Although Monika Hrastnik had some troubles through the rock garden and a crash at the bottom of the track she still sits in third after her race run.

5:12 am PDT:

Reece Wilson will not be starting today after a bad crash in practice.

5:17 am PDT:

Martin Maes is nearly one and a half seconds up after the second split. Will Maes take another World Cup win today?

5:19 am PDT:

Maes goes into the lead by just under a second! We are now only eight seconds off from yesterday's fastest qualifying time.

5:25 am PDT:

Benoit Coulanges has a wild run that after a mistake slots him into third place, 1.556 back.

5:33 am PDT:

Brook MacDonald was on a great run but a small crash in the lower part of the course puts him back in 21st place.

5:39 am PDT:

5:45 am PDT:

Greg Minnaar goes fastest! With a gap of just 0.513 seconds Minnaar takes the top spot from teammate Luca Shaw.

5:52 am PDT:

Disaster for Danny Hart as he slides out on the top part of the track.

5:58 am PDT:

It's a crash at the top of the course for Loic Bruni as well. He gains some time back at the second split but with seven seconds to pull back he won't be fighting for the win today.

Oisin O'Callaghan is smashing it. 1st year Junior that just won rainbow stripes and carrying form. A name to remember for sure
  • 13 2
the dude has announced himself to the world alright!
  • 5 0
Wonder what happened to him before split 4, lost a good few seconds there by the looks of things, then got back on it.
  • 5 0
@dingus: crashed apparently. Pic of him with a ripped jersey on insta...
  • 9 1
The name's somewhat hard to pronounce for a kraut, but I'll do my very best.
  • 29 0
@MindPatterns: for anyone wondering how to pronounce it, Oisín is pronounced like "uh-sheen"
  • 4 0
Just stay on your bike Oison!!
  • 5 0
@MindPatterns: I think we're going to be hearing that name for a long time so you'll have plenty of opportunity to practice
  • 10 0
@sjma: Doesn't matter for Warner. He pronounces names as they're read. Even after years.
  • 3 0
@colincolin: to be honest, I think the way he has learned names of people and places is commendable this year. He is at least trying to pronounce foreign names correctly.
  • 2 0
Huge PROPS, so stoked to see how this guy progresses. Will definitely give the Irish DH scene a lift and focus.
  • 3 1
@bermdweller: it's amazing that we have two junior riders doing well at a time when Irish downhill is at an all time low. It's basically all enduro riding here now and the downhill tracks are very watered down with only small gaps, if any.
  • 52 2
 Rob-
She’ll have a team of lawyers waiting for her at the bottom after a case like that
Hahahahh
  • 5 0
 Brilliant one liners!
  • 4 0
That's the Warner we know and love!
  • 5 0
I feel freecaster Rob is slowly coming back and redbull is scared :lol like last week the comment about the whale with a bladder infection :lol f*ck yeah Rob!
  • 3 0
 @MickandRorty:

