Great to see Martin Maes putting it together again for some dominant tmes! Jesse Melamed is right there again too! Looks like he must have had an issue in the first stage but 2nd and 3rd on stage 2 and 3 is pretty awesome! Will be interesting to see if he can pull himself back on the podium at the end. He definitely has the speed!
1 October, 2016 - 16:57:44 ACC Anne Caroline Chausson won’t be racing tomorrow, so stage 3 was her last ever EWS stage, and her fellow racers decided to make sure she had a good send off. We’ll miss you at the races Anne!
ACC is a hero. Even without having gone through such an illness, it is amazing she's been going for so long. Been performing so well in so many disciplines. She is relatively shy compared to the current top performers in the ladies field, but the facts alone should make her an inspiration for anyone whether you want to become a top athlete or have to battle a terrible dissease. Tough as she is, I wish her a long healty life outside racing, but full of amazing epic rides.
So stoked for Anne-Caro! Too bad she's retiring, but after all what she went through, that's totally understandable. I wish her the best for her post-racing career.
Italian public service is usually pretty serious about their job... like doctors will put you into a heli with a broken ankle, or cops can give you a fine for pulling wheelies. I got stopped by Carabinieri for doing S-turns and bunny hops on empty asphalt road, despite staying within my lane. Dude was really upset.
@PanCascadian: the end result was an ankle, but from what I have heard he had a pretty nasty wreck and destroyed his helmet. With any head injury they are going to take the upmost precaution to be certain he doesn't have any neck injury that could become worse in the handling of him.
Feels a bit sad. ACC retired, Vouilloz retired, peaty retired, Tracy Mosely retired, ratboy canal boat sabbatical, stevie smith.... 2016 will be seen as another changing of the guard. Good luck guys/girls.
MTB is awesome and will survive and grow.........roll on 2017!!!!!!!
No one else noticed Bruni and Minaar further down the standings? (Around 80th). Makes me believe Sam put a little bit more focus into EWS than DH this season.
I wish there was live coverage. I know there are challenges do to the climbing. But the magic of TV is that you can run interviews, slam us with adds if you will but figure out coverage!
@jclnv: @Marco1972: OK checked it at Anneke herself today. She is NOT retiring form Enduro racing. Her reply was: "...Noooooooo! Not true at all, hoping to keep my wheels spinning for a couple more years...."
Aren't you guys mixing up Anneke with Anne Caroline. I know, so difficult all those foreign names
@kusanagi72: it was definitely stated somewhere that she was retiring. I was as surprised as you. I'll have a look for it tonight but must have been on here or Cital.
If everyone ran it blind - he'd be right up there. I like the idea of running it blind - How is Enduro not like a multiple DH run event on smaller bikes?
If Graves truly suffered a dislocated ankle he won't be back in 2016. Generally ankle dislocations are a catastrophic injury, combined with ligament tears and broken bones. If he comes back it's 2018 at the earliest.
I would agree if you said hard injury...not catastrophic.
This guys are pros and when it comes to injuries they know how to treat it and heal it faster than anybody else.
Wishing strong recovery for Graves
I broke my ankle in dramatic fashion. With things being broken they were dislocated as well. I was on a bike in 3-4 months. Everybody is different, but coming back in 2018 is a bit much.
@dddirt he'll be back earlier I imagine, but your timeline for getting back to 100% is probably pretty spot on. Completely agree ankle dislocations are an horrendous injury. If it's bad enough he won't be back - Corrado Herrin never came back from a ankle dislocation in the late 90's.
