Jesse Melamed speed tucking on Stage 2

The EWS is back as riders take on four stages after racing the Pro Stage. For the Masters, it was a repeat win for Leonie Picton and Karim Amour as they secured big wins in their categories. In the U21 racing, Lisa Baumann and Francescu Camoin just pulled ahead to win in Crans-Montana.

Melanie Pugin came out victorious again in the Elite Women's as she pulled ahead by nearly ten seconds over Morgane Charre. Noga Korem rounded out the top three 30 seconds back.

Richie Rude continued his dominance this year as he secured another win this week and will now lead in the 2021 overall standings. Jack Moir was carrying an injury from yesterday's racing, but he fought hard to end the day in 10th place. Second place today went to Jesse Melamed, who has been looking fast all weekend.

Lukasik as a privateer in 4th. That is absolutely awesome!
  • 8 0
and he finished one stage with a snapped chain stuck in his wheel! the guy's on fire this year, was there a faster privateer in the last few years of EWS?
  • 8 0
10th płace was absolute achievement but 4th? C’mon! „Who the f**k is this polish dude” - every racing team manager now.
  • 2 1
His instagram says he's Factory NS Bikes??
  • 9 0
@Trudeez: he's not. Sleeping in his T5 and no mechanic or any support. I think he used to ride DH for NS team some time ago

 Sławek Łukasik is GREATSmile

Hell yes! Someone sponsor this kid, what a ride! @pinkbike why is he not on fantasy?
  • 12 0
@MikeyMT: We pick the riders for Fantasy League based on performance from previous years and always try to include the top 100 men / top 50 women from the past season. Slawomir Lukasik is smashing it this year so I will get him added to the rider list after the points are added for this round.
  • 3 0
@edspratt: why? weird choice to not update the list at least once during the season
  • 3 0
@edspratt: on second though it might jinx him. I take it back, DO NOT add him.
  • 3 0
@MikeyMT: on his insta he says he's Factory NS Bikes. Although it very much looks like he sleeps and wrenches for himself out the back of his van.
  • 2 0
@Trudeez: he has some support from them and Leatt I believe. But he’s not on a factory ride which I think is how people are defining privateer these days. Basically he gets some pro form here and there. I think it’s a language thing. There is an old WYN TV where he explained it and got the privateer award.

I guess Moir had a crash yesterday and is riding injured or in pain? Bummer - hope he can keep it tight and take this down to the wire.

Pitty I have to get this info from the coments... But thanks.

@PauRexs: agreed, very poor show from PB, simply copying EWS live feed.
  • 12 1
@mccarthyp: Cheers for the feedback! Covering the EWS is tricky because it pretty much involves staring at a timing feed for most of a day. I'm always looking to improve the live updates for the EWS and World Cups so let me know of any ways you think we can do this better.

 @edspratt: imbed with auto scroll.
  • 2 1
@edspratt: Jack having such an issue that can decide the overall title.. deserves a single new alone with updates...
  • 1 0
@PauRexs: I bet a bunch of guys are riding with injuries, like whats up with Sam?
  • 1 1
@PauRexs: Jack's crash and injury was mentioned in Gmbn Pro stage coverage were they show the top 3 runs. There could be some issue with PB and GMBN, but EWS coverage is lacking this season. Also if you follow the Instagram of most pro might help with info on the race.
  • 1 1
@Zuman: yeah thanks I do sometimes, but key stuff should be covered into regular media. It's not fair for fans to must have that social media and for media to expect it gets covered there...
  • 1 1
@PauRexs: I think we have our answer. You want better EWS coverage, get it at GMBN. Anyway following riders for updates is crap - they often won’t post until long after an event is over.

 Evan Wall 46th!!! He’s a real one - let’s go PB Academy!

Yea how rude of richie to not to share his

These comments are hilarious. No idea why they’re getting down voted. Poor dentists must be triggered hard.
  • 12 8
@Afterschoolsports: I only can call it like I see it. Maybe people dont want to read truth in their new fangled fantasy outside land. I mean they stripped every single win from L. Armstrong. They only caught him once. He beat the french at their own game for years.

 @weebleswobbles:

How do you see it? are you testing these athletes and privy to the results? I figure this isn’t like the tour where there’s so much money behind it and team doctors and such. The roadies have the resources to try to cheat the system. There’s no damn money in Enduro but I guess the ego transcends any sport. I’m not a fanboi tho just a realist. I believe RR knew what he was doing (nothing to back that up) but also believe he wouldn’t risk his whole career on a second offense.
  • 13 8
@WasatchEnduro: Rude has failed a doping test and tried to blame any one and everyone else but himself. Its a shame his sponsors were happy to support a proven drug cheat
  • 7 10
@CM999: I'm not condoning richie rude, or lance armstrong or Martin Mae's or Jared graves just to name cycling. I think once a cheater always a cheater. I dont condone the use of Peds.

 @weebleswobbles:

same. I get older and slower and it is what it is… when I get too damn slow rather than going full Icarus I’ll just get an ebike. That’s a ways off still tho.

Man, Rude wins elite and KA wins masters. (Ex-)dopers at the top. Not a great sight for the sport.

@weebleswobbles: I think it’s unfair to lump Mae’s into that category.

@WasatchEnduro: I'm on the injured list now and just cant bring myself to go for an e-mtb. My inner a*shole tells me to toughen up and ride!

Page said Sam had had a big year off and was entitled to the rest.

@jwdenver: Greg Minnaar would like to have a word with you

@jwdenver: I believe he mentioned in an interview early in the season that his fitness regiment was not near what it was before 2020 and then the short season last year not competing. Staying at the top level is near impossible even for Hill if you don’t keep the training going. It has less to do with his age as his stamina. He gets back on the program he was on, he’ll be back up there. Now it just depends if that’s what he wants to do.

C'mon sign Sławek to some real factory team already. He deserves to be privateer of the year and land some good contract!

Damn outside pinkbike magazine's coverage is kinda lacking.
  • 3 2
I was thinking the same. This race had little to no coverage
  • 11 2
Nothing to do with Outside. The EWS has a few more guidelines in place about what we can do at races now, and for this one we unfortunately had to choose between EWS and Snowshoe for a videographer.

@brianpark: thankyou! So that means footage from West Virginia coming soon? Man I love that place where the country roads take me home

It seems they're embedded with GCN now.
  • 2 0
@brianpark: so you’re saying we could have better coverage but the EWS won’t let you have it?
  • 1 0
@thenotoriousmic: errr sort of? we still have a great relationship with those folks and I want to see the EWS succeed, but as a business they've got more guidelines now. To be fair, they're very generous guidelines and in normal times we could operate within them and still do good coverage, it's just a really challenging time to be trying to do all the things for all the people. We had to make a call, and with Ben at Snowshoe it made sense to have more people go there.
