Eliot Jackson left the California winter for the picturesque landscape of New Zealand to rip it apart on his Pivot Cycles Phoenix Carbon DH. The comeback kid is in his second season of healthy riding and the Queenstown trails are the perfect place to prep for Crankworx and the World Cup Season ahead.
i think what bookieboy is saying is that if he had of put he is the james stewart of DH then some nob head would've said why because he's black thats a bit racist
Takes years to convince Govt./ Council funded enterprises to do anything and when stuff does happen it's never big bucks. The logic is that we should build a 500 mill stadium for RUGBY which only brings tourists in every so often while a 20 mill bikepark that would reel people in all summer is too expensive. The view that mountainbikers are kids on bikes is slowly changing (mostly because private entities like skyline Queenstown are realising how much money they can make.)
You think you guys have trouble... ha ha ha! 99% of the MTB parks in Australia are in Regional, State or National Parks, that means a lot of public consulting, a lot of environmental reports, etc... the New Zealand government from an outsiders point of view seems to be behind it 110%, I hear about a new MTB park being put in every other week... and it's by Australian trail companies, ha!
The only part of Australia that is behind MTB completely is Tasmania.
The new one in Christchurch sounds like it will be good!
Eliots riding may not be as 'savage" as the last few edits from QT lately (they have been amazing!), but his riding is just Class!!!! so stylish and yet effortless at the same time
a bit hesitant to call his riding "Elegant" because of to much machismo in the gravity mtb world, but that is what i would describe his riding, which i try to emulate, because it's so much more fun than just full on bombing down.
I wish we'd see more of Elliot. I think he might be coming back from a long break from DH. The guy is incredibly talented and I'd love to see how he fares on the World Cup Circuit.
I think its great to see a young man ride like that. Whether he's black, green, purple, or plaid. The youth is fortunate to have this technology on their bikes. Back when I was a kid all we had were ball bustin shift levers and a sissy bar that wouldn't stay up and yes, he is the James Stewart of DH. Catch him, if you can. I'm black and don't find it offending at all. You better figure out how to catch him. Actually, he's the Major Taylor of DH.
Which trail at the Q-town bike park has the blue flags on the side of the jumps, the trail Elliot was riding with a decent size table and sweet looking whoops section?
Elliot killed the poor little mushroom. I'm going all wah wah wah.
But Tasty tidbits.
And then I'm all wow I'm high as a a kite....
the music got sooooooo much better then, and the streamers comin' of f his tires were like wheeeew
