The full results are in from Mont-Saint-Anne and wow what a race! In the Elite Men's the final riders put everything into their runs and it seemed like each run would be impossible to beat. It was Loic Bruni who would emerge the victor and take another World Champs title. The silver medal would go to Troy Brosnan who was in touching distance of gold but would have to settle for 2nd position, only 0.581 back. Amaury Pierron could not match the top two riders' pace being over two seconds back but he still laid down a run deserving of the bronze medal.

In the Elite Women's it would be the riders fresh from injury that would dominate the day with Myriam Nicole taking the rainbow jersey closely followed by Tahnee Seagrave. Hot on their heels and coming off two World Cup wins, Marine Cabirou takes the bronze medal in Mont-Sainte-Anne. For the Juniors, Vali Höll took her final World Champion title as a Junior and the Australian Kye A'Hern secured an impressive gold medal result.

Fair play to Loic, deserving winner. But absolutely gutted for Troy.

I’d upvote you more if I could! What a run by Troy!! Can’t take anything away from Bruni though, he’s so dialled this year!!
  • 16 0
Super consistent, but just cannot win this year. Happy for Bruni though! But more for Pompon!!!
  • 37 0
man i was so stoked to see troy nearly 2 seconds up! but bruni gonna bruni. love them both. excellent runs! loic looked like he was floating
  • 33 0
Listen/watch the Outspoken with Loic and Troy. It will amplify these feelings. Loic is such a solid dude but Troy’s attitude and positivity is just unreal.
  • 83 0
@Hogfly: Troys reaction to Bruni taking the lead Vs Pierrons reaction to Troy taking the lead from him.
  • 6 1
Gutted for Danny. Troy was on fire though.
  • 22 9
@Dav82: I feel like Troy was just born at the wrong time. To be competing with the likes of Bruni, Pierron, Gwin...that’s really tough. Troy is an awesome rider and doesn’t get the full recognition he deserves.
  • 71 0
@Hogfly: troy let us cut in front of him on the gondola at whistler. dude said "i already got too many laps in have some fun". love that man. mr consistency!
  • 18 0
Absolutely thought Troy had that after he finished his run. Really thought this was gonna be the time he held onto it. Gutted for him, but damn Bruni is impressive this year.
  • 16 2
@fatduke: I think Pieron was just mad about himself, knowing he had a very bad upper part. Realizing if he hadn't...
  • 10 0
@fatduke: yeah, Pierron was not a happy chap at all.
  • 2 0
@Hogfly: yeah they are really good competitors and really similar too.
  • 9 0
 Yep, what you said.

So gutted for Troy. Almost something inevitable about it - thought "ah he's put down the run of his life, no way is it going to be beaten...o yeah there's Bruni."

He's in a proper imperial stage right now. Incredible.

@anchoricex: ah what a sweet dude. Love hearing stuff like that.

@kegron: of course he was pissed off. You don't get to the top by being happy when you lose a race you could have won. Those guys who look happy when they lose are just good actors.
  • 2 0
@jaame: very true. And the Frenchies are an emotional bunch. Loic and Greg have some hilarious banter about that on one of those pods.
  • 12 0
For those who weren't able to watch Bruni's run, here you have https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2UI67-DqoY

Yep, Troy comes across such a good sportsman and really supportive of the other riders, I hope he gets that win soon. A well deserved win for Loic though. Awesome day of racing and I hope next time around the mainstream TV networks either give downhill their full support or leave it to those who have the expertise. In the UK, the BBC's support of downhill was shameful, up until the day of racing I didn't know whether they were going to show it or not and their world champs homepage even had a picture of Rachel yet only listings for the xc races.
  • 3 0
@kegron: I actually asked Pierron if he was going to break the French/French Canada curse. He said What? I said no frenchie has won in Quebec. I think that weighed heavily on his mind.

Next year!!!!
  • 3 0
Hugo Langevin!!! What a great result compared to qually!
  • 3 0
@chickenlassi: but loic won last year....
  • 2 0
@cky78: ya correcto. But I had him going
  • 1 0
@cky78: actually I was referring to world champs held in French Canada won by a frenchie. But still not true because Voulous I think.
  • 11 0
I feel so sorry for Troy, he just can't catch a break. He keeps putting down these incredible runs and then at the end a frenchie does some black magic ritual and beats him
  • 3 0
@fatduke: he still clapped, he still congratulated him, just disapointed, he never looks like that, chill out Wink
it was just a crazy race with crazy moments

 Super gutted for Troy
  • 3 1
Yep. Feel for Troy. When Bruni came through at 71 kph, I knew that magnificent bastard was going to do it again. Really wish he could have just stalled for a second on a boulder like Finn.
  • 1 0
@BigAlfonz: Bruni has about 20kg on Troy I think. It must help when you're going down.
  • 1 0
@Hogfly: that interview kinda explains results like this though... Troy basically said "I'm gonna keep it at 95% and hope it's enough to win" and Loic was saying "don't you think you need to commit a little more to beat guys like us Frenchies, who are riding closer to the edge?"

