Enduro in Chile: Stage 3 of the National Montenbaik Enduro Series in Curacavi

A weekend to be remembered in Curacavi with the National Montenbaik Enduro Series and also with the first edition of the Montenbaik Enduro Kids. One hour from Santiago in the Los Capachos sector, the event brought together the entire family of the Chilean enduro, from the big names, teams, and brands of the sport to the new talent and beginners of all ages.

It was a record of 480 riders on Sunday, along with their families and friends who took advantage of the perfect weather to have an incredible time, both on the bike and in the race village that became a great family party.

The trails for this occasion were exceptional. In addition to a physically and technically demanding line, the perfection of the unsurpassed megagrip that we had thanks to the rains of the week. Almost as if it were scheduled, the weather was on our side. Remember we are talking about Chile, home of the ANTIGRIP, and to ride these trails in wet-but-not-muddy conditions were no less than historical.

Hot and sunny training day in Curacavi. After a week of rain, the terrain was ideal for riders to pedal to the limit.

Saturday also inaugurated the season of the Montenbaik Enduro Kids, an event with categories from 3 to 13 years that emulated an enduro race with all its characteristics.

The race day begins with the delivery of the chips, in charge of the Montenbaik Tech team, which on this date needed a staff reinforcement with the almost 500 registered riders.

The medical and rescue team were also boosted due to the size of the race. Alejandro Nicoreanu organizes the local rescuers for the day of work.

The experience of Jose Manuel Perez is denoted in his collection of time stickers, definitely, this is not his first career.

Pedro Barros opens the stage Espejo XL, where the race day begins with the pilots of Enduro2.

There are some Montenbaikers who have a special way to get to Curacaví.

In the Enduro 2 category, some very young riders make their debut on the Curacaví tracks.

The terrain in Curacaví is something special. At the top of the hill, quartz stones are found everywhere.

An unexpected change. The Enduro 1 riders were able to enjoy the last two stages with sun and the perfect grip.

One more novelty for the locals was the last leg of the Las Turcas stage.

The final turns of La Turcas. Even with the megagrip this area put several in trouble.

Trailbuilder Pierre Plaza was attentive to the development of the race. Despite his dislocated shoulder, he did not stop working the whole event.

Felipe Vial was the fastest of the day. After a very good season in 2016 when he finished with the third place in the national ranking, 2017 has not been easy despite the good results. At this moment without an official team and with a 2016 bike, Felipe is demonstrating that he can be the fastest in Chile.

The good atmosphere is breathed and lived in a Montenbaik Enduro. The top 10 riders climb to Escalones, the last stage of the day.

Antonio Leiva is one of the big names of Chilean MTB. Apart from winning the Master C category, he is one of the supporters of the new Montenbaik Enduro Kids with prizes from his brand Kido Outdoors.

The day ends with the finish line next to the race village where the audience awaits the final results.

All pilots and public enjoy and chill with the evening sun.

And the winner is ... Felipe Vial in his first overall win in a Montenbaik Enduro, adding emotion to the ranking of the Chilean championship.

Cerveceria Kross never fails. Pierre Plaza and the Motorex team enjoy the Golden and the Pilsen.

The locals of Curacaví were also present with their barbecue trailer and to enjoy the race.
