I've been mountain biking for over 15 years and travelled to many places with my bike. In the winter I'm split boarding and exploring the powder wherever I can find it. I have been to northern Norway and Lofoten four times during winter but never in the summer or with my bike. This weekend I finally got the opportunity to check that off my bucket list.

The coolest bikevan EVER Sture Fesshompa Pettersen

We went by plane from Oslo to Bodø and then to Leknes where we were picked up by our host; Kristian Bøe at Hattvika Lodge. Five days of hanging out, biking and telling jokes lie ahead. Two hours later the bikes were assembled and we headed out on our first adventure. Close by Hattvika lies the planes of Ballstadheia and although it was a lot of carrying to get up there the scenery and technical riding turned out awesome.

The next day we were ready for another adventure, hiking over a mountain pass to get to a secluded beach with dunes, slick rock and steep surroundings. The first half was a nightmare biking wise, but when we climbed up to the mountain Ryten we found nice singletracks on the way back. Our photographer, Nils-Erik Bjørholt was swinging his DSLR all the time so we got tons of footage.

Here's the full album.

The evening was spent in the oven fired hot tub outside Hattvika lodge with a cold one and a more than a decent meal to follow.

Some real brokeback mountainbiking going on with the aurora borealis as backdrop. No further comment needed.

Our highlight of the weekend would follow the next day when we sat out to ride Smørdalskammen, or Smørris by locals. Singletracks from start to finish, and most of it pretty smooth. Some rocky sections on the bottom but all in all dreamy and magnificent in every way. On our final day of riding we hiked 800 elevation meters up to Justadtind, a cool peak with a 360-degree view and climbing up and riding most of it down. No filming and just riding from top to bottom. Totally awesome. Not for the weak at heart, this trail was rough!

Until next time Lofoten, We'll see you again for sure!
