Call up some friends and pull up to the trail. Stash some beer. Start turning the pedals. Feel the pain of the ascent creep into your core, but refuse to admit defeat. Embrace it to the top. Lay on your back in the grass and search for breath. Pause. Get back on the bike and enjoy your rewards as you wander back and forth throughout the hills below. Session a section of trail. Laugh when you get it wrong, laugh when you get it right. Skid into the car park with a smile on your face and immediately begin heckling your friends about how sketchy they are. Remember the beers in your bag and get fired right up, all over again.

Mountain biking seems like a pretty simple program to me.

Sick riding fellas this is what it's all about. Jumps and trail bikes ftw! Me and another fellow North Shore Bike Shop rider have committed to one bike this season for everything from park to xc. We're on new Transition Covert Carbons and they kill it! Had my first 2 days In the Whistler Bike park last weekend and I've never had so much fun on A Line and Dirt Merchant!

Last year I brought my AM bike and DH bike to parks on numerous occasions. All of the fast flowy jump trails were faster and more fun on the AM bike, but that's about where it stopped. Once you got into real black diamond chop and gnar, I enjoyed the plusher DH bike a lot more. If you're going to do an entire season with just one bike, I really don't think you're going to have as much fun. I really don't think technical black diamond is that much fun with less travel.

I disagree man, I've got one bike I use for everything, can still keep up with all my mates on dh bikes, and with the same mates on their trail bikes. sure I'd be quicker on a bigger bike in the super rough, but to me that's not a big deal.

DH bike is all fun and games until your at the bottom of a hill..... and there is not lift, car, sherpa or teleportation device. AM for the win!

One bike to do it all for sure

There needs to be an edit made of Steenbergen, Semenuk and Dean Tennant. That would possibly be the best day of my life.

Dirt merchant opened up on Sunday. I've been riding bikes for a long time and have to disagree with BDKR. Ive normally owned a 450 and a bandit but the carbon covert does the work of both. Whether it was technical DH like schleyer or whistler DH or my local DH stuff on the north shore it was more than capable and I was faster when I committed. This is my opinion based on my skill set and is definitely from rider to rider. Jumps and flow are a no brainer but commit to your modern #enduro bike and it won't let you down. My covert has a 2014 170 mm 55 evo ti and a custom shimmed and valved extra volume roco world cup so not a little trail bike.

i'd be interested to see how the bike lasts through a whole year of riding though, i'm starting to notice that the rune needs a bit more maintenance than a DH bike after a year or so of hard riding.
  • 1 0
Yea that's to be expected. I don't mind doing maintenance that's all part of the game but I've been on my covert for 8 months now and nothing to terrible has happened. Real tough bike and the carbon Fibre definite helps for longevity

I don't like enduro, but I like this edit for sure!
  • 3 0
how could you not like enduro. It's just another word for riding footcycles down a dirt trail. everything about that is awesome.
  • 1 1
I am not a fan of the word "Enduro". To me it is a racing style, and I like that about it. Not the hype that comes with associating it with a product.... I think this falls into the "All Mountain" category
