I’ll bet there’s a lot of people saying finally.
bikes!!
trash the discontentment y'all we here for this sh** love it or hate it
Wider rear hubs are not without compromise, that's why 148 will probably remain for the foreseeable future
Originally everything I read was 148 was the widest they could go and keep narrow q factor. Too many manufacturers just wider on the Q as well.
I've had a 157 rear bike and my knees hated it.
Im rooting for ebikes left and right to be brought mainstream, cause that means the "mechanical" bikes are gonna get cheaper.
Regardless. Ain't paying 5k$ for gx garbage. I'm riding a devinci that I bought new, I love it but sorry, at those prices I'll quit the hobby before I buy new again.
Frame only prices are insanity these days.
But I would not buy a 148 bike right now...
X01 Builds:
Devinci: $10,700 with carbon wheels
Santa Cruz: $10,600 with reserve wheels but no kashima
Yeti: $11,000 with carbon wheels
Norco: $8,500 no carbon wheels
Trek: $9,700 with carbon wheels
Rocky Mountain: $8,000-$9,500
Specialized: $9,500 with carbon wheels
Transition: $7,800 (not sure if the Stans wheels are carbon or not... cheap either way)
YT Top End Builds: $7,000 with carbon wheels and XTR
I have never ridden a Devinci so I can't comment on the ride quality or ownership experience. However, I am skeptical that they can hang with the likes of Santa Cruz and Yeti. For that kind of $ you should expect lifetime warranties, unreal customer service, top notch build quality, etc, etc.
I'd like to ride one to see what's what.
Please tell me what's not covered? If you're going to come back with bearings- well they're a wear item.
So what you have left is manufacturers you say make a better bike but don't have enough confidence in it to warranty it for life and a company you say makes a subpar bike compared to the other yet somehow have enough confidence to warranty for life.
Hmm well thought out.
And even if you damage your frame they'll most often replace parts for cheap. I got a replacement chainstay for 150$ like 3 years ago after I crashed it. Much better than buying a new bike.
On my old bike I had a carbon Rockguardz thingy and I cracked that at the top. That was twice as long as the guard on this rig. Now (because RG dont make one for my frame) I use a chopped up old tyre which is an insult to my freaking expensive bike. Otherwise yes, this bike is ok
2018 Spartan Carbon Frameset - 3999.00$ CAD
Guide RSC brakes on the 9k usd carbon bike, 35mm or 36mm inner width wheels is a bit much also, EXO rear, 51mm offset fork? Probably has 175mm cranks too! Do product managers not shred?
