I hope that one day all of your adventures will be published into a beautifully crafted leather bound coffee table book. "The Dark Roast Diaries for the gravel rash daily grind" by Dylan Sherrard. Lovely stuff mate
Flat pedals on a drop bar...that's a first for me. But then again I don't do drop bars or gourmet burritos or cursive. Glad to see your stoke level off the charts tho bruh. Enjoy the Gravel roads, cheers.
@Mtb4joe Sometimes I'll ride flats, sometimes I'll ride clips... just depends on what my pavement to party ratio is looking like for that particular ride.
I ran flats on my gravel bike when I first got it. They're a great interim choice when deciding between road and MTB clipless styles. The caveat is that they look a little odd off the bike, but you can't see then while you're riding so who cares?
@dylansherrard: "Sometimes I'll ride flats, sometimes I'll ride clips"... reminds me of that nice & smooth song... anyways good stuff man, all the best for 2018, cheers!
@dylansherrard: I ride flats ALL the time, so I wasn't talking smack lol. Just stood out on the Gravel Bike. I like that pavement to party ratio! Cheers
@Mtb4joe: I'm pretty well the same as you... unless I'm pedalling my road rig on a long mission. And then I usually forget I've got the clips on, and crash several times when coming to stops
I used to have a Kona Jake and it was my favorite do-everything bike, from a quick ride, gravel grind to daily commuting - except for one thing: the crappy cable-pull brakes. Thanks to the UCI rules nobody bothered to build a CX bike with disc brake mounts.
Jump forward a bunch of years and the variety of 11spd, slacked-out, disc braked gravel and cx bikes is amazing. The come in everything from steel to full carbon as well.
I'm on a Niner RLT now it's rekindled a lot of that feeling, plus I no longer rear-end cars when following too close downtown!
@plyawn: @goatpuncher: it really is amazing to have a bike that can cover that much ground so easily, and still feel safe to rally it over the rough stuff!
What is the point of this besides advertising specialized bikes? It is just a photo shoot, no actual riding done. It is just an ad. For a shitty bike company.
It is an ad, true. But it's not for a shitty bike company. For sure Specialized has been involved in some...less than honorable legal shenanigans in the past, but overall they're still pretty cool. And they make some pretty neat bikes.
@seraph: funny how my comment had 10Ups and out of the blue it is below the fold. Specialized is a shitty company making shitty bikes. It always been considered like that, since they started making bikes.
