Press Release: Whatcom Mountain Bike Coalition

The Whatcom Mountain Bike Coalition is stoked to announce the 10th annual Shoot the Trails is taking place this Saturday from 6-9 PM (PST), and this year we’re going virtual!

Shoot the Trails is a celebration of all things mountain biking in Whatcom County and it's also the cornerstone of the WMBC’s annual fundraising program. For the past 9 years, more than 700 attendees and 50 volunteers have come together to swap stories, hang with friends, hobknob with Bellingham's who's who, drink some of the finest craft beer & cider, vote for our video/photo competition winners and throw down for our insane raffle - all to support the WMBC. We've been extremely fortunate to have the support of the entire community, sponsors and donors at this event each and every year.

Shoot the Trails accounts for 30% of the WMBC's annual operating budget. COVID-19 has changed our way of life and affected how all non-profits can engage with their members and raise funds for their organizations. At a time when trails in Bellingham are busier than ever and everyone is realizing how important outdoor access is to our mental health, donations to the WMBC are down 45% in 2020. More than ever, we need your support right now to maintain and create trails, provide unique recreational opportunities, and get to the finish line on the Samish Way parking lot.

Shoot the Trails Virtual Edition will premier movies, highlight photos from talented locals, and host an amazing raffle and auction items—we look forward to voting and celebrating our vibrant community with all of you online! The event will be live Saturday, October 24th, 2020 at 6 pm (PST) at www.wmbc.givesmart.com. Check the website out, create an account, buy your ticket, throw down for some raffle and auctions, and you will receive email or text updates regarding the live presentation. You can learn more about Shoot the Trails here as well. See you all there!

A huge thank you to the sponsors of our virtual edition of Shoot the Trails in 2020
