After a hiatus of 7 years, the Whiteface Mountain Bike Parks organizers are fully stoked to bring back the biggest, baddest and most notorious DH race on the east coast. They are prepared to impress a whole new generation of gravity enthusiasts with "The Return of the 5K DH". If you have ever wanted to race on a world cup-like track and love long downhills in a stunning setting, this race is for you. Do not let the word "Park" in Whiteface's title fool you, this is racing your bike down a big, gnarly mountain. The Pro category will be combined with the Open category, meaning you can race for the cash (up to a $5,000 cash purse) with the $10 1-day license.

The 5K race course will start out on a very high-speed section where racers will reach speeds in excess of 50 MPH (80 KPH) before disappearing into the woods.

High-speed sections, gnarly natural woods sections, and trail enhancements will welcome and challenge you on your way down. There are many races, but none like the Whiteface 5K DH, not even close!
REGISTER HERE and see for yourself.

This is a very good example of the natural terrain on the upper mountain.

Previous winners for this time-honored event are Justin Leov, Neko Mullaly with back to back wins, James Ford setting a course record of 6:36 on one of his 2 wins, Dawn Bourque and Tracey Mosely. Ford's course record was set on an ultra-fast course that no longer exists during the events very first year. More recent pro winning times are in the 8-minute range. At our last 5K DH, only 3 riders broke the 8-minute mark!

* Online registration prices include the required lift passes, so signing up online can equal a free DH race.

* Onsite lift passes if purchased the day of the event will be $45 for 1 day, $75 for 2 days or $100 for 3 days.

* Prices increase on August 1st, then again on site. Register early and save big!

Event sponsors include DVO Suspension, Peaty's USA, Trucker Co, High Peaks Cyclery, Whiteface Mountain and the Olympic Regional Development Authority.
