The history of the EVO Bike Park started with a group of riders who had the notion to create a perfect open-all-year-round spot to ride in France. One with exceptional tracks that were both well shaped and well maintained - just like the Coast Gravity Park in Canada! Thomas Di Giovanni (Photographer & Videographer), Romain Baghe (Pro Freeride Mountain Biker) and Hugo Schoonheere (DH Rider) formed the magnificent trio behind the plan to build a bike park -
"we were quickly endeared by their motivation and in fact, as a result, they have since become COMMENCAL riders and we are supporting the project by partnering with the bike park" - COMMENCAL. There are some opportunities that you simply shouldn’t miss and this is one of them!
Remy Metailler: “I really enjoyed myself. These are some of the best tracks I’ve ridden, even compared to Whistler and the Coast Gravity Park. There is an enormous amount of flow and good lines to be had. It was a superb experience and I can’t wait to go back. The park will become the place to go in France and the rest of Europe.”Remi Thirion: “I have ridden the park and there are some amazing and well shaped tracks. I really liked the (Freeride) track with the jumps and I will be coming back here to train and recommend coming to see how good it is for yourself!”These two comments already say a lot about the future of this bike park!
Here are a few reasons why you need to ride here…- Location: Next to Digne-les-Bains in the South of France and set in a majestic setting not far from Black Earth (2 hours from Nice, Grenoble, etc)
- Tracks: Multiple Black, Red options and a single Blue track, a pump track, a slopestyle track - the choice is big and accessible to a large number of riders. The shuttle buses, complete with trailers, provide motorised uplifts!
- Open: All year round with no off-season. A first in France, but the precise grand opening date is dependant on the progress of the project. Read on…
- Prices: This is where you can be part of the scene! Are you tempted to become an investor in a bike park?
A crowdfunding concept has been put into place to help finish off the project and to do it as quickly as possible (scheduled for 2nd half of 2016, TBC), which you can donate to via this link
indiegogo.com/projects/evo-bike-park - the three bike park developers offer you the chance to purchase pass packages with values ranging between 20€ and 500€ incorporating riding and uplifts once the park opens. The sooner the funds are collected, the sooner everyone can go and ride the bike park. So, with the crowdfunding system in place, everyone’s a winner!
For those interested, this money will help to fund the use of diggers, the fuel for such machines, the purchase of wood for the infrastructure and construction of features, the purchase of the uplift vehicles and to build an effective bike trailer, and to help keep the park well signposted and navigable.
So what’s the next step? You can start by helping to finance the project here
indiegogo.com/projects/evo-bike-park and then book a trip to stay in the south of France next spring. It’s a magnificent location and will quickly become a favourable holiday destination!
