Ezra Joins the Pinkbike Editorial Team [April Fools]

Focused, diverse, cutting edge, and collaborative. Pinkbike strives to lead the mountain bike world in news, photos, videos, events, trails, and more. Our quality journalism and community-driven approach attract over 2.5 million readers a month. At Pinkbike, we work to get people and their dogs fired up on mountain biking every day and we’re working hard to spread that message globally. As our four-pawed readership continues to expand, a new Canine Content Specialist will help us build on that growth. Who better to join the team than @IamTheDogEzra?

bigquotesWhen Pinkbike reached out about becoming the first canine editor I was overcome with joy. I performed the seven circles of excitement and precisely 29 tippy taps (not affiliated with wheelsize). It was as though my human returned from somewhere after being gone for upwards of five minutes. SHEER ELATION. I did not do that thing I do where I pee a little bit though, thankfully, because it is quite embarrassing.

I look forward to tackling pressing issues for the riding dogs out there. I also really look forward to barking at things for no reason other than it seems like the right thing to do and also not listening to humans when it suits me but still expecting a ride home and some treats.
IamTheDogEzra

Key projects Ezra will focus on:

• High volume or low volume squeak toys? Some dogs prefer a more linear mouth feel while others like a strong ramp up at the end to prevent bottom out.

• Puddle water shootout. We'll delve into which puddles should be splashed in, laid in or drank from. The answers might surprise you!

• How to check pressure in plus tires. We all know that some dogs have a hard time getting their mouth around this new standard and we want to Boost awareness about preferred methods for pressure testing.

Also, look for:

• Canine tech, including reviewing dog riding apparel, tennis balls, travel accessories, food, leashes, grooming tools, recovery tools, and more!
• Trail Dog Owner Training video series
• Tips for getting through flea and tick season
• Mongrel Movies Monday
• More advocating on behalf of trail dogs worldwide
• Dogs, dogs and more dogs in all of our Photo Epics
• Yoga for dogs, with a focus on the Downward Dog posture, great for relieving tired muscles after riding

This is some quality content right here. I look forward to some dog toy reviews so I know what to buy my pooch.

Wait for the PB price comments! "This costs far too much, I can get a rubber burrito for $2.99 at Wal Mart ..."
  • 28 2
Rollin down the street, licking your face after an endo, chewing up your brand new shoes. Laid back, with my mind on sniffing butt holes and sniffing butt holes on my mind.

This could totally be a real thing. I can see lots of debates on appropriate stick width, the no dig no run rule, and natural trails vs paw groomed.

When I saw the announcement about Ezra I thought “it better be the f*cking dog!”

@gonecoastal Right? I mean, what's better than ezra?!

This is the editor we have all been waiting for. Congratulation @IAmTheDogEzra, looking forward to your views on the changing standards within the chew toy industry. Maybe you could get the scoop on those humans who think its okay to decorate hanging tree branches with little plastic bags of faeces.

You know it. Dog is really good. I recommend BBQ sauce.
  • 2 0
@drpepperrider2 I’ve been waiting for the April Fools joke! I really hope this isn’t a joke!
  • 17 1
As someone named Ezra this headline had me very excited and confused for a brief moment, followed by crushing disappointment. I might not be as good a boy but I guarantee my vocabulary is at least slightly better than this Ezra-imposter.
  • 3 0
As a fan of the esoteric group, Better than Ezra, I’ve always wanted to meet an actual Ezra irl.
  • 1 0
@speed10: They certainly are not! I've also met so many Ezras. It's actually kinda weird.
  • 2 0
@rezrov: do you have a natural hatred for the band? That would be understandable since they are seemingly taking a needless jab at your people.
  • 3 1
@speed10: Yes. And I find it extra insulting in that they're 90s alt-rock, my most despised of genres. Except for the Pixies. They a'ight.
  • 6 0
@rezrov: who tf hates 90s alt-rock?? let me guess, e-bike?
  • 4 0
@mpcremata: Everybodyy hurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrts, and everyybodyyyy criiiiiiiiiiiies.

My motor is beans and methane.
  • 4 0
@rezrov: Alright, fine, but that is like the lamest 90s alt-rock song ever. Radiohead, Pearl Jam, NIN, Rage Against the Machine, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Tool, STP....hell even REM has some good stuff. That was the last golden age of rock.
  • 2 0
@rezrov: In fairness, that song won a ton of awards. I like it. Maybe you are dead inside?
  • 1 0
@speed10: It's so, so bad. I thought it was a parody for the longest time! It's like dad-emo.

@mpcremata RAtM, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, and Tool are all either various forms of metal or grunge.

