 Damn, Oisin coming out firing.
  • 9 0
Good for him - been hoping he'd be able to have success in Elites after his Juniors run a few years ago. His Mob-Mate also took 5th in the Women's.

 "If you see him...."

Richie Rude on 32... what a beast!
  • 5 1
I could totally see Rude sandbagging. I mean, he gains nothing by placing high in qualifying aside from taking points from friends and competitors.

But it's gonna be fun to see how he does on race day. Aside from a DNS/DNF here or there, he hasn't placed outside the top 10 in a North American DH event in the last 10 years.

@PHeller: I would not bet on him being in the Top 10 this weekend. But proof me wrong Richie!
  • 2 2
@PHeller: He looks insanely in control in all the footage.

Do they check drink bottles in DH ???

BK or DAK! its gotta happen. Lets go boys!!!!

Already thought something is weird that Anna Newkirk wasn't on the startlist and not on the results from timed training... So very happy to see her qualify in 4th. Not so happy to see Abby with a DNF and Lisa Baumann missing to qualify.
  • 9 0
It's great to see Anna do so well. I see her as a bit like Andreas Kolb, who gradually made his way up to the very top over a few seasons. There's nothing on Abby's insta about her DNF, I hope she's OK. Farina is also a DNF, so hopefully she's also alright.

Practice appears to have been a blood bath for the men, look at all those names on the DNS list. Happy thoughts to all the fellas.
  • 2 0
Blimey, yes. Big names out! Would have loved to watch BC on this course
  • 3 0
Indeed. Trek's Instagram had video of Kade hitting a tree, though he didn't seem to be seriously hurt at the time. It looked hard enough you'd be pretty sore after.
  • 8 0
Laurie firing all the cylinders in the legs!
  • 6 0
If I understand Jack Moir correctly, Dean Lucas had to get airlifted out in training.

Man - tough luck for his last race Frown
  • 5 0
Does anyone know what’s happening with the Specialized Gravity tire choices? I noticed on BK’s quali LSD he made a comment that sounded like Loic was running a none Specilized tire with the logo blacked out?
  • 1 0
Yea, their tyres are shit so they use whatever they want and black out the logo, it’s not really a secret, trek riders tend to do it with bontrager tyres too
  • 7 0
Benoît Coulanges DNS, anyone knows what happened ?
  • 7 0
A crash this morning, based on Instagram. No details yet.
  • 8 0
 @donimo: Damn! Hope he's OK.
  • 9 0
Broken scaphoid, out for the season Frown
  • 10 0
Fell off in the rocks and broke his scaphoid. Out for the rest of the season. Heal up soon BC.
  • 4 0
 @MartyMcfly2810: Thanks Damn it!
  • 3 0
 Poor guy.
  • 5 0
What happened to Minnaar? At first I thought he crashed, but his speed was one of the slowest so now I'm wondering if he had a mechanical?
  • 8 0
 Minnaar had a puncture.
  • 8 0
@WellSpoked: again... whats he doing different this year?
  • 5 0
@HeatedRotor: this track has sharp rocks and he’s a big guy
  • 5 0
@drakefan705: nah hes had alot of tyre issues this year for some reason
  • 4 0
 @WellSpoked: Minnaar had a puncture.

Oh, wank.
  • 2 0
@HeatedRotor: well he ain’t doing what Loic is doing - using Conti’s with blacked out logos
  • 1 0
@Bollox64: did you watch that BK clip? BK & Ronan giving Bruni some grief about tyres?
  • 5 0
Damn Super Bruni must have a super line between 2 and 3, closest to him is 1.5 seconds slower
  • 7 0
 Phonebox at split 2?
  • 3 1
Bruni is also threatened by quite a few other riders for the overall as well. He's out there to get as many points as possible, even if he gives away some secrets on the way down. He knows that Goldstone is on home turf at Snowshoe and MSA, so he's out there likely giving it his all to get comfortable with where the limit is. Towards the end of the season there is no reason to sandbag.
  • 2 0
@PHeller: aside from the flag at msa there’s nothing “home turf” about either of those venues to a guy from squamish…
  • 7 0
 Well done Oisin, wow!
  • 4 0
 Big up to WynTv!
If there was no protection, we would t be seeing much of Minnaar? Bloke seems to only had about two full timed runs all season.
  • 6 0
 Mon the Irish boys!
  • 5 0
Matt Walker had some serious speed in first split it looks like
  • 1 0
They should do the semi finals on fat bikes (either hard tail or rigid). That would be a totally different race, super fun to watch, not as serious but with some points to grab anyway, and without spoiling the intensity of the finals.
  • 4 0
Neko and Luca on the bubble
  • 1 4
 Luca is protected.

Neko will be out as there are a few protected riders lower than him. (that's if they take 60, which iirc is correct)
  • 16 0
 @SmashiusJones: it's 60 plus protected riders/
  • 6 1
 Richie...32nd. damn.
  • 3 0
M & F YT riders in top 5! Sweet! That's why I bought a Capra for the northeast rock piles!
  • 3 0
LETS GO DAK! Benoit got the feel good home country win last round, it’s your time to follow that up!
  • 3 0
Vali down 7 seconds at split 2 on Nina and wins by 3 seconds
  • 10 0
I'm going through the split data at the moment and it looks like Nina had a really bad split four. Nina lost 7.457 seconds here to Vali while the rest of the top five lost between 1.6 and 4 seconds.
  • 2 2
@edspratt: so gutted for Nina, pfffff....
  • 1 0
Yeah - what's up with that?
  • 3 0
@edspratt: do you know why Vali was so much back in the first splits?
  • 3 2
@danstonQ: Gutted? She only lost 10 points to Vali. Protect ya guts.
  • 1 0
@CristianoSebastiao: Oh her IG she has pictures of her about to lay the bike down and dragging a knee. Not sure how much time she lost but looked like a significant amount
  • 1 0
What's up with man Finn iles? His performance has come down significantly in the last 3 world cups. Is he sandbagging the qualis?
  • 1 0
Every point counts right now. Is it worth sandbagging?!
  • 1 0
@markcorrigan: That's what I was thinking. But the rock section being brutal I would not be surprised riders taking easy on a 50 point quali and push more on the semis and final.
  • 2 0
Is this live on GCN in the UK?
  • 5 0
No. Qualies have never been broadcast
  • 3 1
Big up the NZ Crew all but one making it in the semi finals
  • 3 1
Big shout to Tahnee and Bernard!! So happy to see those two top 3
  • 3 1
Richie rude nice seeing racing dh
  • 1 0
I understand the P is protected but what does the asterisk mean?
  • 5 0
Aged less than 23 (U23), even though downhill doesn't have a separate race for it.
  • 3 0
U23, I think it is an XC thing

edit: dougfs beat me to it.
  • 1 0
Do the protected riders move ahead of Neko and bump him?
  • 8 0
 @shadfly I don't think so. It's top 60 times + the protected riders.
  • 3 0
Nope he is in! Great to see, hope he gets through semis into finals.
  • 2 0
 Up the parish.
  • 1 0
 Track is running QUICK!
  • 1 0
Is it a bit more direct at the top now?
  • 1 2
What happend to Benoit Coulanges? DNS, So no way to make it in to the Finals.
  • 3 0
I took a look at Instagram and they'd posted an hour ago he had a crash this morning. No further info yet, except that he wasn't going to start today.
  • 1 1
 Who's that Iniguez guy in 11th ?
  • 1 0
 Go Bruni!
  • 1 0
