Fantasy teams are always fun, but after last year's disruption so much has changed that it is even more challenging and 10x more interesting to choose riders. Gonna be a fun fantasy season!

Picking Loris was a flat out start of the season

Same here man, same here lol.

 flat out Wink

Ahah, I picked Loris (flat), Suarez (stupid crash), Vali (no words for that)
  • 6 1
@Xavier-dh25: I hope you aren't disappointed in Vali. She's a 19-year-old, if a 19 y/o men's dh racer was as dominant as she is they'd be an instant millionaire.

@ryanandrewrogers: if I´d picked a 19-year old AND Brosnan, I´d be an instant owner of a Zeb fork

Fantasy is still great but please, cmon pinkbike some of the pricing of these riders is absolute bs. Instead of being able to look at form and experience it’s now just being able to somehow cram in 1.5 million. The whole pricing of riders needs to change.

If it doesn’t then that’s fine but it would make it more fun for everyone.

If I recall correctly, pricing is based on 2019 results. It's the simplest way for pinkbike to make sure you don't just stack your team. if you have a problem, just go ask @dolores how to do it.
  • 2 1
@ratedgg13: last year it was much easier! Plus last year it was really down to trivia too. Hence why dolores had a good year
  • 4 0
@archiesgm: I'm just not sure what you want pinkbike to do? Create an entirely new scheme for choosing riders based on "form" (which is subjective) and experience (some correlation between overall number of years racing vs wins?). Seems like a pretty brutal task. And Dolores winning multiple times is definitely not related to trivia (that was just a matter of who had the time to do the research) - go back and read their response and strategy tips.

It's the same rules for all players, even though you may think the pricing for some of these folks is not "realistic", after all it's not an exercise of putting all your favourite riders on your team but an optimisation problem to get most points for a max 1.5 million. What prices are attached to which names is pretty irrelevant
I think it makes the game quite interesting that you can't afford more than one or two superstars without running out of cash for the rest of your roster.

The whole point is that its difficult and you need to know the form of the whole field, not just the higher ranked riders. Fantasy football is the same. Im sure fantasy badminton and fantasy snooker are too.

Ive got a spreadsheet showing the costs to points for all riders from 2018 onwards - pretty useful and got me to about top 1000 when normally im way further down the standings at this point. I know I wont win but I enjoy trying

Really glad to have "invested" in Loris for the first race lol. Sucks it's practically another month until the next round. Had multiple DNF picks lmao.
  • 3 0
Better a DNF pick than not realizing you made a DNS pick. I was told (after qualifying started) that Carina Cappellari wasn't racing this season, yet is still on PB's list, causing an unfortunate mishap for me.

It's gonna be a baguette boy summer
  • 3 2
The roosters are locked before qualifying starts, but points gained in qualifying don't add to the final results.

Any reason why?
  • 6 1
Because after quali you'll have a better idea of who's going to do well which kind of ruins it
  • 7 1
it would be cool if riders got quali points for fantasy teams, as well
  • 2 0
@Tmackstab: Yeah. That's exactly why quali points should count.
  • 2 0
@c-radicallis: Oh I misread your post, totally agree
  • 2 0
It might be better not to use all your money on big picks. Maybe better to choose a bunch of midfielders?
  • 2 0
Pinkbike should have asked the riders if they'd be racing this year when they sent that survey out the other month.
  • 1 1
This would be more interesting and challenging if the pricing of riders change after every race based on the performance of each race and the current season.
  • 2 0
Everyone's teams would be a lot similar, and it would be easier to pick riders who are on a streak. With the current system, valuable riders might hide further down the list, requiring research to uncover their performance.
  • 2 0
Is it too late to add Elliot Jamieson?
  • 2 0
Rupert Chapman still in fantasy?? hasn't raced a World Cup in years!
  • 1 0
 1,882,802,945 possible teams (female x 2, male x 4, $1,500,000 budget).
