PRESS RELEASE: Descenders

Descenders, the extreme downhill freeriding game from development studio RageSquid and publishing label No More Robots, is now available on Xbox One as part of ID@Xbox Game Fest, with visuals enhanced for the Xbox One X, and Mixer Interactivity integration.

Descenders is downhill mountain biking for the modern era, with fast-paced extreme action that's easy to pick up, but difficult to master.

A deep physics system and tight controls allow players to string together incredible trick combos, as you make your way down the mountain and attempt to reach the bottom with as few scratches as possible.

Procedurally generated worlds mean that no two runs are ever the same, with special challenge nodes to discover and nerve-racking Boss Jumps that truly sort the casuals from the pros. But linger for too long and the sun will begin to set, forcing you to ride through the night to get the job done.

Descenders Xbox

As you ride, whip and scrub to victory, you'll unlock Crew Members who will provide special upgrades and mutators, allowing you to hone your run to your exact specifications. With over 3.5 billion levels to explore, dozens of mutators to bag, numerous hidden nodes, and a plethora of unlockable kits, helmets, bikes and accessories, Descenders is packed with many hours of content.

Descenders is also enhanced for Xbox One X, with crisper visuals made possible by the power of the X, while the game sports deep Mixer livestreaming interactive elements, allowing viewers to help or hinder the streamer while they play.

The PC version of Descenders on Steam has also been updated today with massive changes and content, to bring it in line with the Xbox release. Dubbed "The Rogue-Bike Update", this new download adds many more hours of gameplay to Descenders, with new maps to explore, and secrets to discover.

Does it work with Zwift and which trainers are supported?
  • + 15
Hey, to be honest we were only made aware of Zwift in the last month or so -- will definitely look into for the game though!
  • + 3
@NoMoreRobots: that would be rowdy and I love it
  • + 12
If only my CycleOps worked with 20mm axles ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  • + 1
That would be rad. Have leaderboards to go along with it, controls on bars ect

 @NoMoreRobots:
Hell yeah!
  • + 1
Don't we ride in luo of video games???
  • + 1
zwift would actually be made exciting aha...

Been playing this for a few weeks on PC and it's great, as sad as it sounds a would love it if it had real bikes/gear in it to upgrade too, would love to get my Tues in the game Smile Loving the new update that came out this week.

Hey Roester, thanks so much! We're actually talking to some real life bike companies right now, so watch this space Smile
  • + 5
@NoMoreRobots: Buying this when I get home tonight. Would love some real gear in there for sure.
  • + 7
Yeah that would be incredible. I could live my MTB dreams through this game. Would be super sick if there were recreations of iconic trails as well.

Forget riding I want to be a pale xbitch gamer.
  • + 1
@NoMoreRobots: Not sure if spending fake money on fake standards sounds better or worse then spending real money on fake standards.

Still gonna check it out - looks awesome!

So what your saying is to be or not to be an xbitch,,,,, very deep.
  • + 4
It's the opposite of my old Tony Hawk days, I can actually ride a bike but I'm sh*t at this game. It's still fun though
  • + 2
Would and probably will buy but please, just please raise the visor and give this wildboy some kneepads...
  • + 1
@NoMoreRobots: bought this last night on PC. Apart from getting used to the controls/physics - which seem pretty decent, I feel like the UI is a bit clunky and disjointed. Maybe I'm just old haha. Anyway, seems good so far! Cheers!

Would be cool to see different game modes. DH career mode with current roster of pros gear and bikes, enduro mode, rampage mode, urban Dh . Adjustable bike settings (suspension rebound and damping, spring stiffness, preload.) different bikes (hardtail, enduro, Dh - 26” or 29”) that really make a difference in feel depending on the riding style. And a track builder of course would be rad. Maybe simulated World Cup tracks too. I personally love when games focus on quality over quantity. With billions of tracks what are the odds all of them are amazing. Games like dirt 4 only have a handful of tracks but they all kick ass, monster energy SX relies on current years SX tracks and the track builder helps keep it fresh.

Career mode: start in Fontana as a grom. Then national races, pro grt then wc
  • + 6
The speed effects look pretty stupid, with emphasis placed on "going fast" and not necessary technical aspects of riding. MX vs ATX All Out is as close as it gets for offroad 2-wheel physics, and building off that platform for a DH/FR game could be easily done.

They should add an expansion pack to this game down the road when sales start to decline. Once purchased, every bike would then be an e-bike...you know, to make the game easier. I can already see sales of the expansion skyrocketing in Europe, but a lot of resistance to it in the USA as computer access issues for bike games is an increasingly contentious topic!

