PRESS RELEASE: Washington State's Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance

New for 2020, Washington State's Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance, a 501c3 trail building and mountain bike advocacy organization, is excited to host the Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day Virtual Challenge, facilitated by Compass Outdoor Adventures on Saturday, October 3rd.

Participants can join in on the day’s all-ages festivities from any trail, anywhere in the world. Online scavenger hunts, creative challenges, and fun ideas for getting out and riding will make for an inspiring day in a family-friendly and inclusive environment.

The free event officially starts at 10am PST, but pre-ride missions will be released at 6am PST for those who want a head start!

Using the Goosechase online scavenger hunt app as a platform, families (or COVID pods) will be guided through a series of 50 mountain bike related challenges– everything from riding your bike, to drawing your favorite trail, to answering quiz questions. For every challenge completed, you’ll earn points in a friendly competition. Don’t feel like competing? No problem. Sit back and use the challenge prompts presented by live hosts at Compass to fuel your day’s mountain bike fun.

Later in the day, a prize package (worth over $1,200!) will be awarded to one lucky team.

Sample challenges include a helmet decoration contest, mountain bike Haiku, dream trail drawing, visiting your local bike shop, and various bike skills challenges.

Event Schedule (all times PST) October 3rd:

6am: Pre-ride missions unlocked (feel free to start the challenge)

10am: Official start to the Challenge, all missions unlocked

4pm: Challenge closed and winner announced via Zoom

They are also giving members a free facemask and fender if they renew and BOOST now, thanks Evergreen! I've never seen such a good membership deal.

Sounds like fun idea but I'lll need a big piece of paper to draw a trail. But I'm already working on a haiku.

These Compass Outdoor Adventure scavenger hunts are amazing. My family participated in a bunch of them last spring and had a blast. Combine that fun with Evergreen Mt. Bike Alliance, the best thing for WA trails and communities, and it should be good times for everyone!