I wish they would unleash Lord Warner again and film some more Dirty Business.
  • 1 0
 Go Rob!
  • 50 1
Poor Greg was probably starting to imagine a race where he wouldn't get pipped by a frenchie for the win
  • 4 7
I mean fair play to the frenchies but im feeling bad for Greg. How many years has he got left do you really think. Bronze would still be good though.
  • 8 1
Yea but it’s his teammate so I’m sure he’s cool with it
  • 28 0
@danielstutt: at the rate he's going he probably has another ten years haha!
  • 35 0
Syndicate can't really complain with Loris on the top step, Greg in 5th and Luca in 6th.
  • 3 0
 @russthedog: I hope so! Legend
  • 46 0
Hard to feel bad for Greg when he has the most male WC dh wins and 3 World Champs under his belt. That also doesn't mention the 8 other world champs podiums and countless WC podiums. I would love to see him on top too but just because he hasn't had a win in recent years doesn't take anything away from his career as the top male WC downhill racer ever. Id say 5th is stellar for a guy who is almost 40 racing guys half his age, Greg is the GOAT!
  • 14 0
@VPS13: Guess I'm not far off in saying that Greg probably had his first World Cup podium before Daprela was even born!
  • 4 0
Always happens - people count Greg out, then he wins.
  • 44 0
I remember a few years ago when Gwin was winning nearly every race and getting close to Greg’s numbers. Many assumed that it was only a matter of time before Gwin gets the GOAT title. Now we all realize that these last steps to the top might be the most difficult to climb. I think this clearly shows how difficult it is to stay at the top for an extended period of time in any sport and how exceptional Greg is.
  • 4 0
@russthedog: I start to suspect Greg is some sort of immortal vampire or other supernatural being, he doesn't seem to age and is unnaturally fit.
  • 2 0
@t1000: I remember thinking the GOAT designation was a bit premature with Gwin dominating so much right in his prime... now that is looking like the right call. Wonder what is up with Gwin? He really lost his edge.
  • 1 0
@iantmcg: too many injuries right when the others racers turned it up a notch. He'll catch up after some racing.
  • 11 0
@iantmcg: Gwin seems more without passion than usual recently... maybe Greg's advantage is that his heart is all in this sport.
  • 1 0
@iantmcg: Didn’t he get married recently? Might he be whipped?
  • 1 0
@thustlewhumber: Figured I would revisit this after the races in Lousa Smile
  • 40 0
Really happy Loris held it together! Quite a few times he had crashed out of runs where he surely had podium or winning pace. Well done!
  • 38 0
I really wanted Minnaar to win, but I'm not disappointed Loris won.
  • 31 1
So awesome to see Remi Thirion finding his way on the sharp end of the results!
  • 1 0
Agreed! Have always been a big fan of Rémi and the way he lets his riding do the talking.
  • 28 3
Seeing how good Jack is doing off Intense on a Canyon and Gwin barely bringing in top 20s the last 2 seasons he needs a new bike to compete at the top again the just can’t get it to click and a new design every few races just proves that
  • 2 0
Did gwin have a clean run? I missed it.
  • 5 1
@BiNARYBiKE: yes just cruised his way down
  • 25 0
@tullie: Correction, he was racing and Gwin doesn't turn up to a race to 'cruise down'. He's either just not fast enough - anymore / on that bike / in the wet (delete as appropriate).
  • 16 1
@DirtyDee: it's fairly amazing, he literally went from #1 to never placing decently and becoming completely irrelevant.
  • 8 0
@DirtyDee: he prove he can win in the wet 2 years ago. You are right he didn’t show up to cruise down the course, it just looks that way these days.
  • 9 0
It’s weird though...you have to think the bike is closely aligned with the V-10.....people are doing pretty well on those.
  • 15 0
gotta admit: Intense Factory Racing these days is not a good promotion for the brand at all.
  • 6 0
@stefkrger: I think Neko is actually a really cool and unique promoter. But ya, overall struggling a bit.
  • 17 1
I stated the same thing last week and got shouted down mostly. Jack went from nothing to being up at the fighting end and the Intense racers are consistently down towards the bottom. I really do think that the bike is no good. Dak and Neko ride and train together all the time and Dak is usually up towards the front whereas the Intense riders are not. At this point I would think that Neko is doing more for the brand than Gwin is. Neko is out promoting grassroots DH and building/ running a series and Gwin is, well, I am not sure.
  • 9 0
There is more to a team than the bike. Maybe Intense doesn't have a good culture or support structure right now.
  • 9 0
Yeah, but with Gwin being team owner and being so heavily invested in the company it's difficult to see him ever leaving. He should just slap an Intense sticker on a Commencal! Haha!
  • 3 0
@Ttimer: I do not doubt that. Their riders are spread across the continent. Also, the weather is a huge factor I would think. California, where Gwin lives full time, does not look anything like the last two races have. There are no deep slop pits and massive momentum grabbing ruts.
  • 1 0
@freeinpg: it’s also very close to Isabeau’s enduro bike which won handily last year
  • 3 3
