Pinkbike.com Team Update - What about the frames?

Jul 29, 2008
by Jordan Holmes
After a very successful season on board the 2007 Devinci Wilson 2 bikes, it was a no brainer to stick with the bike company out of Quebec for 2008. Devinci had been hard at work creating a whole new version of their successful Wilson and it is what our DH Team is on board this race season. The team is on board the all new Wilson 4 frames with some custom love from the rest of the sponsors.

Read on to check out the fancy new rigs:As we mentioned above, last year the team raced on the 2007 Wilson 2 frame, but this year they are riding the fully re-designed Wilson 4 frames. Check the picture below to see just how much things have changed.

Devinci has clearly gone through extensive development over the past few years to create this new race worthy frame, not only with general frame design, but everything right down to the removable decals, and the linkage placement. Through the frame revisions Devinci was capable of shaving 1.35 lbs from the previous frame weight, meaning the new frame touched down at 8.8 lbs. Features like adjustable rear travel (from 8.6" - 9.1"), adjustable chain stay lengths and BB height options make this bike very versatile for various courses. These settings labeled "DH" and "FR" are clearly described by this chart below.

The Wilson 4 has a number of unique things going for it. Featuring a 1.5" head tube, MAXLE compatible dropouts, and replaceable ISCG tabs (you can get either ISCG or ISCG05), the Wilson was designed to take abuse.

These frames have all been built up with the rest of the team parts for this race season and so far the team has seen some good podium action including a National Title and representation at the World Championships last month. Expect to see the team out on the various race circuits for the rest of this season on their custom equipped Devinci Wilson 4s.

Not to be too negative but.... There is more to a company than just the ride and devinci does not care about its sellers, dealers and customers. Twice I have worked were devinci has shown that it does not care and has 0 loyalty. This is just a big bucks company, I would stick with cove or brodie. However we need as many Canadian companies as we can get so..... Just thought I would throw that out there.

everybody had issues in 2008 with the rear end slack bushings...i would wait for the 2009 model when they put the bike on needle bearings

My mate just bought the wilson 2 for an an amazing 1800 uk sterling and i doubt you can get a better bike for the money. some of the parts aint amazing but the frame is AMAZING ,i'm normally very hesitant about riding other peoples bikes but this one I just ripped right away like its been mine all along , the back end feels awesomely plush with out wallowing around and its really digs in at the corners , light too my mates is built up to 44 pounds , not amazing light but considering the components that are on it its amazing , could easily be a 40 lbs bike . Bargain go get one!

Devinci is already on top with this. 09 will have bearing in them and all the 08 will be converted at no cost. You can already see some 09 on some of the local trails but they might still be bushing in them as they are waiting for the new parts. Here is company that has great consumer services solve the problem right a way. Not like some other that have greats name but no consumer services! I would buy a 08 with our hesitation.

When I see the Devinci guys out west for Crankworx i'm going to spend every minute begging for the new needle bearings... Kidding. But I talked to someone who was riding them and he said it was a whole different bike, super smooth and a hell of a lot less flex. I am so excited for them to come out with them!

real good frame but seen a lot of problems with bushings because they went away from bearings in the pivots to lighten up the bike, friend of mine rides one he replaces the bushings like crazy.
