e.thirteen athletes continue tradition of dominance

e.thirteen components’s sponsored riders recorded another fantastic season by winning several National, International and World Championship titles. The season started off with indoor events. Go Huck Yourself hosted the Gathering Competition in the Northwest. Paul Basagoitia of the Kona Clump program earned 2nd in the Dirt Jump event. On the other side of North America, New Jersey boy and Black Market Bikes rider Adam Hauck walked away with the 1st place finish at the Ugly Ass Comp.

Staying stateside, the dirt season began with the Sea Otter Classic. Monster/Iron Horse rider Sabrina Jonnier won the Women’s Dual Slalom and took 4th in the Women’s DH. Tracy Moseley, representing Kona/Les Gets, earned the top spot in the Women’s DH and a bronze in the Women’s DS event. They will continue to battle it out on the World Cup circuit for the rest of the season.

Going to the NORBA-sanctioned National Mountain Bike Series, e.thirteen riders earned a plethora of podium spots. The riders swept the top spots at the Fontana race with Cody Warren of C-dub Racing and Joanna Petterson of Morewood winning the DH titles and Jared Rando of Giant and Leana Gerrard of Bear Naked/Cannondale winning the 4x titles. Sam Hill of Monster/Iron Horse won the Sugar Mountain race in North Carolina by almost 13 seconds. The next weekend at Mt. Snow, Vermont, Sam’s teammate Sabrina Jonnier won the DH title. Sam Hill earned 2nd right behind a former World Champion, Greg Minnaar. Tara Llanes of Giant won the Women’s Dual title. Sam Hill continued with a win at Brian’s Head UT and a silver at Deer Valley and Aspen. Sam Hill, the top rider from the Monster/Iron Horse squad, won the overall DH series. Duncan Riffle of Honda/Iron Horse finished 4th in the DH series, and Cody Warren finished in 5th in the DH as well as a 3rd in the DS series. Back to the women’s side of racing, Jonnier won in Aspen, earned silver at Brian’s Head and finished the point series in second place. Lisa Myklak, Morewood rider, finished 3rd in points, and Wendy Reynolds, Bear Naked/Cannondale, finished 4th in points. Morewood rider Joanna Petterson had a stellar year on the DS track by winning Deer Valley, Petterson also made the podium in 4 out of the 5 DS races and won the overall DS title. More US racing was held at Diablo Freeride Park. Morewood bikes rider Lisa Myklak won the Women’s title while Giant rider Jared Rando took 2nd and Gerrit Beytagh took 3rd in the Men’s category.
Just north of the states in Canada, Team Giant-Canada riders placed 1st and 2nd in the point series. Luke Kitzanuk placed 1st in the series for the second year in a row. His teammate, Eric Goss, placed 2nd in the point series. Geoff Pendral of Devinci/Daredevil placed 3rd, and his teammate Dominik Menard placed 4th. Daredevil/Devinci rider Adrienne Miller won the overall Women’s DH series.

From the National Championships, the riders continued to bring home titles. Honda/Iron Horse rider Duncan Riffle and Giant rider Tara Llanes won their respective DH titles at the United States Championship race in July. Chris Heath, racing for Ft. Lewis and Pedal the Peaks, won the collegiate DH championship and earned 2nd in DS. Leana Gerrard swept both collegiate categories and took home gold in both DH and DS. Just north of the United States, Cove Bikes rider Andrew Mitchell won the Canadian National Championship. Our riders in Europe took several championships as well. MBUK/Santa Cruz team riders won both Men’s 4x and DH gold medals, Will Longden and Marc Beaumont, respectively. Their teammate, Neil Donaghue, earned silver in the DH race. Kona/Les Gets rider Tracy Moseley won gold in the Women’s DH category. 2004 and 2005 World Champion Fabien Barel of Kona/Les Gets won the DH gold in France with Q-bikes rider Mickael Pascal earning silver. Pascal’s teammate, Emmeline Ragot, won the Women’s DH championship in France.

The World Cup scene showed e.thirteen riders in top form. Mick Hannah of Cannondale/The Cut and Tracy Moseley won the DH title in Spain. Moseley continued her streak for the next 2 races at Fort William and Germany and earned silver at Mont-Saint-Anne. Sam Hill won gold in Spain, and Monster/Iron Horse teammate Sabrina Jonnier earned top spot on the box at Mont-Saint-Anne. MS-Racing/Intense racer Chris Kovarik also won gold at Mont-Saint-Anne. The final World Cup race finished with a sweep of all 4 categories. Monster/Iron Horse riders Sam Hill and Sabrina Jonnier won in the DH category while Kona/Les Gets rider Kamil Tatarkovic and NORCO Factory’s Fionn Griffiths won the 4x events. Tracy Moseley won the point series overall in the Women’s DH with Sabrina Jonnier in 2nd and Emmeline Ragot in 4th place. Sam Hill finished 2nd in the point standings.

One of the crowning moments of the season took place in Rotura, New Zealand, with this year’s World Championship. Australian Sam Hill won the Elite DH final by over 4 seconds. Chris Kovarik of MS-Racing/Intense earned 5th. Sam Hill’s Monster/Iron Horse teammate, riding for France, Sabrina Jonnier, won the Elite DH final by over 3 seconds. Tracy Moseley, point series champion, earned silver and Emmeline Ragot of France and Q-bikes earned 5th.

Not to be outdone by the racers, e.thirteen slopestyle riders took home several titles. Cam McCaul, representing Trek, won the Braun 26Trix in Leogang, Austria; the Bearclaw invitational; the Red Bull District ride in Nuremberg, Germany; and finished 2nd at the Crankworx slopestyle event and Kona Jump Jam. Kona Clump 2six ripper Paul Basagoitia took home the gold at the Red Bull District Ride in Catania, Italy; 2nd at the RBD in Nuremberg; and the overall Red Bull District Ride title. Kyle Strait earned bronze at the Crankworx Slopestyle and 4th at the Red Bull District Ride in Nuremberg.
