PRESS RELEASE: Drop A Gear Racing / Kenda Tires

We are proud to announce the formation of a brand new off-road team for 2020. Supported by some of the top brands in the cycling industry, this new team has its sights set on podiums across the US and overseas. Riding the brand new Sniper XC from Intense and stocked with the latest from Shimano, Kenda, KS, LEM, Orange Seal, G-form, and Ridefast wheels. The bikes and riders are ready for top-level competition!

This team has been a time long in the making! Intense bikes have developed a brand new World Cup level cross country machine and needed a way to present it to the racing world. Kenda Tires decided to be the back bone for this new team and hired Jason Ranoa to manage and run the day to day operations. Jason is the owner/ director for SoCal Endurance MTB races and the developer of the SoCal DEVO Team. He has been in the industry well over 20 years and helped to develop top-level events and racers. Jason has this to say “ I am very excited and motivated to be a part of the Kenda / Intense / KS factory squad. The talent and dedication on this team will lead the way for others to follow! I look forward to top level performances and building a solid team for the future of our brands and the sport of Mountain biking.” Also involved in the management of the team is Roger Hernandez and Heather Ranoa. The dynamic trio are the force behind the team.

The team's main focus is on elite level cross country racing, but they will also use their 29r Intense Carbines to drop into a few Enduro races. These riders are multi talented and posses great bike handling skills. It is going to be a lot of fun to watch as they develop the identity of this team. The presonalities on this team are amazing! Jason states “ We have a ton of fun and always keep the mood lite. We joke often and make fun of ourselves. You can’t take bike racing to seriously! After all, its riding bikes!”

We’ve had some great help this year to establish our team. Of course, the back bone to our equipment is our Intense Sniper and Carbine frames. But we equip them with some of the best components in the industry. Shimano XTR drives our Snipers and XT on our Carbines. Both bikes use KS dropper seatposts to help control the ride height. While Ridefast wheels provide some of the fastest and lightest wheels around. Hotwire 29rs for XC and Hotlines for the more gravity-based duties. Inside our wheels, we stock only the best, Orange Seal is our choice! Orange Seal has already saved our day more than once! To handle where the rubber meets the road is our Kenda tires. Kenda has been a driving force to get this team going and they provide us with the best tires. The team has been using the new Booster Pro’s for XC and the more aggressive Hellcat’s for Enduro. Kenda has new tires coming out this year and the team is excited to rock them. As for our rider gear we have partnered with Hyperthreads clothing for our kits and gear. Hyperthreads has amazing clothing and its elite level of race gear is unmatched. For protection, we’ve partnered with LEM helmets and G-form. LEM helmets have developed some great headgear. The new Motiv-Air is awesome. Super light weight and strong. One of the only helmets with exo-Carbon technology. G-Form's revolutionary technology creates uninhibited freedom of motion and delivers the ultimate fit for athletes. We are excited to represent our partners, and help develop the next generation of top cycling gear.

Our team roster:

Starting off with Caroline Mani whose been on the World stage for a few years now. Many know her from her Cyclocross World Cup Podiums and Multi-time French National Championships. She's ready to go back to her roots and hit the trails!

Next up is our Aussie transplant, Ryan Standish. Ryan is the muscle of the group, loads of power and always sporting the best Hair. Ryan is a consistent top 10 performer and rocks a serious Mullet.

Our silent assassin of the group is young Daniel Johnson. Super quiet and unassuming, but ready to rip your legs off at a moment's notice! Plus Danny has a great smile!

Our final rider is Zach Calton the Mullet wearing, no mustache having, joker of the bunch! Zach is a riot and a seriously talented rider. Current U23 National Short Track Champ, and top 10 podium contender.

Our schedule includes Domestic UCI point races, National Championships, and a host of fun times on the bike!

We are thankful and grateful to our partners for the time and support in backing us for the 2020 season.
