On the ninth day of Christmas pinkbike clickbaited me, just to see @sewer-rat s comment and dont participate at the calender anymore. Because no one of us wins.
Why does everyone complain? they are giving away free items to us I really want to win this one think its a great option vs carrying one in your pocket then you always have it
@Lokirides: I think he is being sarcastic. If they could find a way to get the tyre lever and chain tool onto something like this that doesn't require threading into the steerer that would be great. The Spedialized SWAT steerer tool has quite a good way of doing it, yes you have to take the thing apart, but a chain tool really is for emergencies only.
@melonhead1145: I always thought it would be nice if someone would integrate the (tire- and/or shock-)pump inside the steerer. The diameter seems adequate for a tire pump. If you make two concentric parts and you lock the outer part you can use it as a shock pump. We've seen different ways of preloading the headset already and some of these would be compatible with such a system. Only hassle I see is that the hose would have to be quite long to reach the rear tire valve.
I personally prefer the chain tool as a separate tool. This tool has everything you might need frequently and quickly (if you like to tinker on the trail or if your bike breaks often. Only thing you might also need in a rush would be tire plugs. But yeah as you mention, One Up offers different solutions for everyone. Complaining about them offering something that doesn't suit you is just complaining for complainings' sake.
The threaded version has all of that.. there’s not enough room on most people’s steer tube to be able to make the edc lite any longer to accommodate more tools so I don’t see that being an option
@mstokman: Yeah, but what I meant to say was that it would be interesting to have a pump that stays inside the steerer. You just attach a hose between the valve and the bottom of the shock and just pump the piston without having to hold the other part of the pump with your other hand. I think I'd appreciate that. If I were looking for a "complete solution" out of what they currently offer I think I'd prefer their EDC unit that goes inside a pump that mounts to the bottle mount. It even makes sense on bikes that have the "bottle mount" under the downtube where most of us wouldn't like to store their bottle. It still makes for a good place to store such a EDC unit. Yet again, I do think there is more than enough purpose for this EDC lite. For people riding more than one mountainbike, I even think it is nice that they offer the empty sleeve as spare so that people can transfer their tool between bikes.
There is an EDC backpack that has a chaintool, pump, rain jacket, hoagie, cassette tool, spare rotor, 2 shift cables, a bag of gummy bears and one sock. EDC XTRA thicc
Hard to get exited about prizes everyone can buy for themselves if they needed or wanted them....How about a mostly carbon cockpit, drooper and wheel package One-up, the stuff dreams are made of ...that would put a smile on my face christmas morning.
Looking forward to complain about prizes I wont win tomorrow.
And yes to the Podcast sign along to the sewer-rat song. Not only Levy but the whole PB staff should sing a line each on the last podcast of the year!
No, I actually think this makes a lot of sense. If one finds him/herself disappointed for not winning this one, you know you really want one and you'll probably buy it anyway. So for One Up this is actually a good way to bring attention to this product and they may find more people buying it after the draw. Whereas these super-fancy carbon shizzles, even if you fancy it. If you don't win it you won't buy it immediately. Instead you might save up, then realize that same amount of money buys you something else nice.
Plus, they aren't giving $40 worth of goods here, they're giving away $400. That seems on par with some other fancy stuff given away here.
@vinay: Take your marketing logic and positve attitude elsewhere...Me :.I want bling, Ooooohs and Aaaahs and something to complain about when I dont win it. You: Just got clinkbaited and sucked into buying something you dont need anymore then I need thier sexy carbon bars. You wont complain and will be genuinely happy for the 10 people who win it. Me: I want real clickbait, this thing is rigged by AI bots! You: What a great product if I dont win I will go to my local shop and buy one " insert sheep noise here". To each their own.

Pinkbike readers - "This is great but if it had (something else) it would be better...for free."
Also Pinkbike readers - "Who do I need to know to win something. I never win."
So happy!
