Deity Updates Highside Handlebar, Circuit Clamp & Speedtrap Saddle, Introduces Thinnest Grip Yet - Eurobike 2021

Deity has introduced four new products at Eurobike: a new grip called the Slimfit that's Deity's thinnest grip yet, a 35mm version of the Highside Handlebar, a 38.6mm version of the Circuit clamp to fit Specialized bikes, and a chrome version of the Speeedtrap Saddle.

Slimfit Grip

Like Deity's other grips, the Slimfit grip aims to provide the right balance of stickiness and durability, using the same TRC+ compound used on the Lockjaw and Supracush models, but in a tiny diamond pattern that keeps the bulk down. Deity's thinnest grip to date, the Slimfit is 133.75mm long and 30.5mm in diameter.

The Slimfit Grip comes in 12 color options and will become available October 15 for $23.99 USD.

Highside 35 Handlebar

Deity's classic dirt jump and slopestyle bar now comes in a 35mm clamp option and an 800mm length, after previously only being available at 760mm x 31.8mm. The aluminum handlebar has a 9 degree backsweep and a 5 degree upsweep, aiming to put riders in a comfortable upright position.

Like the original 31.8mm version, the Highside 35 comes in 50mm and 80mm rise options and is available in seven different colors.

The Highside 35 bar will become available September 15 for $84.99 USD.

Circuit Clamp

The Circuit Clamp has an oversized bolt for extra security, a low stack height for maximum clearance, and comes in four sizes: 31.8mm, 34.9mm, 36.4mm, and now 38.6mm to fit Specialized models. The CNC machined piece is available in a full range of anodized colors.

The new Circuit Clamp will become available October 15 for $16.99 USD.

Speedtrap Saddle

Deity's all-mountain, enduro, and DH saddle, the Speedtrap, is now available in a chrome color option alongside the other nine possible colors. The saddle is made in collaboration with SGD Components using mid-density foam built on hollow chromoly rails. The saddle has Kevlar sides, a synthetic embossed cover, and edges that are designed to flex for pedaling comfort.

The new Speedtrap Saddle will become available October 15 for $74.99 USD.

 Aftermarket seatpost clamps that weigh more than stock Specialized clamps? Believe there are people who will pay extra to disimprove on stock?

 @Veloscente: I work at a Specialized dealer and I've seen a ton of those 38.6 clamps crack from over-torquing! Previously, Hope and Wolf Tooth were the only readily available replacements, so I'd say a $16.99 option is a welcome addition to the marketplace!

 @Veloscente: Weight doesn't equal quality. I would definitely pay extra for a heavier, more stylish clamp.

 @Padrone3: @ethanshredz: no amount of "quality" or added weight will prevent idiots with zero mechanical competence from monkey-fisting components to death. Those are three totally separate variables. I own clamps from Tune, Bike Yoke, Ultralight, and KCNC, and the smartest designs on the market all manage to be lighter, stronger, *and* more stylish than stock. Those who will pay extra and pork up a bike just for a bit of shiny ano remind me of the story of how they used to catch chimps by putting a shiny penny in a jar...

 @ethanshredz: I spent several days of a road trip nursing a half way broken one of those 38.6 clamps because replacements are so hard to find.

The Hope clamp that finally replaced it probably weighs 3x as much, but it's beautiful, and I 'm pretty sure it won't ruin a trip.

It's funny, I can't think of a single upgrade I've bought for a bike that's been lighter than stock - beefier tires, stronger rims, longer droppers, that hope clamp...

 To be honest it doesn't look like they put any ergonimic considerations into the saddle at all. Probably fine for DH but I'm not so sure about enduro/all mountain

 As @savagelake notes, sqlab who make maybe the best ergonomic saddles on the market don't need a channel...

 @FrothDog: Ergonomics is not a monolithic, one-design-fits all proposition. Width, curvature, shell flex, padding density, and even texture of the saddle cover all play at least as significant a role in how much time a given can spend on a design as presence / absence of channel. Presence of a channel is an absolute deal-killer for me: any kind of channel guarantees hot spots, numbness, and saddle sores on rides over 60 mins. Your mileage may vary.

 @ratedgg13: guess it depends on how you define a channel. SQlab absolutely has a pressure relieve depression. It doesn't extend all the way to the front, but its pretty prominent in the middle to back.

 I am beyond excited for the 80mm high sides in 800mm. I’ve been tempted to buy them in the past but didn’t think I could handle the reduced width compared to my pro taper 76’s. I will be getting my hands on one of these ASAP. Thank you deity for looking after those of us who like a tall bar.

 @mikekazimer: yah, I don’t quite get fat grips. They don’t size up barbells for the big guys in powerlifting. Hell, the deadlift bars, where grip is most paramount, are actually thinner. Maybe I just have Donald Trump hands, but for me, thinner is always better.

 @Poachninja: Pain management, after a stupid fall over a tree root, had this inflammation of the tendons in my hand, it pinches the nerve in my hand. This cause, if you believe it, both pain and numbing sensation which comes from hand, up through the arms and to the shoulder. Thin grips were the worse thing for me, all that vibration cause shooting pain up my arms, I have to let go of the handlebars and try to shake it off as I cycle otherwise my whole arm becomes numb. I tried Ergons but surprisingly it made my condition worse. Fat paws grips were god sent.

 @mikekazimer: what do you recommend for those into larger diameter grips? I tried Eastons larger size lock-ons but they weren’t terribly grippy.

 @sngltrkmnd: the cheapest solution is to look into fat bike grips. They tend to be bigger, for winter gloves.

Alternatively, I’ve been very happy with my Red Monkey Klämpz Lock-ons.

 @mikekazimer: Do you still run DeathGrip thins, or have you found something thinner that you like? I'm in the same camp as you on this.

I like Deity's grip patterns, but all their grips are too thick for my preferences. I saw the headline and was intrigued, but they're still fatter than the 29mm DMRs.

Most 2XL gloves are still webbing on my hands. I have stupid salad fingers.

I love Oury lockons though.

 Oury grips all day, they are sticky and comfortable. I see them on a lot of moto’s as well.

 @sngltrkmnd: I like the fattest Deity grips, their pattern and the material dampen really well and are very grippy. I always get the ones that have the same diamond pattern all the way around, then you can spin them as they wear out. The sweet spot is when you have a smooth part on the bottom where your fingers grip it is magical.

 @MDRipper: I rode oury since the 90’s but when they put all their prices up a couple of years ago after the lizard skins buy out, I wasn’t happy. Now my bikes run deity supracush or odi rogue. They cost me half what oury’s would.
