DH Fantasy League Updates - Just a Few Days Left to Create Your Team

by Pinkbike Staff
Pinkbike s DH Fantasy League Fantasy Downhill Presented by trekbikes

We're heading into the home stretch of the Fantasy Downhill Presented by Trek. So far over 13 thousand Pinkbike readers have picked their dream DH World Cup team to be in the running to walk home with a Trek Session 9.9 and other prizes! Since we announced the fantasy league we've tweaked a few things, so read on to increase your chances.

3-Day Blackout Period

In order to avoid players copying each other's teams, all rider selections will be hidden for 72 hours before each race. Start playing mind games with your friends that you know are shoulder-hopping your choices.

Unlimited Trades

To make evolving your strategy between rounds easier, we've allowed unlimited trades after each round. Instead of only 2 changes allowed per round, you can now stick with what's working, or change your whole team out after every race.

Injury Icon
photo

We've added an injury icon to show high profile athletes who are injured. This is not foolproof or exhaustive, so you'll still need to do your own research into your picks. If you know of riders who are injured, mention them in the comments and we’ll keep this updated.

Office Leagues

Employees at Race Face, Norco, SRAM, Trek, Chromag, Jenson, Specialized, and more are battling it out behind closed doors in their Office Leagues.
Fantasy League trash talk

Offices can set up private leagues in addition to playing the main public league. Let the trash talk begin and show Dave in accounting who's boss (sorry Dave).

Cam McCaul Recap Show

Cam is a secret World Cup fiend and will be joining us each week post-race to break down all the action.

Please either put a shortcut to the fantasy league on your homepage or make the existing shortcut easier to find!

I know this is rocket science but you can also just bookmark the page.

 @650boss: thx for the tip

I'd like to see separate budgets for male and female racers. The current system encourages you to drop the brunt of your cash on two top women, as the podium always has the same 4 faces, so the points are way higher and more consistent, with little room for imagination (which is what makes fantasy sports fun). I'd like to be able to fill out the men's roster I want, where there's 20-30 guys that can potentially podium on any given day, without feeling like I'm throwing away the (basically) guaranteed points. My two cents

You just exposed my entire strategy. Excellent

 @cmcrawfo: and mine

Crowded room? I thought I was alone. Please turn the lights back off so I can pretend only I know this secret strategy for winning MY Session. Back off, I licked it already.
  • 1 0
Using this strategy I get points from last year of around 3100, based on my normally picked team I get points of just over 3000. I'll take my chances with mid/high level riders all round.

Though it did mean I had to sacrifice Tahnee.... *insert violins here*

Will racers prices/value change throughout the season? Like if Gwin wins the first few races will his price go up? Or if someone gets injured or under performs will their price drop?
  • 7 1
not this year. it's something that's on the list to add to the league next year.
  • 1 0
@karl-burkat: will there be a new draft next year, or can you hold onto a few riders? If I have a few rising stars who turn out to be worth tons, will I have to re draft them at a higher price?
  • 1 0
@tornateo: it’ll be a new draft. We’ll see which changes to make, but it’ll be something that keeps improving
  • 1 0
 @karl-burkat: thanks for the info!

Me and another guy in our league have 0 points in the first race but we calculate we have at least over 300. Is there some sort of glitch or does it take awhile to update? @karl_burkat
  • 1 0
Lots of teams scores haven’t calculated. If you’re at zero, it’ll still update ????
  • 5 0
And allow us to edit the name of our leagues.
  • 6 0
This is something that'll get added.
  • 1 0
Karl burkat did you (or pinkbike team) build this? Myself and some friends from work built our own pool before this one came out, because ours included ews and slopestyle diamond series we did it in mid March, was extremely fun and extremely geeky, would love to chat with you guys haha.

Thank you so much, this is how fantasyleague should look like not the half arsed version of dirt in recent seasons. I would have liked it if you kept the 2 rider change rule, but i am happy anyways, keep it up
  • 4 0
Please allow us to join more than one league too, that’d be super handy!
  • 1 0
Any way of following other users while only joining a single league? I'm in a office league but still want to follow/crush my friends points!
  • 3 0
Please add Cecile Ravanel for this roundddd!

Name: Ireland
  • 1 0
Where is the create league button?
  • 1 0
How about adding points for qualifying?
  • 1 0
The points system is just finals, we’ll see whether to make any changes for next year.
  • 1 0
Why isn't Danni Beecroft an option on the women's?
  • 1 0
Some riders will be added after the first round, like Danni, so you'll be able to pick them for the rest of the rounds.
  • 1 0
 Wow, over 13.400 playaz. POP
  • 4 4
Not enough WC rounds to make this truelly competitive but I’m glad it exists. Maybe this will push DH to have more races
  • 16 2
Doubt the UCI have even heard of pinkbike. Their funding department doesn't really seem to know what mountain biking is
  • 6 8
 Omg give it a rest