@jmhills: I couldn’t agree more. Having spent a ton of time riding in SoCal and living and riding in BC, I can safely say that training laps in and around Gwin’s local would be massively different from the majority of the WC tracks. Aaron move up here to the sea to sky and get your mojo back!! We’d welcome you!
  • 9 0
I feel like every time a winning rider changes bikes and still wins everybody says "See it's the rider not the bike" but when a winning rider changes bikes and doesn't win everybody says "The bike is the issue". Perhaps both can be true at the same time. Maybe the bike hasn't been up to par but it seems like Gwin has also had his fair share of injuries/mistakes too.
  • 2 2
After doing so well on the Specialized and the YT Tues, I wonder if Gwin is having a hard time gelling with the VPP bike. Almost makes me wonder if an "updated" M-1 would work better for him.
  • 1 0
@IanJF: I think that might be a huge part of it. If Moir is a benchmark, and he has said he never got on with the bike, the type of riding required to get the thing to work right for him might be difficult. It is not the version 2 billion of the Horst link. I wonder if they ever have a day where they ride a competitors offering to benchmark.
  • 10 2
 It's 90% mental.
Gwinner has smashed wet races in the past. I doubt he could win in the wet or dry these days. I doubt he would win on his home trails if there was a WC round there this year.
There is nothing wrong with that bike. It's just that Gwinner is missing the last couple of % to make it on to the podium. The question is, will he ever get it back?
  • 1 0
Gwin will be the James Stewart of downhill.
  • 2 0
it is interesting. I was telling people to wait for some race results for Gwin as World Champs was a wildcard with conditions, and Gwin did get a 5th/6th last season after injury... but this is a pretty bad look for him, doesn't seem to have the same passion/focus/intensity (pardon the pun). I doubt it's the bike or physical condition, must be mental, maybe not as much time training and too much time on business/management stuff. Honestly don't blame him if that's the case, set yourself up for success for the rest of your life... remember this dude isn't even 40 yet.
  • 2 0
@kelpaso: what an insult to Commencal! lol Intense Bikes don't even come close! hahaha!
  • 2 0
@jmhills: Jack did great on Intense over the past two years.
  • 1 1
@gramboh: he's not even 30 is he? How old is the Gwinner anyway?
  • 27 2
Oisin had a big crash at the end of his run and still WON! Watch out world, the Irish are coming.
  • 26 0
 WHAT THE CABIROU !!!!!
  • 6 0
 YESSSSSSS MARINE !!!!!!!!
  • 5 0
 @Cocorico: ITS CABIROU SEASON!!!
  • 22 0
 slacky boi.great result
  • 4 0
Congrats! Looked tight in the end. Oisin down at the last split after being ahead throughout.
  • 6 0
@thingswelike: they both had big mistakes, dan at the top and oisin near the bottom, slippery AF
  • 2 0
@chrisslack: As slack as the Grim Donut damn!!
  • 2 0
Surely he'll get Factory Ride next year !
  • 3 0
Gotta admit, scrolling through the results and seeing Slack Dan made me giggle a little :o)
  • 1 0
 yeah well done dan
  • 19 0
Being an Intense Cycles fan, I was hoping for better. Since Jack left the team is just dull. Well done Jack Moir on the top 10!
  • 6 1
Their bike looks like it’s slow and has been that way for a while
  • 4 4
Lol the bike isnt slow...its just gwin is just doing it for the money or is too busy playing his guitar. Intense is too ego-driven
  • 7 0
@housem8d: I mean you never know, but Gwin went from the podium to an also ran when he went from YT to Intense, while Moir was an also ran on the current gen Intense bike and is now bagging Top 10s in multiple disciplines with Canyon. Not exactly a good look for them.
  • 2 0
@MarcusBrody: Moir killed it on the ally prototype bike with his mates on the team, then went off the boil when they switched it to carbon and he got less fun teammates.
It's a mental game as much as anything.
  • 18 2
Seriously we need coverage of the juniors races as well. Up to last year there was no coverage of Vali Höll even though she was one of the key persons in womens dh already as a junior. Now we have a super strong and exciting junior mens field that we can only follow by live timing.
  • 22 3
Another top ten finish for Jack Moir. Come on Canyon, put him on the DH program for next year.
  • 10 2
Why? He seems to do equally well in Enduro.
  • 14 0
i dont understand people like you who project themselves on others. Jack said that he’s doing things his way to keep the passion, I assume he’s carrying the momentum from the fun he had in enduro. Sounds so cringe and basic when you say this. It’s sounds like you’re a shareholder in a company trying to convince the executives to change a product theyre selling. Daf*ck?!
  • 2 1
@housem8d: I agree. I think he's a bike rider. He seems to do better when he has the stoke. Canyon has allowed him to find the stoke. That's the key. He's a top bloke. He's not going to win the overall in either series I don't think. A brand will arguably get more out of him by letting him race what he wants - he gets a lot of publicity by being an awesome dude and by getting on the podium in both.
He does have the quality to win the EWS overall, I just don't see him doing it because of the single series focus a lot of other guys have by the way. I'm not bagging him by saying I don't think he will win either overall.
  • 16 0
Awesome having the Red Bull feed on the front page, thanks PB!
  • 12 0
 Oisin, he won again!

