Attention Filmmakers: Race Face Wants to Fund Your Projects with the Creator Series

Mar 23, 2019
by Race Face

The global mountain bike community is an amazing collection of characters, stories and locations, a culture that Race Face is so proud to be a part of. There are so many great stories out there waiting to inspire, reminding us of the connections that bind us together as riders.

Are you a filmmaker, accomplished or aspiring, that has been sitting on a story that you want to tell but have been short on the resources to bring it to life?  Someone with an idea that needs its big break?

We've designed the Race Face Creator Series to provide you the opportunity to tell that story in your own voice – uncompromised, no pressure from sponsors, just you and your vision. We're offering three budget levels to choose from (1-10k, 10-25k, 25k+) to ensure you're able to fully realize your project.

We’re putting out an open call for filmmakers to pitch us unique mountain bike-related stories. We want you to look beyond the shreddit –  digging deeper for those inspiring stories waiting to be told. There certainly can be riding in your video project but it needs to be part of a bigger story.

Submissions
Submit your pitch to us in whatever form you feel best showcases your talents, your idea, and your passion – videos, animations, presentations, you name it, we’ll take a look. We only ask that you include:

- Your name
- Contact info
- A full budget break-down
- Timeline for your project
- Samples of previous work (demo reel)

For a more detailed description of the submission guidelines, please visit: www.creatorseries.com

Timelines
We will have a submission cut-off of May 8th, 2019. Submissions will then be reviewed by our Creator Series selection committee, made up of legendary riders, and creative visionaries. They'll sift through the pitches, looking for out-of-the-box ideas and then projects are selected, filmmakers contacted, funding provided and timelines set to bring these unique visions to life.

On May 22 we will announce the chosen projects on the Creator Series website and over the next few months the filmmakers will bring their project to life. Final cuts will be delivered by the end of August and we will start debuting the Creator Series projects in September!

Don’t want to submit a pitch but want to follow along with the filmmakers’ journeys? We’ll have regular behind-the-scenes footage for you track the progress and experiences of the filmmakers, so give us a follow on social media and sign up for our newsletter on the Creator Series website to receive exclusive updates!

@raceface: if you really want to give back, try figuring out the pedal inserts in carbon cranks and warranty they when they fail.

@bubbrubb: I gave up and went with the Turbines... much better crank. Not much heavier.

 @bubbrubb: Harsh. Harsh but true.

I absolutely love this idea and it's nice to see that a major company like Race Face is open to supporting filmmakers achieve their vision. I only have two quick questions.

Is the contest open to filmmakers from across the pond if the application is in English? If so, does the spoken language in the finished film matter if there are English subtitles?

It's open to filmmakers across the globe so feel free to send in a pitch! It would probably hit a wider audience if you could do subtitles so probably a good idea, yes.

How many people do you plan to pick? Variety? Cheers! Looking forward to submitting Smile

The amount of people will depend on how many apply and the strength of the applications. We definitely don't want to limit ourselves if there's a bunch of good ideas coming in!

Reminds me of the old video challenge that found us Kurt Sorge back in the day. Good work Raceface, keep it up.

Maybe once these bike companys might do something for the people that build trails.....

Maybe not exactly what you're thinking of, but for what it's worth, the North Shore Mountain Bike Association (our local trail building and advocacy organization) has both a corporate trail adoption program where companies can contribute both money and labor hours to maintaining a trail, as well as a general corporate sponsorship program.

From what I can tell, race face participates in both.

@KennyWatson: Yes we do support the NSMBA as both a participant in their Trail Adoption Program and as the sponsor of the Race Face Shore Corps - a dedicated group of trained trail builders that work tirelessly on the Shore trail network, maintaining and building new lines!

We love to support trail builders and networks...but there is always more to do! Maybe you can look at teaming up with a filmmaker to document the building of a unique trail!! We are open all ideas for the Creator Series projects!!
