Press Release: Malverns Classic

Riders Ready, lets go racing!! Children aged from 2 to 5 years of age can race in this fun and competitive competition. Race categories are split between both boys and girls as well as age on the day. There are three days of racing with Quad Eliminator, Slalom and Downhill. Enter every race to be in with the chance to be World Champion!

Friday 27th of August - Balance Bike Quad Eliminator.
Four riders on the BMX style start gate, elbows out and go! This is action-packed head to head racing down into the main arena. Riders will fire out of the four-man start gate at the same time, battling elbows high into the first corner. The course will be fast and flowing with plenty of passing places for the skilled and the brave. The top two racers from each round will go through to the next heat, a simple elimination format as we head to the super finals!
10:00 to 13:00 - Practice and Racing.
13:00 - Podiums on the main stage for the top three in each category.

Saturday 28th of August - Balance Bike Slalom.
Racing one at a time down the slalom course, the race is against the clock! This is action-packed racing as riders fire out of the BMX style start gate and around the coloured gates. The fastest four from each category will go into the super finals. The 1st and 2nd fastest riders will be in the A Final. The 3rd and 4th fastest will be in the B final. These super finals will be based on one race, racing dual slalom head to head. Gate pick goes to the rider that qualified fastest.
09:00 to 10:00 - Practice and Racing.
12:00 - Podiums on the main stage for the top three in each category.

Sunday 29th of August - Balance Bike Downhill.
Downhill is the Formula 1 of mountain bike racing. The purest form of racing with riders racing against the clock. The course will be fast and flowing with plenty of corners for the riders to showcase their skills.

I stopped following elite balance bike racing after all the doping scandals. You can tell just by looking at the athletes that they are up to their eyes balls in growth hormone.

There was a recent undercover documentary looking into the Balance Bike doping scandal of 2018. It astounded me the lengths these athletes would go to for success. One of the younger athletes had been neglecting his Tonka Truck and was double rusking 3 times a day... Everyday!

 @MaN-oF-STeEL:
You can't defend the indefensible at this level of racing dude. These athletes should know the A B C's of rule book, or at least have looked at the pictures.
If you ask me, it's all gone potty.

@Dropthedebt: True. They’ll be plenty of time spent on the time-out step.

After the Martin Maes thing last year, I did check the WADA list before my son’s balance bike race (he didn’t need a TUE).

@lewiscraik: wise choice, that's some very smart athlete management work.

sounds like good fun. Unfortunately my daughter graduated from her balance bike onto a pedal bike on her 3rd birthday, otherwise I would have entered her!

Although I would worry if at 5 years old a child was still on a balance bike.... do they make them for children of that size?

They should also do a parent/child race, where both have to use the same bike Smile

I have entered my 18 month old son. Hopefully 11 months is enough for him to actually learn how to ride it...

Isn’t it about time that a manufacturer released an adult version of a balance bike?
Has to be a gap in the market....

There's not a lot of room for a water bottle on those bikes.

 Thankfully...
