No photo of local ripper who pulled 2nd place in pro DH? Kiran MacKinnon!!! Shame on you pinkbike...

Kiran's been killing it. 2nd in Port Angeles and 2nd here!

Maybe, just maybe, the photogs just didn't get a pic. Crazy, I know, but still not impossible

 Just added one. Impressive ride!

Can't you keyboard warriors find something else to complain about besides the course each year lol, obviously anyone wanting to win would be stupid to race a DH bike here, use the equipment that best suits the terrain..Pretty sure there's a reason the podium is always packed with the guys who have a history of strong DH sprint speed and skills. One run, top to bottom, doesn't sound like Enduro or XC to me?
  • 1 2
So ironic... you're the keyboard warrior here, telling people they're not allowed to talk about a race course. If you don't want to read comments about a race course, don't read the comments section of an article about a race.
  • 2 1
@dfiler: when did I say you’re not allowed to comment? I’m not the moderator dude calm down, just think it’s funny hating on something that hasn’t changed in 20 years, and isn’t going to change in the future. So ironic oh my gosh.

 You're missing the irony here

 Jackson not racing world cups?
  • 11 0
full crankworx thing for him it seems. I think its a good step forward though! with all the races and events of crankworx, riders can get lots of exposure and help push racing forward outside of the UCI. I'm all for it.
  • 14 11
Downhill. Or Enduro? I see no DH bikes there
  • 23 4
You start on top of a hill and ride it down = Downhill
If the course is pedally and not technically, why would you choose a a proper DH rig?
  • 7 1
 Except for Damon.

Peaty was freaking lucky Enduro was not around in times of Canberra World Champs. In a way that, top downhillers didn't really ride those trail bikes that much. He'd get smoked on that V10. Now, I'll just go pour myself a cup of tea, sit down and wait fot the angry mob to knock on my door...
  • 9 1
@WAKIdesigns: barel ride an enduro bike at world champs in Canberra. And peaty beat him.
  • 2 0
@russthedog: I think Brian Lopes also rode an Ibis Mojo in that race!

@russthehog, read the second sentence. Hill rode SX Trail with Boxxer set to 180. If Barel or Grves were there with trail bikes after whole season spent on them, they’d fk up all folks on DH bikes.
  • 2 0
@WAKIdesigns: barel had a modern enduro bike basically that race lolol. You are most certainly right tho
  • 4 1
it's sea otter...did you expect this year to be different from every other year?

flag vinay (Apr 23, 2018 at 7:54) (Below Threshold)
@WAKIdesigns: Here I am, knocking. Would like some tea too. I brought some (gluten free) cookies. And then have a chat. See, Peaty rode what he was comfortable on and won. Others played the silly weight weenie game, tried riding something lighter they weren't used to and lost. Yeah I get what you're saying, if enduro was around and his competitors at the Worlds would also have some proper enduro racing under their belts, they could potentially have beat him. Thing is, it does take some dedication to make the cut and represent your country in the first place. Yeah I know Sam Hill did it last year but yeah, what goes for Sam doesn't go for the "average" top WC DH racer. Now what if enduro was around? Pretty sure that is what he'd have been riding loads around is home in Sheffield. Santa Cruz makes them and they make sense where he lives. He'd have been familiar with them too.

Now that was a lovely cup of tea, thank you. Next time at my place. I'll make tea, you bring cookies. Vegan, gluten free, sugarfree, no palm oil, fair trade, organic, thank you very much.

The course is harder than it looks. That grass is much longer and itchier than depicted.

@russthedog: Wasn't Barel on a DH Mondraker with a Fox 36? I remember the fork had a big spacer below the headset cup.

 @mdg3d: Damon Iwanaga is cool.

@SnowshoeRider4Life: Bikes were so fugly back then Razz
  • 1 0
@handynzl: I get where your coming from but that Mondraker looked pretty good to me! A simple and straight forward design with some pretty welds, plus I love the look of polished aluminum!

I love it how many of you took my comment for Enduro bikes are faster than DH bikes. Yes I do remember that Barel rode a 160 bike just like Lopes, and I remember Lopes saying in the commentary booth that Barel is stupid for not wearing knee guards, just like I wrote above that I remember very well how Hill rode SX Trail with 180 Boxxer. Internet talks, love'em Big Grin hey here's a potential argument, I'll pick a side on what seems to be one of 3-4 most popular topics around this subject and rag on the guy who seems to be on another team. yeah, just yeah. In fact I just wanted to troll on Peaty... ok, terrific,
