Eliot Jackson left the California winter for the picturesque landscape of New Zealand to rip it apart on his Pivot Cycles Phoenix Carbon DH. The comeback kid is in his second season of healthy riding and the Queenstown trails are the perfect place to prep for Crankworx and the World Cup Season ahead.

poor quenstown, everybody is tearing it up these days. Still no breakbumps!
  • 70 2
no shit where did you see him brake aha?!
  • 64 5
Ok im not trying to be racist, but he is the James Stewart of DH!!!
  • 46 11
Why would that be racist? Are you normally racist?
  • 37 0
he's just afraid that mentioning skin color might be racist
  • 34 13
 Except Bubba actually wins.
  • 10 4
i think you need to look up the definition of racism
  • 7 5
 @inter71 - nailed it.
  • 10 1
 Action Jackson!
  • 4 1
I think he fixed the brake bumps.
  • 2 1
i think what bookieboy is saying is that if he had of put he is the james stewart of DH then some nob head would've said why because he's black thats a bit racist
  • 2 2
Well, being black is the only thing they have in common. Aaron Gwin has more in common with James Stewart.
  • 3 0
It's because they both do mental scrubs that he's made that comparison.
  • 2 0
No slippers for this one Eliot?
  • 48 1
the NZ tourist board must be creaming their pants over these videos.
  • 35 1
 They don't have a clue.

Takes years to convince Govt./ Council funded enterprises to do anything and when stuff does happen it's never big bucks. The logic is that we should build a 500 mill stadium for RUGBY which only brings tourists in every so often while a 20 mill bikepark that would reel people in all summer is too expensive. The view that mountainbikers are kids on bikes is slowly changing (mostly because private entities like skyline Queenstown are realising how much money they can make.)

You guys keep at it. We have even bigger problems here. One of our local venues is in a national park. They think MTB is terrible for the environment.
  • 3 0
You think you guys have trouble... ha ha ha! 99% of the MTB parks in Australia are in Regional, State or National Parks, that means a lot of public consulting, a lot of environmental reports, etc... the New Zealand government from an outsiders point of view seems to be behind it 110%, I hear about a new MTB park being put in every other week... and it's by Australian trail companies, ha!

The only part of Australia that is behind MTB completely is Tasmania.

The new one in Christchurch sounds like it will be good!

Eliots riding may not be as 'savage" as the last few edits from QT lately (they have been amazing!), but his riding is just Class!!!! so stylish and yet effortless at the same time
  • 2 0
 He be out-whooped!
  • 30 1
Escape the California winter? Rough weather there
  • 52 0
Yeah it got partly cloudy today, friggin bummer.
  • 11 1
True but don't you guys need about 3 years of rain or is that all scare mongering?
  • 7 0
Forecast - Mostly pretty damn nice with a chance of effin great
  • 2 0
It used to be that riders would come to Cali to escape their winters. Tough life Wink
  • 1 0
just depends on how much rain we get in the coming years...
  • 5 0
@RockstarRacingEst1996 yeah our summer is going to suuuuuck. Historic drought conditions, we're enjoying the "winter" though!

 my favourite rider right there
  • 7 0
Such a stylish rider. Awesome to watch
  • 3 0
a bit hesitant to call his riding "Elegant" because of to much machismo in the gravity mtb world, but that is what i would describe his riding,
which i try to emulate, because it's so much more fun than just full on bombing down.

I wish we'd see more of Elliot. I think he might be coming back from a long break from DH. The guy is incredibly talented and I'd love to see how he fares on the World Cup Circuit.
  • 15 1
he already made his comeback last year, he's been racing worldcups all season on Pivot cycles!
  • 1 0
Ah, I must've missed him. I guess he must not have broken the top 20 at any point. Hopefully, he'll be up to speed this year!
  • 5 0
This video does a great job of showing raw speed, carrying of momentum, and how bad white forks look
  • 1 0
I think its great to see a young man ride like that. Whether he's black, green, purple, or plaid. The youth is fortunate to have this technology on their bikes. Back when I was a kid all we had were ball bustin shift levers and a sissy bar that wouldn't stay up and yes, he is the James Stewart of DH. Catch him, if you can. I'm black and don't find it offending at all. You better figure out how to catch him. Actually, he's the Major Taylor of DH.

Which trail at the Q-town bike park has the blue flags on the side of the jumps, the trail Elliot was riding with a decent size table and sweet looking whoops section?
  • 3 0
so what shock is he running?
  • 2 0
 An rc4 with 2015 sticker i think.
  • 2 0
Yeah the "california winter" sure is rough for riding. It gets into the low 60's during the day!
  • 2 0
Perfect mtn bike video soundtrack - rubber ripping the crap out of soil followed by silence and hub buzz.
  • 1 0
@03:38 - that shock.....is that coil preload/length right? I take it its just for the pop on the jumps? can any one eloborate?
  • 1 0

A DH bike ridden fast, smooth and low (mostly) reminds me of the upcoming WC season. April 11th is not far off now......
