Some people take being on brand more seriously than others...

Hope

A new dawn for Core and for Hope. Which came first, the bike or the reg plate?

Silverfish

UK distributor Silverfish (named after a punk band not the bug) is celebrating its 20th anniversary with this custom Mondraker.

The bike is customised with decals under vinyl

Two years in development (the distributors jokingly told us), the Stealth edition is exactly the same as the current carbon Fatbar with one very important difference, it's black. There's only going to be a limited run of 800 bars though, so don't expect them to stick around long.

Tinker Juarez's signature grip, the Dread Lock, was on display at Core. It's a large diameter grip (34mm) designed for extra padding on longer rides. The grips is made of O.D.I's A.I.R.E, a closed cell foam that will not soak up water while still offering decent damping.

GT

A classic Hans Rey GT Zaskar on display at the CSG stand.

Cannondale

It was a good to get a look at the throwback F-Si framest in the flesh as we'd only seen catalogue images so far.

IXS

photo

Core was our first chance to see the IXS Trigger helmet in the flesh. It's a step up from the TrailRS helmet and features a double inmould shell, a three position visor with plenty of room for goggles and plenty of ventilation.

I've never wanted a custom paint/finish bike so much as that Mondraker. Oh gawddamn!

Looks like a Roscop deck from the early 80’s
  • 6 1
Nice lines too, unlike the others they put out. The front end looks a lot better, with the straighter top tube. The fork lowers should have been left alone though.
  • 2 0
Why dont they go full production on these !???!
  • 9 0
That paint job speaks to the 14 year old in me, nay screams. I love it.
  • 6 0
@won-sean-animal-chin: Totally. I had one back in the day (I'm 44...old Big Grin ). Man I wish I still had it for wall art.
  • 2 0
@bman33: nice! Be worth some $ today. Always wanted one. Bought a sims jeff Phillips that yr but I preferred my buddies Hosoi. Roscop was the best graphics though I think
  • 3 0
I’d be scared to ride it.
  • 5 0
Sorry my ocd is buggin' - Roskopp ...and I totally want that Mondraker.
  • 2 0
@h82crash: thought I was butchering it. Thanks , was bugging me too
  • 2 0
Painted my Enduro in a similar fashion 2 years ago Smile

@won-sean-animal-chin: gold star for that bitchin username...The search is over Smile
  • 2 0
@won-sean-animal-chin: yes it is so SANTA CRUZ spirit here!
  • 1 0
@bman33: I had one too. Mom sold it at a garage sale years later for something like 20 bucks. :-(
  • 1 0
 @kabanosipyvo: Man, that sucks!
  • 39 1
Gen 1 Crank Bros acrylics. Totally unreliable. Likely to break after only a few days. But.....don't worry folks, they'll have 2-4 more generations that are totally redesigned but equally unreliable to disappoint you with in the coming years.
  • 2 1
I knew I was not the only one thinking of something like this! Big Grin
  • 1 0
But they have a great warranty so they'll always mail you a new set!
  • 32 0
Are you sure the GT wasn't stolen? CHECK THE VIN!
  • 6 0
 no way...
  • 11 1
 @oneillst: No Rey
  • 27 3
 Renthal finally got smart
  • 6 3
Style /fashion is all subjective. Plenty of folks I know like the gold of Renthal. My are the black with the only gold part being the clamp area. All good.
  • 9 0
Black should be the normal color and have the turd green be limited. I cringe when I look at my bars, but they are the only bar I like. I’ve been asking for black for years...
  • 10 2
@nuttypoolog: Green? You see 'green' in the Renthal gold? I think you have been riding too many fat motos...your judgement is clouded.
  • 6 1
I see bronze with a metallic pea tint.
  • 3 0
 @nuttypoolog: You should try Chromag
  • 2 0
 @nuttypoolog: Big Grin maybe hibiscus?
  • 1 0
@THE-GUNT: We both have used Chromag. Great bars, but way too stiff. nuttypoolog likes break my stones on certain things.
  • 3 0
@bman33: Renthal's colors come from their ano process. They hard ano their bits. The only colors that can be achieved by that process are shades of black/bronze/grey. That being said, they've come up with the hard ano process that gets them that specific gold color, which is based off the material and thickness.

Hard anodizing is much more resilient to wear based on the thicker/deeper penetration of the oxide layer as well as it being more uniform and consistent. But, the process is more involved, takes longer, which will increase cost to produce
  • 3 1
 I love Renthal greenish gold!
  • 4 0
@krashDH85: except they don’t ano their carbon, which can be any damn color...
  • 1 1
@Abacall: Yes that is a true statement, I was just referring to their Al pieces.
  • 1 0
I personally hate all the flashy/fugly colors and heavily branded components and just mtb gear as a whole. This is the best I've seen! No idea why it's a limited run, theres definitely a market for this color.
  • 1 0
@crustpizza: and that's why it's a limited run. To make us pay more for the kit without all the fugly branding splashed all over it.
  • 20 0
Bet those Crank Brothers nails will break too.
  • 1 0
Nah, that looks like gel polish. Takes a Dremel to get that stuff off (ask me how I know).
  • 14 0
Did someone check the serial number on that GT? Poor Hans...
  • 8 0
ODI my gorilla palms thank you
  • 1 0
Heck yes! Finally another option other than rogue. Rogue rules but another option is welcome.
  • 1 0
Hopefully they will come out with the Dread Lock Rasta colorway!
  • 7 0
 That Mondraker looks radical!
  • 1 0
 love that top tube.
  • 5 0
Something about the black outline decals on orange forks. Can't stand it. Couple DH bikes ran that last year. Shoulda used a gloss black lower.
  • 1 0
They should go back to Fox bauhaus grey/ white and leave orange for the Marzocchi Orange Smile
  • 2 0
@FrEeZa: I like that color on some bikes. But the shade of orange FOX is using has completely changed the MTB industry and now every manufacturer is running bikes that match up with it.

