Dynaplug Carbon Racer

Press Release

Available from Dynaplug...and on the new Cannondale Scalpel.

Our tire-plugging geniuses (and meerkats) have outdone themselves when it comes to lightweight tubeless solutions. Having established ourselves as inventors the best solution for fast repairs in the field, Dynaplug now introduces the new Carbon Racer tool made of glass-filled Nylon to plug pesky punctures that evade sealant.

The new Carbon Racer is only 14g, because every gram counts when you're trying to keep your hip pack from sagging...or are an actual XC racer with results on the line. This is half the weight of the already-light aluminum racer, and still highly durable with a lifetime warranty.

Following the form of the Racer tool, the Carbon Racer is double-sided, with one standard Soft Tip plug and one Megaplug ready to plug almost any type of puncture. Kits include 3 spare plugs and snug snap-on caps to protect each end.

Less weight and faster repairs are the game here. Even the complimentary bolt-on Carbon Silicone tool holder is super-light at 10g, mounting under bottle cages or to other accessory points for maximal tool security and availability for quick puncture plugging. The holder is also compatible with the classic Racer.

I'm all for strapping bulky stuff to your bike, but when something is smaller and lighter than the strap and bracket that hold it on, perhaps a pocket is a better place.

....till it stabs you in the thigh.

 $47 ????

light things tend to cost more money -> see road bikes

@NorthEasternDownhiller: No, that definitely doesn't make sense in this instance. Literally says they're just nylon injection moulded plastic bits. If it was made of some exotic material that had to be strong and light and durable that would be more reasonable. This is not that.

Worth every penny. Small. Lightweight. And really effective. You can plug 6 holes with the plugs that come with the kit. That's what? $30 in tubes?

Carbon Racer: made from nylon and short glass fibers

I got a plug kit off of e bay, does not have the spike or repair plugs but there are 4 rubber plugs of varying colours and all have glitter in them, totally useless.

 Cool story

What kind of plugs did you just buy...?

@danny611: no idea, butt..... They don't fix tyres.

I went to the hardware store on Tuesday. They were sold out of 5mm hex bolts.

I have another dynaplug plug, haven't used it yet and wouldn't spend the money for something you can replace with a cork plug with a needle in it and rubber plugs all pushed into your crank axle, then co2 cartridge with a head so you are done in 10 bucks and still have the wine

 pics of said setup?
  • 4 0
what wine would you recomend . would a full bodied red be ok
  • 1 0
@blowmyfuse: will look at home for it, no pics at the moment, I just get Giant tire plug set, cut off the needle from their tool and stick it into the cork, that's all

You obviously never used a tire plug if you think a cork and a needle will work. I just use the system made by an auto-maker, can’t remember the name, it is a green package. They made the plugs for bikes way before anybody. It is $6-8.

 Slime tire plugger. $5.

@bok-CZ: Love the description in the pic. It's a shame most won't read. Funny stuff! Beer

I'll still buy at Stan's Dart

Got the Dart in my pack. It takes up room, but anything harder than what it has to plug and I'm either using the tube I carry or walking it out.

I have the OG Racer and in thousands of miles I've only had to use it once but in that moment it was worth every penny, maybe more. Would 100% buy this if I didn't already have one.

Thank god! All the extra weight of my regular, non-racing tire plug kit has been absolutely ruining my rides lately.

Looks like having a lite weight tool makes your wallet a lot lighter too?
Why not make something at reasonable price & sell so much more?
Or just make your own tool from a paperclip & a drinking straw to keep it clean?
  • 1 0
I have it, just placed it inside a tiny ziplock bag and added to my strapped tools/tube. You dont get the bling speed bonus though.

$25? Generic version with about 30 strips run about $6 USD right now. Just gotta check reviews and make sure to get a good version.
  • 1 0
No, not every gram counts. Saving 14g is saving a tablespoon of water. Come on...
  • 8 0
But 16 of them is a cup. And 2.4 of them is a pint. And that's just wasted weight if its not beer.

Carbon plugging tool.... Is this even necessary. ... Mad....

 Tact-ti-cool.
