Sun Valley, Idaho will mark the second stop for the Scott Enduro Cup presented by GoPro race series. In this GoPro course preview, Sun Valley local Greg Randolph shows us his home turf, and some white-knuckle action. Competitors will be challenged on 10 different, hair-on-fire race stages on Bald Mountain. Gravity-hungry athletes will take on one of the longest enduros in the U.S. covering 24 miles and 9,000 vertical descending feet over two days. Racers will use a combination of lifts and good old pedal power to reach the start of each course. Expect the trails to be worthy of anything from a 29′er hard-tail to a 6″ travel all-mountain bike. This race is also a stop on the North American Enduro Tour.

But that's not all the excitement. The enduro cup will take place in the middle of the Smith Optics Ride Sun Valley Bike Festival. Athletes, fans, and vacationers will experience a weekend get-a-way that is off the charts. The festival rides from June 26 - July 5 and is known to be a rowdy and homegrown celebration geared for anyone who enjoys life on two wheels. Guests can participate in a wide array of entertainment and activities, including a downtown bike expo, guided rides for all abilities and a number of raucous community races.

The Scott Enduro Cup presented by GoPro and the Ride Sun Valley Bike Festival is located in the heart of a mountain bike gold-mine. Literally, the town was founded in the 1870s when gold was discovered, and it thrives today as a four season outdoor recreation Mecca. The bike festival features the area's 400+ miles of continuous singletrack, 32 miles of multi-use paved bike paths, two bike parks, and miles of scenic road riding. Located in central Idaho, the northern latitude creates long days of 15 hours of sunshine in the summer, the ideal location for a weekend family get-a-way.

Kinda 29er territory, yeah? No real gnar, just smooth, fast, and in some cases, very long runs. Have fun boys and girls!

I was thinkng the same, but then I just chased a niner down a pretty gnarly trail and only felt held back by him for an instant on the tightest DH line.

That's what I hear from my buddy who raced it last year and it sounds like a low-travel 29er will be right at home... scarily fast, blind corners but classic fast-flowing trails. The best part is that last year he said they didn't allow any practice runs so it makes it extra nerve-racking. Although I'd love to race steep/tech instead, I cannot wait for this. Smile

Sun Valley just got new flow trails that will be added to the course. Just a few minutes away from my house! Super stoked

There's some sweet epic descents in Sun Valley, too bad they're not using any of them.
