Pinkbike s DH Fantasy League Fantasy Downhill Presented by trekbikes

You may have seen photos of Gee Atherton rocking this limited edition camo red Trek Session at Fort William. Well, we're stoked to announce that the one champion of the Pinkbike Downhill Fantasy League is the only person other than Gee Atherton who will get to ride this limited edition exclusive paint scheme.

Grand Prize

At the end of the season, after all 7 rounds of the DH World Cup and the World Championships, the overall Fantasy Downhill Champion will win a Trek Session 9.9 complete bike with the same exclusive paint scheme as the Trek Factory Racing Team. Here's what it looks like (Note: Grand Prize Bike will feature a different parts specification to that shown in the photos below).

I can't think of anything more appropriate to be given away on Pinkbike than a Session

 Looks like a prize draw

That bike might actually make me go faster. Nothing else has worked to date.
  • 22 2
Have you tried aligning your bike's chakra with Axxios sensor pads?
  • 4 1
it would make me faster for sure, as i currently have to run the trails down by foot ...

 What a sick bike I won’t win

Rubbers going to go hard before I use 10 sets of tires...

Wheelsize standards will have changed before I use 10 sets of tires.
  • 6 1
 10 tires, so 5 sets.
  • 5 5
3-4sets a year if you ride often. Maybe you just leave them on for too long

@SamRouss: Oh yeah, I tend to wear them out all the way. When the siping is gone, I pick a razor (I use double edge razor blades anyway) and sipe them again. I think in the rear I still have first generation Racing Ralph 26x2.4" (though it has been on an off a few times). I ordered new tires early May (according to the shop they should arrive within ten working days from now) so I'll have some fresh rubber for the first time in a while. But that's just because I tried to set up my tires tubeless and they kept popping new holes everywhere, simply wouldn't seal. I now got something "tubeless ready" so that should make things easier.

Challenge accepted. PS Cough, cough, that's what she said. Ahem.

@vinay: I had four sets of tyres for my 26er to cover all weathers. Combine that with two hours a week of riding time... ended up selling all of them, hardly worn, with my 26" wheel bike.
Now I'm stockpiling 27.5" tyres, ready to do same when I switch to 29".

Hmmm. That custom color scheme on the Session for the PB DH Fantasy League winner... Any way it could be Gee Atherton's bike's lookalike instead?

It looks like a session... Of bike porn. That bike is Drool . I'm with you there @RedBurn... Won't win it... But sick bike. At least I can have a pic of it Smile

I know they said the parts on the bike will be different than the pictures but I’m still stuck on does this bike really have hope cranks, Sram derailleur and Saint brakes? On the phone it’s hard to see.
  • 1 0
No. The specs are at the bottom of the article... The cranks, derailleur, and shifters are Saint, the cassette is Ultegra, and the chain is XTR. It's all Shimano.
  • 1 0
@mtbikeaddict: I know that I was talking about in the pics.
  • 1 0
@krumpdancer101: Ah, ok... Then you are correct. The bike in the pics does indeed have Hope cranks, a SRAM derailleur, and Saint brakes. Quite the interesting mish-mash.

Next year it's going to be 28.99mm bottom bracket spindles, 28.99" wheels, 28.99" bars (736mm), 28.99mm stems, and 28.99 spoke wheels (one of the spokes gets .01% removed to improve radial compliance

Hoping I can get some results this weekend.

Can't wait to win this Wink

Why no Martin Maes in the fantasy rider list? He has done well in Fort Bill before and would be a bargain rider potentially.
  • 1 0
 He's in there.
  • 2 0
Damn, now the pressure is really on for me to stay in the lead.
  • 1 0
How do we see how we stacked up in just Round #2, instead of a combined total?
  • 1 0
 What a sesshionable bike!
  • 2 0
 Damn that's pretty!
  • 3 2
Looks like... a bit different Session.
  • 1 0
If I win, can I get the 29er frame instead?
  • 1 0
If I win, I'm parting it out. To buy carbon rims and Eagle.
  • 1 0
Gotta win it for da Wellgos!
  • 1 0
Id sell so quick if i won.
  • 1 0
Damn, that would be rad. Shoul have played.

Just imagine how much faster it would be if it was. Not even sure why they make 27.5" anymore, given how vastly superior 29" is in every way.
  • 1 0
@R0GUER0B0T: Unless you're under a certain height. As per Danny Hart who switched back to 27.5 after only a few races last year. And Aaron Gwinn, who's yet to go to 29.
  • 1 0
@kurtz433: Nah,that's just Gwin's way to get some competition.
