“Santa Cruz Bicycles are once again proud to introduce what was universally voted the must-do event of the year. Last year’s Ard Rock was the perfect combination of challenging trails, good vibes and a festival atmosphere and we’re looking forward to taking it further for 2016. More bikes, more bands, more beer, MORE ROCK!” Dickon Hepworth, Santa Cruz Bicycles

The Ard Rock Enduro takes place on rock-strewn, rough terrain on private tracks, all incorporated into a big day out in the Dales. One off trails, specially designed for the weekend and access to private land means Ard Rock takes in gnarly, rock-strewn terrain only rideable in the event. Topped off with industry leading expo stands, live music, entertainment, food and real Ale bars all weekend long.

Saturday hosts the legendary Ard Rock Enduro. A specially designed 45km loop (measured in country miles) with 5-6 Alpine-style stages on natural rock-strewn terrain, and optional practice on Friday. The Enduro Sport Class takes place on Sunday following exactly the same route and timed stages, but it’s for riders who care more about completing the challenge and the adventure than every tenth of a second.

A great atmosphere awaits
Sponsors Santa Cruz Bicycles and Mavic are joined in the pits by leading companies such as Hope Technology, Enve, Exposure Lights and Julbo Eyewear

This year, I went, got sick and spent the whole weekend in my tent puking. Last year, I went, kissed the rocks on Saturday and didn't get to race Sunday. . Next year, I'm booked for a few weeks in Whistler at the start of August. Probably just as well, the event's epic but it's definitely trying to kill me! Good luck to the rest of you and be careful on point'n'chute.

Was at 6:30am yrying to get a ticket but it just kept saying they are unavailable they have been allocated tomother customers kept refreshing hoping to get a ticket then finally.one opened clicked register and then it gave me a message saying unavailable and now its sold out twice in a row that theyve sold out fast how annoying.

And you have to pay more if you care about your time.

Sounds like I was lucky to get one! I was refreshing the page at 6.30 so was on there within seconds of them going live

Yep two years in a row of being sold out. But tbh the fornat that i did in 2014 was much better full practice loop on the saturday or a two stage practice optional. Then race on the sunday. Ended up doing 80k of riding over two days for the same price. now its a 2 stage practice on the friday. Having to take a day off work for two stages and then race the saturday and pay and extra £10 if you are bothered about your time and want to go in a faster category. Think i may just do the sport turn up on the sunday and leave on the sundy and cut camping costs

The method of buying tickets seems a bit mad especially as you can buy 8 at once. Maybe registering and having a random draw would be a better method for such a popular event.

It seems like a free for all on the tickets but they are doing ard moors race which is run by the sane people so might do that

Is it possible to ride these trails when the event isn't on? Are they part of a trail centre or something similar?
  • 1 0
As far as I know thay are all closed trails, private land.
  • 1 0
If you ride with the dale center (who organise the race itself) you can can ride some of it, other bits of the race are on privite property and won't get access to.

It's worth a ride around that area on the public trails, there's some fantastic riding!

welcome to rip off Britain Wink

 How much is it?
  • 1 0
Or £48 for the sport which apparently takes in the same trails this year
  • 1 0
Sold out in under 30mins, not rip off Britain, its supply and demand.

 Ha sorry

Didn't mean that to sound negative! I did the sport last year and given the price of sporting events in general thought it was really good value given how good and well organised the event is - I meant it is better value: last year the sport event was only 3 of the 5 trails, this year the sport enduro is all 5. Got my ticket, can't wait for August to roll around again so I can once again be mediocre in a sporting event I really enjoy!
