Answers to All 15 Questions From Round 2 of DH Fantasy Trivia

Jul 29, 2020
by Pinkbike Staff

While the World Cup circus is on pause and the world's top riders are locked down, we've been rewatching old races and classic mountain bike DVDs and nerding out about whether the rainbow curse is real or not... and many of you are likely doing the same. To put all that World Cup DH knowledge to use, we're running DH Fantasy Trivia while we wait for DH racing to start back up.

Stay tuned for the prize winners from this round to be announced tomorrow!

Stay tuned for Round 3! Remember, these trivia quizzes WILL count towards the overall DH Fantasy League, so if you're all all-time World Cup nerd (or just have a knack for guessing!) you could be the lucky person who gets to design a custom Project One Trek Slash carbon frame to bring home kitted out with Rockshox suspension and SRAM components!

Each trivia round will feature 15 questions and feature prizing for the overall Top Nerd. Once racing resumes (fingers crossed!), we'll continue with the regular Fantasy DH League and combine the points from Fantasy Trivia with Fantasy DH for a total of 9 rounds and crown the overall Fantasy Downhill Champion and present the Grand prize of a complete bike!

The Fantasy Downhill League is Presented by Trek.

Lol, i guessed the amount of beer correct, but I was stupid enough to find Mark Beaumont win some world cups. Unfortunately, I searched the vita of endurance rider Mark Beaumont (who is from Scotland) and not the one of gravity rider Mark Beaumont. Otherwise, I would have had them all correct...stupid idiot ????

Any idea when the points will pull through?
  • 1 0
Points have been awarded. Looks like a 2 way tie for first place.
  • 3 0
 When are the scores updated?
  • 1 0
 Tomorrow it said
  • 1 0
@pinkbike team: please check up on the correct answer to question 13. I think the correct answer is 3 since Sabrina Jonnier won Fort William '09, not Tracy Moseley Smile
  • 1 0
You are right. Roots and rain was wrong with this one
  • 2 0
Thanks for the heads up, we're looking into this one now. We haven't updated the points yet so nobody will miss out if we've slipped up here.

@jamessmurthwaite: thanks for the effort, much appreciated! Smile and im also dying to know where the Carver stated that he needed to down 20+ beers Big Grin
  • 1 0
@murphymarv: That one came from the horse's mouth, we were picking between that and what did he have for breakfast before his run:
a) Oatmeal with apple, cream, berries
b) Scrambled eggs, toast, sausage, mushrooms, tomato
c) Pancakes and bacon
d) Over easy eggs, toast, bacon
  • 2 0
@jamessmurthwaite: Did he mention it during an interview? Just wondering how this could have been found.
  • 1 0
@jamessmurthwaite: that would have been a no-brainer! Clearly b) and judging on how he sent it, probably already with 20+ beers included

RootsAndRain is dead to me now...
  • 2 2
@jamessmurthwaite: @pinkbike Not only did Roots and Rain have it wrong, on June 7th the article www.pinkbike.com/news/10-of-the-biggest-moments-from-18-years-of-racing-at-fort-william.html was posted on Pinkbike stating that Tracy Moseley won Fort William in 2009. Question 13 should be dropped from the results since some people had to have answered incorrectly because they read that article on Pinkbike.

As I already said: Sarah's article is correct, Sabrina Jonnier won in 2009. It is Ed's article the one with the written mistake, however if you watch the video on Ed's article, it is Sabrina finishing fastest, and then Sabrina on top of the podium www.youtube.com/watch?v=GijfQtzY3vU

Sarah's article: www.pinkbike.com/news/pinkbike-primer-everything-you-need-to-know-ahead-of-the-fort-william-world-cup-dh.html

Ed's article: www.pinkbike.com/news/video-round-up-18-years-of-the-fort-william-dh-world-cup.html

Exactly, Pinkbike posted conflicting information. I know the staff wants the contest to be fair, which is why they dropped question 14 from the results of the first EWS fantasy round, when there was confusion regarding whether there was coffee or chocolate on the podium in Bariloche Argentina. For the sake of fair play and consistency, question 13 should be dropped from the results from this round as well.
  • 4 2
Unfortunately it would be unfair to people who double-checked before answering and correctly answered three. Neither Sarah's article nor Ed's article said Tracy was a Trek athlete in 2009, which is an important part of the question, so I'm not buying the argument that because of Ed's article, the question should be dismissed.

But in the end it is just a game… 50 points for who answered three, and 25 points for who answered four? Big Grin

@ostia: totally agree! ???? instead of taking the stuff too seriously (regardless of the fact that the prices are pretty awesome), let’s just all enjoy the effort @pinkbike has put into the quiz to help curing the non-race boredom with some brain-boiling questions!
  • 4 0
@murphymarv: Totally agree. I for one am really finding these trivia comps a great distraction from all the crap that's going on right now.
  • 2 0
 Just one wrong answer...
Where did you have the 20+ beers from?
  • 1 0
 The man himself!
  • 3 0
Could not find that answer anywhere

@pinkbike noticed you guys added "elite" to #10 here but on the actual trivia it just said "best world cup result" which could also mean juniors...
  • 2 0
Jesh! Pinkbike!! Come on with the points already!!!!

Stevie's ghost ride was amazing and fitting. Well done guys and gals
