten minutes . Thanks to all involved with this project . Sincerely , Stellar thru n thru
  • 3 1
Time to go buy some Mushrooms and watch this a few times..... or a thousand, guess it will depend if I remember to stop watching it.
  • 2 0
was anyone else confused by why Hunter and Myles were in the first and last shots but Aggy wasn't? Just thought that was a weird
  • 5 0
They were hiking to Aggy's place?
  • 1 0
 He was busy hunting?
  • 4 1
Video was sponsored by Specialized, Aggy rides a Kona. The big S doesn't want to show any other brand's bike in a shot where you can read the decals.
  • 1 0
yet the first bike brand I was able to read was Kona lol!
  • 3 1
I'll bet anyone here a jar of maple syrup and a pound of back bacon that the bikes they were riding in the first 3 min of the video were lighter than any of your rides.
  • 1 0
 You mean pushing?
  • 4 2
meh, had more potential tbh, I loved it but I could have been better with more of the night colourful shots and less hiking (just being a critic)
  • 2 0
"Meh" followed by "I loved it". Split personalities?
  • 2 0
This is amazing feels like a dream i want to ride my bike there or just be riding at night and the world magically lights up and my bike.
  • 2 0
This was pretty sweet! It's to bad it only had 6 minutes of riding Frown I would have loved to see a whole movie designed around this lighting effect tup
  • 4 1
That was soooo rad! Cool to see Blackrock too!
  • 1 0
Where's that jump through the tree up there? Only thing I didn't recognize...
  • 1 0
That is from another place for sure. I know Blackrock like the back of my hand haha and that is not there
  • 2 0
Didn't think it was there but that place I swear changes every time I go out there.
  • 9 7
This was awesome but the ski/snowboard versions worked better i thought

They mentioned the Tom Tom bandit action cam as a sponsor in the beginning, yet there were no POV clips.
WAS UP??????????????????
  • 2 0

  • 1 0

  • 4 2

  • 4 3
Entire thing was amazing, but 4:58-5:40 was completely awe inspiring. Also Flume was a great choice of music

  • 2 0
Drop Acids + Shrooms + Late Night Shred = Darklight
  • 2 1
Awesome! That was A LOT of effort. Brown pow and now this. It's been a good year for mtb flicks
  • 1 0
I COMPLETELY forgot this was in the works after the trailer came out. Best Tuesday surprise in a while!

www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJ0bAAA-QQU
  • 6 0
Well...they’re both by Sweetgrass, whereas your phrasing makes it sound like this production ‘copied’ Afterglow. They’re certainly different; I preferred Darklight.
  • 1 0
Form a cinematic perspective this video is very awesome.

At times the features look un-real/edited, especially towards the end of the video.

Props to the producers and the riders.
  • 7 8