And the marzo orange was metallic so maybe there's room for that in the future? I personally like the red. There's a history of red in marzo as well. My Jr. T is red.... yeah I said IS, not was. lol.
  • 1 0
@onemanarmy: The Junior T looks awesome! And I know, it was a special color for the anniversary, but it was a Marzocchi thing, you know. Today's generation of consumer bred children will never know that special feeling of one of the last good forks, that also came in Italiano orange. As far as red goes, they did also have the RAC in red, but still, Rock Shox was always set on red.
P.S. You are 100% correct about the color matching to "fit in", which is as BMW/Audi/Mercedes as a bike manufacturer could get.

Cheers!
  • 1 0
@FrEeZa: What about the green or purple?
  • 1 0
@onemanarmy: Touche'! You got me there!
  • 2 0
Hey, your comment was cool and thank you for the more positive comment Smile the comments about my gender / sexuality are the ones that are lame. I’m proud to work for crankbrothers, I love the brand and if some others don’t like that then that’s their issue.
  • 5 0
That's one sexy Mondy right there! Razz
  • 1 0
That Zaskar was about the year I got into MTB, and the only reason why I bought a Norco Beretta that year was because it had a yellow fork like that thing.. Mind you is was a old RST 281 with about 55mm of elastomer travel, but it was 55mm more travel than the other kids had.. frig I'm old...
  • 3 0
The Renthal bars are looking sweet. And the custom Mondraker is pretty rad looking
  • 4 1
Spin wheels were dope back in the day! Pro core bike show
  • 2 0
Those Renthal bars may be the only bike-part for which I ever pay full MSRP.
  • 3 0
What about stealth Apex stem for those bars?!
  • 1 0
Am I the only one having an irrational urge to build an XC bike just so I can ride the Cannondale I grew up drooling over in magazines?
  • 4 2
i wish they were making more of fatbars.
  • 2 0
Why, buy one now...get one before they are sold out!
  • 2 0
Trade you a left nut for the mondrAker?
  • 2 0
 Mondraker.....like a BOSS!
  • 1 0
Those stealth fat bars are seriously nice, shame they are carbon because they would probably last me a month if I was lucky
  • 1 0
I've been giving some some a fairly descent amount of abuse over the last 12 months and they are still going strong, unless your over torquing your bolts they should stand up to whatever you can throw at them.
  • 1 0
Mondraker should be called the "white Zombie" or la sexocristo" then get sewed by Chris Farleys agent !!!
  • 2 1
 "Zazker?" thought it was "Zazkar...
  • 1 1
 Yep.
  • 15 0
And here i thought it was Zaskar.
  • 3 4
 Zascar
  • 1 0
oil how about covebikes get them back please in the uk please
  • 5 4
Why does Renthal do the things they do? 800? Why only 800?
  • 15 1
If they were 780mm they'd have made 20 less
  • 6 0
How would they pull off the 779.99?
  • 2 1
Bigger hands are better for certain things
  • 1 0
 Playing Basketball or swimming faster?
  • 1 0
@aljoburr: Holding more things, such as limes.
  • 2 1
Is core bike really.this boring and pointless??
  • 1 0
Is that the same LuK German brand that makes car clutches?
  • 1 0
 That GT is beautiful 3
  • 2 0
Is it the last bike Hand Rey has left? Bad joke aside, I still can't believe he got hit twice by those dick sack bike thieves.
  • 1 0
Damn phone autocorrecting Hans. Couldn't be them fat thumbs.
  • 1 0
with the amazing toys drill instructor chain device and kore stem and bar! wet dream of the 90ies the zaskar! still prefered the 93-95 model with the slimmer downtube and all terra decals. ball burnished or turquoise was king!
  • 1 0
Of all the bikes I have had and sold, the one I regret parting with the most was my red ano Zaskar. Same as the one in the photo, but without Spin wheels.
  • 14 13
 She's got man hands.
  • 11 4
 He's got she fingernails?
  • 16 2
Or perhaps she rides and wrenches bike rather than doing manicures!
  • 2 1
 Dont be scared!
  • 18 0
Just surprised those Crank Bros. fingernails haven't broken.
  • 1 1
 Maybe it IS a man?
  • 1 1
Or, a man, that used to be a woman, dressed as a woman.
  • 3 1
@NickBit: I do indeed ride, I also worked a whole trade show, set up and dismantled the stand and personally I think all my hands need are a nice day off, some time on my bike and a touch of moisturiser. I don’t think hard working hands = man hands
  • 1 0
@NickBit: oh so she's into womem
  • 1 0
@hwilso10: Sorry, I didn’t mean to imply that your hands need a manicure.

I didn’t particularly like the initial “man hands” comment and was trying to point out that it was a bit of a dick thing to say. But yeah, I certainly can see that I left it pretty open to interpretation.
My bad!
