Wow Richie! Beast mode...what a legacy Yeti is leaving in the racing world.

They've done well to utilize experienced talent such as Graves to tutor raw talent like Rude. Rude's rise to the top of the EWS has been meteoric, it seemed like the other day it was all about Graves, Clementz, and Barel...

They've got some incredible athletes and people in the fold. Always wondered how those Yeti's ride, never had a chance to hop on one.

The switch infinity really puts me off though. They should have stuck with bearings. I'm sure it works really well but in six years when your frame has been hanging on the wall for the past two of them and you want to get it going again for your son or brother in law... Good luck. As soon as they change the design again which is sure to happen sooner or later, you're stuck with six thousand dollars worth of worthless plastic.

Totally with you JAAME,. my first thought when I rode my brand new Sb6 for the for the first time was how can I keep this maintained well enough so someone else can ride it in 6 years... No, not really... I don't give a damn about my brother in law ... but I love that bike!

If a man wants to be your brother in law, riding your bike is not his priority or even in his list.

All I'm saying is, bearings aren't going to be obsolete any time soon. That twin shaft system is. And that is why I would never buy one.

That's a bit like saying, "I'm never going to buy a Santa Cruz, their rear triangles won't fit on my next bike."
  • 4 5
No, it's not like saying that. Santa Cruz understand that you want an expensive bike to last ages and be user serviceable. Hence why they use bearings and threaded bottom brackets. When yeti change the design, and they will, Fox will stop supporting it and everyone who has one will be up shit creek without a paddle when it breaks or wears out. I would say the nomad is the smarter buy, unless you're a dentist.

@jaame 1) if you check out yetis home page they still have spars for bikes from early 2000 on their website and i know from personal experience they have even more if you call them.
2) the bushings are standard fox suspension parts and wont become obsolete any time soon either.
3) If you like expensive bikes with the latest technology its very unlikely you will ride the same bike for ages but will most likely want the next big thing as soon as its available.
4) I am not a dentist, but i rode both bikes before i bought my sb6 and didn't need to think twice which one to go for. I am now really curious by what means the bike that doesn't suite me as well geo-wise and is the slower climber would have been the smarter buy. OK I admit i was a bit biased as i on multiple of the turquoise machines but on the other side wanted to own one of Minnaar-Peaty-Ratties bike forever too...

My feeling is you are just trying to hate...

I'm not a hater. I love Yeti's history and heritage. I'm a realist. I believe all these bikes are excellent and you pretty much can't go wrong. I believe the weekend warrior like myself could not tell the difference since they all have the same geometry and build kits. I also believe mass market parts such as cartridge bearings are a much wiser choice than some bespoke sliding track thingy made by a different company. Choosing the best enduro bike these days is splitting hairs. Ergo, I personally would go for one that is less hassle to keep sweet. I feel this design is different for the sake of it, and not in a good way. I don't believe I could tell the difference between it and anything else in a blind test. I did not know that about the spare parts though. That's good of them to keep a large back catalogue. If they used normal bearings they wouldn't have to, but it proves me wrong for sure.

For you guys who watched Atherton Project S3Ep6 and remember when Rachel Atherton said we need to incorporate boats in bike races. I think stage 8 was the situation she had in mind!
