12:00 PST
Bruni has just said he doesn't think he's put down a winning time but I think it's going to take one hell of a run to beat it. Only 8 riders have the chance to take it from him now.
12:00 PST
Bruni goes fastest by 0.5, the race is back on!
11:58 PST
The race has cooled off a little with only David Trummer getting closer to Vergier's time but even he's more than 2.5 seconds back. Next up is Loic Bruni.
11:37 PST
Incredible drama with still around 20 riders to go. Here's how it looks after all that madness:
1. Loris Vergier - 3:10.646
2. Remi Thirion +3.071
3. Angel Suarez +3.201
4. Joe Breeden +4.746
5. George Brannigan +4.946
11:36 PST
Huge from Vergier! 3 seconds quicker than Thirion!
11:31 PST
Daprela crashes! Thibaut was green but goes down after a front wheel issue. The title battle will go down to the wire on Saturday now. How can Vergier respond to this?
11:28 PST
Just before they do battle, Remi Thirion sneaks into the hotseat and breaks into the 3:13s for the first time of anyone all week - 1.675 in the lead.
11:22 PST
Get ready for the start of the title battle in a few minutes. Daprela and Vergier will race back to back and are currently 1 and 2 in the series.
11:19 PST
Kade Edwards has a disappointing run with an early crash but a double pump suicide on the final sender almost makes up for it
11:11 PST

10:19 PST
Vali Holl wins, Myriam Nicole ends up slotting fourth. Saturday's race is going to be a nail biter!
10:17 PST
Myriam Nicole crashes!
10:13 PST
That may not be the run Balanche was hoping for. She was losing time to Holl all the way through the run and goes provisionally second with only the fastest qualifier Nicole to go.
10:11 PST
It's time for the title battle now, Balanche vs Nicole.
10:10 PST
Holl goes fastest! with just two riders to go, Vali takes the hotseat from Cabirou by 5.7 seconds. Her fourth sector was especially impressive and she put 3 seconds into Cabirou in 40 seconds of racing.
10:06 PST
It's a rough day at the office for Nina Hoffmann who takes a spill DNFs then Mille Johnset is a bit back on the pace so all eyes turn to the top of the mountain and Vali Holl.
10:00 PST
Marine Cabirou is the next rider and although she is behind at split 1 and 2, she comes back strong in the bottom half of the track to knock another 4 seconds off the fastest time but it's still 6 seconds off Nicole's fastest time from qualifying yesterday.

Btw, PB comment section knows that carbon rims are for dentists but somehow WC teams do not take our comments seriously, but clearly this is gonna change now

Not a good look for ENVE. He might have still hung up there and lost a bunch of time, but I feel like he likely would have made it down the course with a different wheel.
I think that you probably diagnosed the feature that took the tire came off the rim though.
I've seen this happen numerous times. For instance when Gwin popped off the side of the bridge at Fort William a foot before the end and exploded his tire off the rim then cartwheeled off track. 2019? This does happen a lot, but it has gotten better in recent years, I used to blow non DH tires off rims all the time, but tolerances have gotten much better especially in the tubeless era.
44.xx mins Thibaut's run
Tracey has had some hickups. She seems to often have good insight and wants to contribute, but then gets tripped up over herself or seems to lack confidence in what she's saying. Like, damn girl - have some confidence! You're f*cking badass and you know what you're talking about.
I do start to wonder if commentary just isn't the right fit for her.
I think Eliot has been hitting his stride lately. I'm certainly hoping Tracey keeps improving, as well. I just haven't seen it happen as quickly as for Eliot.
There might be something to say about the strange noises, about 10 seconds before the crash, were perhaps the wheel failing enough to cause an air leak, and that led to the later slide across the bridge, which put the front wheel sideways into a high g situation on the other side, that stripped the tire off the rim. That is all just guessing though on any of our parts, since we were not there.
I must be clear, I'm not a carbon rim defender, I much prefer alloy rims myself, for cost and ride feel reasons. I just think that it is really hard to say exactly what happened from the info I have seen so far. The only thing that is clear is that when the rim exploded, there was not a tire on the wheel. So in that particular moment, it was not the fault of the rim, it can be argued that the rim may have had a role in why there was no tire on the wheel in that moment, but we do not have all the evidence.
yeah, it exploded. you can say what happened, it nearly shattered into dust...
But now I feel that if I had been given that wheel before his race run I could have ridden it for 2 years and wouldnt have done anything to make it die because I am not a WC racer.
Brahahaha! White paint being prepped for some EX 471s.
I think the most interesting thing around her is how she's dealing with pressure. She became a European Champion, then a World Champion and is now leading the WC - and seems to be able to constantly pull out clean runs on qualifying and race day.
Fingers crossed she keeps this up.
Well done to Reece
Gutted for Loic, same thing happened to him in Maribor #2 last year
I guess the tyre casing has its importance as well... I was told my pressures were too low in Lourdes few weeks ago with my 1.5barsF/1.8barsR.... with light casing though (EXO).
Saturday’s final round is going to be wild.
If she wants it she's got years of top level racing ahead of her when she eventually comes back, as Minaar has shown us. Even with fitness or skills somewhat diminished Rachel could mix it up at the pointy end.
'her time will come. It's not quite yet' Nah, you're not a DH racing oracle mate, Her time has come she just won a world cup.
f*ck their rim strip
No offense (peace)
Wired: stickered dt rims
Jokes aside, so stoked for Reece! Well deserved win!
They really need to start for sure! These kids are the future of the sport, they deserve it!
we try to make it a 4 day weekend when we go out and ride there
I can't blame them for NOT wanting to deal with UCI, however
One can dream can't they?
