Despite the fact that most clothing brands now offer lightweight, breathable, durable and stylish kits, there's something about denim that simply refuses to quit in mountain biking. Whether that's slopestyle riders spinning and flipping in skin-tight jeans or
Johannes Von Klebelsberg shredding World Cup tracks in his blue Levis, for some riders it's not all about wicking stretch fabrics.
Ripton & Co is one company that still believes in the benefits of denim and, hot on the heels of its
tech jorts released in 2019, the brand now also offers performance overalls. Described as being able to, "hold up to the rigors of bikes, skis, or pouring a foundation," these overalls offer a warmer alternative to the brand's jorts and should have no problem holding up to the scuffs and scrapes that go hand in hand with mountain biking.
The overalls have an updated shape that is suited to bike riding and are made from a stretch denim that should keep them more comfortable when pedalling. The brand believes they can even be used for skiing on warmer days (25°F+), although they recommend wearing jorts under the overalls on colder mornings for extra crotch warmth.

Deal???????
Yeah well I'm a nevernude so I never take my jorts off so that's not a concern.
Speaking of the Dukes of Hazzard, anyone else think the dude in the first photo looks like Crazy Cooter?
These people aim high
PBR 30 Rack around $20 with tax
$125 gets you 180 PBR’s
You + 2 Buddies drink 6 beers each a night
That’s 10 nights of beer drinking after riding.
I’d say that’s much better value than some stretchy denim.
(p.s., I'm Canadian.)
My point is that liking more expensive beer or shitting on those who don't doesn't make you interesting.
@rrolly very kind of you! Hope to get to BC sometime.
Happy MLK day! We should clarify that the Drift Overalls were not designed specifically for cycling. We live in the mountains and use them for skiing, backcountry skiing, lounging, etc. (and they perform exceptionally well in these categories). A South African website dubbed them “biking Dungarees” which is a stretch, as they are built with a fleece-lined bi-component that is quite insular.
The women’s overalls do have a very tapered cut around the calve / lower leg and will work remarkably well for cooler days in the bike park / dirt jumping. The men’s cuff we have adjusted from the sample photos (featured here) to be more tapered and better for ripping around town without getting stuck in your chain. But again we designed these with our winter, off-the-bike months in mind. From a design perspective when we look at men’s overalls options we have classic workwear (heavy / stiff) and urban inspired (Levi’s / Urban) but nothing existed that took cues from our outdoor lifestyle, with both stretch, resilience, and style. We took inspo from modern ski technology with high-quality Duraflex buckles and elastic straps that hold up and don’t get cold in single digit weather. The Cosy denim represents the latest in what can be accomplished with hybrid fabric technology, and is the direction we’re pushing Ripton & Co. (to build performance denim products that are nothing like what else is out there). Sorry for any confusion. We were not approached by PinkBike regarding this press, fact checked, or solicited in any way.

Despite last year's release and the PB Comments disaster, you're still out and about making leg coverings. Nice job.
Bonus: no tundra violations so far.
What about the issue with riding in all jeans, which is the "nub" where the 4 panels overlap under your taint. Fine if you're the Denim Destroyer or doing slope style where you never sit down. What about the rest of us? I don't care for grinding up a climb on that.
And all you haters- how much did you spend on a Troy Lee Designs flannel shirt so you could look like you are a sick North Shore rider?
there are so many unworthy products / brands / (people) sticking around longer than they deserve due to the crazy COVID bike bump. Hope I can ride into 2022 without resorting to denim.
If I see another beard /mustache that belongs in the 1800's/ Islamic state recruitment camp with fine line tattoos and artisanal everything....
Goddamnit that's it! Wheres the Russian steroid doctors, I have the horse asthma, I'm dangerously undermuscled, my jawxis too small, and I really need some of that EPO!
I get denim isn't the best for high output sports especially in warmer temps but you have to admit tons of riders still wear denim shorts and pants while biking. Especially urban riders and DJ's
But my biggest gripe is why would you make the leggings baggy and long?! At least make it less baggy down the ankles and maybe sow the bottom cuffs so they look like they're cuffed but won't actually come undone during rowdier rides.
Instead of denim I would replace it with material more suited for riding but make it look denimish. But hey that's just my opinion.
So, Blue jeans WERENT a thing back in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 20s , but NOW they are ? LOFL !
Sht, i'm embarrassed , i was wearing jeans all those years while riding my bike and it WASN'T cool ?
If that bastard hadn't been so good and so fast this would never have been inflicted on us.
Rob Warner, this is on you pal as well!