Dan ain’t far behind though,
should be an interesting competition!

Props to both! Is there footage of their runs anywhere?
  • 2 0
We might see a little at the start of the live coverage. Then maybe wait until the highlights vid is released
  • 14 0
Mille's crash looked horrendous, hopefully she is ok.
  • 10 0
I saw her ragdolling over rocks and thought she would not stand up.. tough as nails.. and riding with the tape swirling around . bravo
  • 3 0
Saw a destroyed shoulder/arm on live... then up on bike and finish a proper run!!! Inversible !
  • 3 0
 ... Incredible... I would say.
  • 15 0
 French domination again.
  • 26 0
Reverse the brakes, it will be better Wink
  • 2 0
@FJIZZ: Wrong for Joris, he has the front brake on the right, like the Brits!
  • 6 0
 @Inukshuk: Who's Joris anyway...Smile
  • 2 0
 @Cocorico: Hoooops, LLLLoris, of course!

 Remi thirion is incredible!
  • 5 0
@russthedog: After is injury in leogang that's just cool for him, just like brook coming into race again!
  • 8 0
I love these late in the year races. I do not know about you but watching them blitz down dry tracks is kind of boring. These variable weather runs, while frustrating for the riders, really opens up the importance of tire choice, compound, etc... Such good watching.
  • 10 1
That's the podium I wished for Leogang! Really looking forward Daprela, just came back from injury in his first year in elite!
  • 10 0
Wilson is out due to practice crash. Sad to miss.
  • 2 0
F*****************C was hoping for a good result this weekend :/
  • 8 0
It's funny that I take a few years off from watching WC and Minnaar is still at the top of the pack.
  • 8 0
The real question is how many times did Warner say "This man" or "This woman"?
  • 10 0
 Vergier!!!!
  • 10 1
Great run from Luka Shaw! Glad to see him in the top 10.
  • 8 0
 Marine killed it! Awesome run
  • 8 0
Wow Marine, that was an amazing run! Good job!
  • 7 0
I was hoping all the time that Greg would be at least on podium, but damn those Frenchies are fast! Smile
  • 8 0
 Loris au sommet!! Yah boy!!
  • 8 1
Boy...INtense BIkes must really suck or Gwin simply can't ride in the rain.
  • 3 0
MSA 2017? One of the best wet race runs ever... he's certainly off form now though.
  • 7 0
Golden debut Oisin. Keep at it

Keep the pace Angel! Glad to see him up there in the rankings.
  • 3 0
Im actually surprised to see Gee racing. I thought he was working for Redbull now. It would be nice to see him back on good form but he’s been struggling consistently for awhile now. Still rooting for you!
  • 3 0
 Few things:
Unfollowing Redbull Bike on Facebook for ruining the results (I thought DH was always on sunday??)
Huge congrats to Loris-- it's been a long time coming

Massive congrats Oisin and Chris, excellent result \m/
  • 5 0
Setting up for a Syndicate sweep!?
  • 2 0
Interesting comment from Rob on team rumors, particularly Vergier to Trek??? Haven’t heard anything like that, surprised he’s not joining Loic at Spec if he leaves the Syndicate, but idk why you’d leave the Syndicate!
  • 1 0
Yeah, I was wondering if anyone else caught that. The way Rob worded it I couldn't tell if he was saying the rumor was that Loris was moving to Trek or staying on Santa Cruz.
  • 1 0
 I'm gonna be that guy.

At the end of the Redbull broadcast they incongruously shoehorned in an "increasing diversity in MTB" section.

The colour of your skin does not determine whether you can ride a bike or win a race.

The lack of diversity in cycling is not because people are guarding the entrance to bike races adorned in a white hoods and brandishing nooses.

Go buy a bike, get really good at riding it and then look for sponsorship. With the way companies are trying to exploit the diversity angle for marketing you should have them tripping over themselves to hire you. *cough cough, Commencal purports to support diversity but why are all your riders white!? P.S. f*ck off.*

MTB IS NOT RACIST! Take your contrived, entitled, woke bullshit and stick it so far up your arse that you feel you've never rode any other saddle than a Burgtec The Cloud.

So many riders using tear-offs, really bothers me
  • 7 0
They pick them up at the end
  • 1 0
Same. Are some riders using spring loaded cartridges with a load and take up spool? Is that what I am seeing?
  • 2 0
@jmhills: It is indeed. I think with those the strip doesn't cover all of the lens, so it just clears a strip rather than the whole lens. Maybe that's why some riders prefer year offs. Might be wrong through.
  • 1 0
@Davec85: Clever. I would imagine it is more a fitment thing as well. The spools seem to dictate a certain shape for the googles themselves so perhaps tear offs are the requirement for some

Anyone know where the Gold and Silver Women's Junior World Champ winners have gone?
Too expensive to travel? Injured?
  • 8 0
Yes, if I remember correctly Lauryne Chappaz said on Wyn TV that she would go only to Portugal and not to Maribor as it is too expensive...
  • 4 0
Golf winner mentioned on WynTV it was too expensive due to Covid Tests.
