The Muckmedden Fair City Enduro mountain bike race, which was recently listed in Red Bull's "Top 11 Must Do Mountain Bike Events in 2017", returns to Perth on Saturday 21 October 2017. Taking place at the Lesser South Inch the Halloween fancy-dress themed Enduro, which is described by organisers as "unconventional", returns to the Fair City for a fifth consecutive year.

The multi-stage Enduro kicks off at 09.30 with a gentle processional ride through the streets of Perth, where more than 350 riders in varying states of fancy dress will head to the hills of Deuchney and Kinnoull to enjoy up to six timed stages on some of Scotland’s finest mountain bike trails. The Fair City Enduro also makes for a spectacular spectator event with a particular action hot spot in Deuchney Bike Park.

Family and friends can also grab a bite to eat whilst cheering (or maybe heckling) the riders in the "Extreme Balance Bike Eliminator" tournament being staged within the event village in front of a throng of baying supporters. The heckling is always very enthusiastic and the racing as exciting to watch as it is amusing.

In addition to the racing, there are plenty of opportunities to test ride the best new mountain bikes from the world’s top bike manufacturers, check out the latest outdoor gear from top brands and pick up top bargains on bike clothing and accessories in the trade village.

After a podium ceremony, to finish the day off in true Fair City style it is now tradition for many of the riders to get cleaned up and hit the town for a night out after a hard day in the saddle.

With a host of sell-out mountain bike events to their name including Cream o’ the Croft and The Eliminator Mountain Bike Festival, Muckmedden Events know how to put the fun back into Mountain Biking and with optional (but encouraged) fancy dress, the Fair City Enduro entry list has been graced by many A-Listers over the years, these include Popeye and Pamela Anderson.

Aaron Gray of Muckmedden Events, said: “Fair City Enduro brings hundreds of mountain bikers into Perth every October and creates such a buzz about the place. During race weekend it seems like every second car has a mountain bike strapped to its roof and as a local, it's great to see how much the event brings to the city.

The Fair City Enduro has contributed hugely to the local economy since the first event in 2013 and thanks to the continued support of Perth and Kinross Council and The Forestry Commission it is now regarded as one of the favourite Mountain Bike Enduros in the UK. It’s great for the flourishing mountain bike scene in this part of Scotland.”

As is now tradition for Muckmedden Events, a women-specific “Muckmaiden Ride Out and Coaching Day” will be held prior to the race on Sunday 08 October at 10.00. This offers a unique opportunity for female riders not only to familiarise themselves with the Enduro trails in the relaxed company of other female riders but also to get some professional skills coaching.

Aaron Gray continued: “Fair City Enduro is our most technical Enduro and attracts many top riders, including EWS racers, but our events are known for being the ideal first step into Enduro Mountain Bike racing because we focus more on having fun than setting super quick race times. You know you can't take things too seriously when you're sitting on the start line next to a giant carrot!”
