For everyone that says it video is amateurish, I know that. Im 17 with minimal experience and just decided to throw it up on pinkbike. I made the video just as fun thing with Richie and if you're looking for a more professional video don't worry, it will come. (not made by me)
No worries, kid, it's a tough crowd. He's definitely over-biked in some of the early trails, but you caught some nice gaps in the later rocky bits. Richie makes it look smooth. Lines are on point.
Props dude, it's a lot of work to make even a bare minimum edit. Yours is pretty solid too. My only real complaint is the song, it's way overused in action sports vids. I enjoyed the video though!
No slow-mo, clear shots and audio levels that focus on the sound of the bike and rider on the trail.. Well done! Better than the majority of the rubbish on here
Well done man. I'd say that if you wanted to work on something for next time it would just have to be more consistent camera movements. Great work though!!!
Awesome man, as long as it's not another whistler video and actually trails that most of us rides everyday just slower, tops many of the other pro videos here.
this video is dope, keep shooting.
as for the trails... always fun watching someone gap a trail at wide open that you crawl down for the whole summer...
@tjbiker38 I think it was a great video; I like "amateurish", because in this case, it's simple, pretty well filmed and not overly cinematic. Bike videos are starting to look like ski videos, with all the drama and cinematography and bullshit. I think Chris Akrigg's videos are the pinnacle of "amateurish" but still incredibly well done. Yeah, you might have a little work to do to be an expert cameraman, but you're a hell of a lot better than most people who would criticize you.
I challenge everyone to try to make a video of their buddies riding, and see how it turns out. It's a lot harder to come up with a polished finished product like this than most people realize. Props, Thomas
For what it's worth mate I really enjoyed that and watched all the way through, something I can't say for most videos on here. I like the unfluffed filming/effects and backing off on the music volume. It's also really nice to see the elite of our sport filmed in such relaxed casual setting, just every day riding. If everyone made films like Anthill from their first edit we'd be living in a very different world. Just keep at it
The video may not be profesionally made, but it was fun to watch. A fine effort if you ask me and the place felt like somebody's actual local, rideable by mere mortals too.
Good choice of music too, Phantogram are NY based, right?
Great work! Making an edit is not as easy as everyone thinks. good start and i hope to see more of your videos its no everyday we get to see richie rude ride!
This is a good edit. It shows a great rider in his element, enjoying the trails and his bike. What more can you ask for? Dont be discouraged by the critics. Keep it up.
Recurrent music used by the Dudes of Hazzard! Good choice
As stated above, your edit feels close to reality except Richie's riding that's unnaturally good, we need more of these.
Dude, if the guys on Pinkbike approved your video to be on the front page then you're doing great! First video I tried to get on the front I asked them why and they said it wasn't good enough so I worked my ass off on my following edits! I've had a couple up now...
Not bad for 17 - but if you are going to put something out to the public, and the subject matter is the current EWS Champion, there is going to be some strong opinions about the content. Learn from it, grow from it. You are on the right track.
Don't mind the critics, the internet is a strange place where 1% of the people make 99% of the noise. Even though most of us don't leave a comment, it doesn't mean we didn't enjoy what you brought to the table. I really enjoyed this man. I thought the music, riding and filming were on point. Keep making videos and i'll keep watching them.
It's not Richie that's rude. It's some of the comments on here regarding the edit quality. Props to Richie for supporting and lending his considerable talents and time to a friend and props to you Tom for doing this edit and having the courage to put it out there. Keep on shooting and riding. You're good at what you do. Peace.
17 with minimal experience and just decided to......KILL IT.....You did an awesome job for a self admitted amateur. I think your composition was great. Dont give up or give in. You will only get better with more experience.
Hey-I make video for a living. To heck with the haters. Keep on doing it and thanks for not only the original low budget content, but for some East Coast love. Plenty of room on this amazing board for super high end insane film work and for awesome local content like what you provided. Thanks for doing it. For what it's worth (if my opinion is actually worth anything), the shots and edit were both well composed and thought out.
Man. Richie just made some wheel breaking rocks look smooth as glass. Should have filmed a local trying to ride that stuff, then him, so people could tell just hour beastly those moves were.
what the hell is everyone complaining about?! the video was in no way bad, and Richie shredded the crap out of it. I think it was a really cool video showcasing that you can have fun no matter what trails you're on.
So he started the video riding enduro/trail, then finishes the video riding DH. Is this some kind of metaphor for his 2016 season??? It must be. I know it is.
Please pinkbike, make a decent video player or just embed youtube vidoes. Have always had issues with the player no matter what PC or internet connection I have been on, even 60mb/s connections.
As long as you have a Sb6c you don't need a DH bike anymore, just a fox40 and a coil shox should do it. Just switch the suspensions between AM and DH trails you'll be fine and save big cash. lol
So what I'm taking away from this is I can film a subpar edit, put a big name pro in it, and itll make it to the front page? Good to know Pinkbike, good to know.
No doubt, but with Graves out of the picture his Yeti contract could be up for a bit of a bonus. I know its all wishful thinking but even so I know Richie is itching to race WC DH again and I think Yeti could be very supportive of that. I also think bike geo has to come into play here too, I feel like we are going to see Graves looking like a fish out of water on an Enduro, the Sb6 is quite a bit longer, just speculation but isn't that what this time of the year is all about?
I really hope Yeti adds an SB8 into their lineup. That along with an optional floating brake arm would make the bike absolutely disgustingly good in every aspect of suspension.
I thought this edit would show how ridiculously strong and fast Richie Rude really is, some of the magic that makes him the best. I look forward to an edit that actually does shed some light on this his "rude boy" dominance of the trail bike on any given moment on any and every trail.
That vid was below threshold. Ritchie is a beast rider. But not here. Bushwhack is a great trail. But not in this vid. How does stuff like this get to Pinkbike's homepage? Sheesh.