I've had this for PC for a while, and it's as close to the "Skate" series for MTB as you can get right now. Hope to see the addition of more tricks and maybe some non procedurally-generated levels in the future.
  • + 8
Hey, thanks so much! We *just* started adding non procedural levels to the game, although they are a secret that you have to find Smile
  • + 1
@NoMoreRobots: Thanks! Haven't had time to checkout the Roguebike update yet but looking forward to it.

Welcome to the PS2, that demo looks like it's from 2010 :/
  • + 3
More like early 2000-s. Plays like that too - boat physics all the way.

Real bikes, real clothing companies and real components... Career mode to rise through the ranks and get sponsors along the way to becoming world champion.

IF I CAN'T THROW WATER BOTTLES AND RIDE A SHEEP I'M NOT BUYIN IT but actually I might buy it BUT PLEASE WATER BOTTLES AND SHEEP

Had a few games of this on the Xbox this weekend. It's a lot of fun, but needs lots of work still. The tricks seem really limited (flips or spins only), and the rider is really floaty and doesn't seem to have any weight to him at all. Maybe an option to switch between more realistic physics and the floaty arcade style would work? Thinking Skate vs. Tony Hawk gameplay. I like the idea of the randomly generated courses, but they're so skinny - Some nice wide SSX-style courses with different lines available would be a great addition. Only played the trial so far, but will definitely be buying this. The splash screen says this is early access -Do you have a list of things you're going to add somewhere?
  • + 1
@NoMoreRobots: Hi! the idea is brilliant, though the gameplay is extremely complicated, at least on a PC. The lightest touch to environment means fail, thats disappointing... Some maps are very difficult also, almost unplayable with these physics... And I think that player should be respawned at the top, no checkpoints needed... Don't now what version was it, one of the earliest I think... I stuck in the forest, impossible to pass for me, those logs across the trail are crap...
  • + 1
It's really more of a bike park game, but yeah it's looking like it has some serious potential:

got it on my mac but controller doesn't work using a keyboard is a pain in the a... this was about 2 month ago and I gave up I ll have another go tonight...
  • + 4
Hey nobrain, try running the game through Steam Big Picture mode -- this seems to help a lot of Mac users with controller issues!
  • + 1
I know it's quite a hassle but try bootcamp. You'll probably get better fps too.
  • + 1
@virtumedia: agreed, my advice to Mac Owners who want to game, is to install BootCamp onto an SSD in a USB3.0 enclosure. I get much better performance that way without impacting my precious local storage. It's fiddly and unsupported, but I've had no issues with it.

Nomorerobots is learning “some” pinkbike audience is hard to please.
  • + 2
He doesn't wear a neck brace because his neck is so long Leatt can't guarantee it would work!

Been waiting for an MTB game for awhile, didn't realise this was out on PC, i'll give it a blast tonight. Any idea if this works through a steam link?
  • + 1
Hey hey, it does indeed Smile
  • + 2
@NoMoreRobots any chance of a ps4 pro version? missing the biggest set of games as ps4 has outsold xbox one 2:1
  • + 3
Switch with motion control/giro to lean and manual the bike
  • + 1
@NoMoreRobots - Any plans to develop for/port to PS4 Pro, or is that too much of a pain in the ass?
  • + 2
 @nomorerobots VR version please
  • + 2
Here's a tip. Ride a real bike. Its more fun
  • + 2
just download PIPE by BMX Streets
  • + 2
Physics system?? The rider in the video just did a 360 at 40kph
  • + 5
Hey lab7digital! So when we were building the physics system, we found that "realistic" physics were actually super boring to play. Instead, we aimed for physics that are somewhere in-between realistic and arcade, and it seems like we managed to find the sweet spot, as players are overwhelmingly giving us positive reviews, and we've had tons of good feedback from people who MTB in real life Smile
  • + 7
@NoMoreRobots: Just don't go full SSX Big Grin
  • + 5
@NoMoreRobots: I think that's fair. If the physics were real, I'd suck at the game as much as I do in real life. If only I could access arcade physics IRL, then maybe I could finally stop sucking at jumping.
  • + 3
@beerandbikes: A little Mario Kart is always appreciated though. Man, SSX, I feel old.

 @beerandbikes: Tricky!! Trick trick tricky!!

Namco Downhill Bikers reboot-- best 3 minute leg burn I ever had
  • - 1
Do not try to duplicate in real life the body movements shown of those tricks or you'll end up in a wheelchair. Is the Rider made of concrete ?
  • + 1
I played this at PAX east. I enjoyed it!!!!
  • + 1
Any chance of this on Playstation?
  • + 10
Hey mdg3d, yeah it'll be on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, most likely at the start of next year -- it's Xbox first Smile