Those could have alt rock thrown in there, but when I think 90s alt rock I think REM, BNL, The Tragically Hip, The Pixies, Radiohead, etc.
  • 3 0
@rezrov: Grunge was one of the quintessential forms of alt-rock. Alt-rock is a broad label, but even painting with your extremely narrow brush you're including Radiohead, one of the greatest rock bands of all time, and The Pixies, who you even conceded were "a'ight."

Man, it's nice to argue about something other than ebikes and 12-speed drivetrains for a change...
  • 1 0
@rezrov: My jaw just hit the lunchroom floor. Do you dare disgrace the L'Unifolié and throw shade on the Tragically Hip? I think you can get deported for that.
  • 1 0
@speed10: Canadian musical talent ends with Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, and The Band! *shakes fist*

@mpcremata The 90s is a stain on decades. Wink
  • 2 0
@rezrov: The 90s were the best thing to happen to rock since The Beatles! *slams table*

How can you be a fan of The Band and such an otherwise terrible judge of music?
  • 1 0
yeah, I’ve never met an Ezra, as I initially stated. You’ve set a bad precedent. Perhaps “Better than Ezra” was a low bar. It all makes sense. You said they were bad, they claimed better than you? Both right? Wink
  • 2 0
@speed10: You just admitted BTE is bad! cheque, m8.

Anyway, us Ezras do tend to be a little weird. Could be worse. Could be a roadie.
  • 2 0
@rezrov: I knew a roadie once. He was a real smooth dude.
  • 17 0
We need to talk about the double standard of horse poop being allowed on the trail versus the respected art of picking up your feces.
  • 12 1
I think your first articals should be about responsible dog training (fitness) and how its important to keep you dog in good shape and let then get strong after winter just like us as well as not running them untill there mature and there bodys are strong if you want it to last a long time.
Most dogs arnt designed to run at a bikes pace for a bikes distance. I learnt this the hard way when my dogs hips starting giving out at 7 years old. I wish i had kept her to shorter rides and kept the pace down in hindsight.
Just one dog owners thoughsb

Yeah a good pinkbike psa on that needs to happen. We've always had working dogs on a cattle ranch and when riding horses we made a point to never go long and hard with the dogs. They are meant for short sprints and walkabouts, not big miles. I see too many bro pics of good dogs destroying their bodies on what seem to be fast and too long of distance. The dogs love it until their bodies fade. Sad for the little guys.

Is this an accidental release of the April fools joke?

If not then I'm kind of excited but I will wait until I know it is real.
  • 3 0
 That was my first thought.
  • 14 1
 I hope it’s real.
  • 2 0
No, it is March 30 now and above the article it says "coming up: in 2 days" but it is weekend now so I don't do math. My guess is that it's real.
  • 1 0
It says coming up in 5hrs, so I think it's AF, but I love it
  • 1 0
@mtbikeaddict: It is already AF fools over here so bring it on, fool me!
  • 13 0
Its real. Dogs can type and talk like anyone else.
  • 11 0
Super stoked for you Erza! Good boy!
  • 8 0
This is much cuter than the Sram 28.99mm Dub crank spindle April fools joke from last year.
  • 5 0
The funny part is that almost all the comments are in favor of having a dog on staff. Actually riding usually seems better with your dog, why not? Every second day you could have a short video of the dog on the trail or hanging out while people drink beer, it'd probably the only article nobody was angry about that day, and could probably turn into a product placement advertising goldmine.
  • 6 0
If ever there was a time to make the April Fools joke a reality this would be it.
  • 7 0
Careful Ezra, i hear working at PB can be ruff !!
  • 7 0
I'll have Ezra working like a dog.
  • 2 0
@brianpark: you could get Ezra to interview Snuff about the ups and downs of the responsibilities involved looking after a human like Casey Brown.
  • 6 1
This is (at least one of) my favorite PB article(s) ever. Change my mind. And that quote from Ezra... Pure Gold. Big Grin
  • 3 0

That time that the pinkbike april fools joke backfired because people realised that it was the author they always wanted...
  • 1 0
This is actually brilliant!!! All jokes aside PB can definitely use a daily dose of pooch from time to time! Will post photos with my Border Collie as soon as the snow melts and the trails open!!!
  • 2 0
This is so great Ezra, congrats! I always love your view on everything and it helps me see things from a different perspective. Cheers!

plenty of good boys and girls... 11/10 sad that its a joke.

I'm really okay with this not being an April Fools thing, and a real super awesome thing - just sayin'!

I'd like an article on the correct Bone size... 148mm or 142mm.
  • 1 0
I hope to see some taste tests of various tires. My pooch preffered Maxxis over Bontrager for a chewtoy for instance. She never liked my Michelins though.

 Amazing pictures. Who took them?

Pretty sure this is somehow related to ASMR
