I've slept in a hammock for a month straight on a bike tour. I loved it way more than sleeping on a mattress on the ground. Many people around the world sleep exclusively in hammocks. Just because something is different doesn't mean it is worse.

Eagles Nest Outfitters Hammock sets up a lot faster and cleaner. Costs a bit more, but weighs not much more. This hammock is skinnier than the skinniest hammocks on market. Horrible night's sleep unless your in say an ENO Doublenest Hammock.

I'm presuming there are no pictures of people actually using them as portable beds is because they are horrible to your back if you've been riding your bike all day?

I will stick with my inflatable mattress . I'm already carring an air pump for my tires so why not?
