After a week off and the international opening season in South Africa, we fly to Cairns in Australia, competing for the second round of the World Cup.
The Australian track is located in the middle of the jungle/rain forest with all the spiders, snakes… you can imagine. With 30° and 100% of humidity the track pretty was wet, muddy and sticky between two heavy Australian showers. It was so exciting to have a new track, some bumps at the top follow buy a technical rock garden and a very hard off-camber. The middle was pretty fun and fast with some big jumps, whoops and two uphill following by two horrible flat sections. The end was more technical but to flat and very hard, and a 20 second flat section of hard pedaling to cross the finish line.
It took us a while to find the right trimmings and thus ensure that bikes would be adapted to the track. But our perseverance paid off and we finally felt comfortable to ride.
Florent, Cyrille, Toni and Morgane qualified for the final with the hardest race they have ever had.
