Pedro Burns on stage 4

After five days tackling the infamous Chilean anti-grip, the 2020 Andes Pacifico has reached its conclusion. In similar fashion to last year, the two Chilean riders Pedro Burns and Florencia Espiñeira once again took the top spots after winning every day of the event.

In the mens racing, Romain Paulhan settled for second position but unlike 2019 he would be nearly two minutes off the pace of Burns. By the final stage, Iago Garay was able to secure a solid third-place finish beating out Devinci's Greg Callaghan to the final podium spot. In the Womens race, Florencia Espiñeira was unstoppable putting over seven minutes into the closest rider. Paz Gallo managed to come closer than 2019's second-place rider Laura Battista but it wouldn't be enough to stop a charging Espiñeira.

 @Matt115lamb: personally I'm a bit tired of Brittish Lads, the roosted cornering and the same juvenile jokes.

But to each his own.

 @KiwiEnduro128: yeah rich wasn’t doing too bad after day one but I guess he had some issue after that!

 @jaame: Is the a parrot in the room ?
  • 1 0
 Going purely off the results sheet, it looks like they both missed days 3 and 4. They can't have both had issues so it must be something else. Henry may well have DNF'd day 2 and 5 because he had to swap parts to keep Rich going

 @mtbgeartech: GMBN's bike sponsorships have prevented them from doing what Top Gear did best, which was to actually compare different products.

If GMBN gave up their frame sponsors, they could have an AMAZING show comparing all types of bikes. Maybe one day...

 @bikekrieg: That's a good point. They do have a diverse staff of journalists. I'm a fan of most of them. I wonder if they're staying away from comparing bikes purposely as to have something a little different than their competition.

My reference to Top Gear is due to the way they play up the "personalities" of each member. Martyn is by far the most genuine but the rest are a bit melodramatic. I imagine a pre-roll with cartoon caricatures. NEAL! The serious racer type... BLAKE! The lovable goofball... DODDY! The brains of the operation... MARTYN! Genuinely good guy that keeps it real.

 @kyytaM: lol meant to say “is There a parrot in the room”, cos @jaame has just repeated what somebody posted in the 2 above posts !
  • 1 2
 @mtbgeartech: I was discussing with my kids today which one is going to be off the show next. My bet is The Don. Blake is killing the ratings. Two new guys are new (Henry is still really awkward in front of the camera) and Martyn has the job for as long as he wants I hope. The Don has shown what he’s made of for years, and nothing lasts forever.
I was glad to see the back of Scotty. Nothing against him, but nothing special either.
Slugger, he was funny as shit with his deadpan presenting style.

 @Matt115lamb: I belive he was making the point that "their" should have been used, not "they're". The latter is a contraction of "they are", hence his comments using the full length version.

 @gmt: my life’s complete , I’ve been grammered by @jaame hehee