Great interview, really enjoyed that one.
  • 1 0
@bkm303: do you have a link for it?
  • 1 0
 @bkm303: Cheers dude
  • 2 1
@GZMS: Um, yeah, I don’t see too many of us “muricans” crying about Gwynn’s 12th place. Apparently you have some hang up over it that you need to get over.
  • 1 0
@GZMS: tbf I think he’s had his day for sure, he deffo upped the pace when he came onto the scene but now these younger riders have done it again, some ie minaar can keep up/still be a threat, some it’s too much and they have big crashes and get injured..I guess I’m saying Gwin is the new Gee
  • 70 5
uups - she did it again… so young and already a LEGEND!
What a party at the ladies, next year:
Myriam Nicole
Rachel Atherton
Thanee Seagrave
Vali Höll
Marine Cabirou
Nina Hofmann
Tracey Hannah
...all good for a win
  • 4 2
Usually her time is also up there with the elite, not today (no shame there of course!).

Is it because it's such a long and strenuous course that the older women outpower her?
  • 4 0
@Ronkol: i think it's lack of experience with a track this difficult. it will take a few years of riding some of the rougher courses.
  • 12 0
@Ronkol: She was probably more concerned with getting down safely and grabbing the rainbows again rather than risk crashing out by pushing too hard just to compare herself to the elite women.
  • 2 0
@Jamminator: pretty sure she had this in mind - everything else would have been foolish and that's what she is deffinitely NOT
  • 1 0
Junior women’s race was close @aerob:
  • 1 0
Second fastest through speedtrap though =D
  • 44 0
So stoked for Pompon, she fully deserves this after all the bad luck and injury she's been through. Not to mention the dubious timing at Cairns a few years ago.
  • 3 0
Something definitly went wrong at Cairns.
  • 1 0
 maybe her karma hit back?!
  • 4 0
Yep, and Tahnee as well. I bet she was well pleased with silver on her comeback ride too, and well in touch. Next year is going to be killer in ladies elite.
  • 38 3
Congrats Bruni! Wish Troy won it tho!
  • 35 1
 CRUSHED FOR TROY......Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
  • 26 3
Holy crap Myriam and Tahnee! So sick!!! Shame that everyone's attention is going to be split and is going to be complaining about the coverage issue instead...
  • 10 1
Tahnee's response when Hannah is finishing. That's sportsmanship!
  • 6 0
@sspiff: agreed, the sportsmanship in downhill makes me proud of MTB, it means so much to these athletes to win but when they miss out by such narrow margins they are the first to congratulate the person who comes in first. A lot of other sports should follow their example.
  • 24 0
What a beautiful comeback from Myriam and Tahnee! Bravo Pompon!!!
  • 24 0
Bruni is just a machine. Unreal. Thought Troy had it.

I feel bad for Troy. But mainly for those bikini/diaper pants butt color scheme. Super good racing.

"Zee Demeaux not so bad a bike, eh?"

Get well Bulldogg!!

Use a VPN or turn your location services off. The latter trick was used by a buddy that said worked.
  • 1 0
Use a VPN ripper. Select a server outside of the country. Canada will work. ;-)
  • 2 0
I"m getting that too. Hope they fix it.
  • 3 0
NBC Sports has the rights in the US. To watch XC yesterday I had to VPN through a different country (Mexico). Of course, not everyone has a VPN setup. It's a bummer.
  • 11 0
Redbull TV app on my iPhone is streaming fine. No need for a VPN.. for me at least.
  • 11 0
UCI sold out to NBC ib USA.

The Browsec Chrome VPN extension is very slow from NL > US so do this:

Install the Opera browser with VPN. Go to browser Settings > Privacy and Security > Turn VPN ON > enjoy smooth streaming with Rob and Claudio. Womens starting soon. Hurry.
  • 1 0
@davzx: error loading content... let me see about that VPN I got for my bday 2 years ago from my dad. LOL
  • 1 0
@mtbswindler: try downloading Melon VPN - it’s free, App Store. Run that then load Redbull TV app.
  • 2 0
I just got the stream to work after downloading Epic Privacy Browser. I switched my region to Netherlands and it's streaming fine in high quality. I downloaded Browsec and never got it to work.

In the spirit of dumb political comments in Brooks article... you don’t get live stream...cuz socialism
  • 2 0
Another way to watch: Using the redbullTV app on an Iphone w/o your WIFI (mine saves my location), then airdrop to another apple device.

Right now I have the stream coming to my phone, airdropped to my AppleTV to watch it on the big screen w/sound system. A Mac computer would work just as well.

Still, hope this whole fiasco changes.
  • 1 0
@davzx: That's also working well on the small screen.
  • 1 0
The Red Bull TV app is working on both my phone and tablet, I’m not near a computer to try the Red Bull website.
  • 3 1
Rob just said that this isn't even a Red Bull TV production. They are relying on the feed they re given so there are some odd dead moments of landscape.
  • 2 0
@endlessblockades: got the Opera Browser to work thank you.
  • 4 0
@endlessblockades: That's probably why we see one girl start and then 3 seconds later the next girl start. Then a clip of her half way through the track, then back to her start again. Feed cut from 19th to 16th rider. Hope it's not like this for the men and top women...
  • 2 0
@endlessblockades: Yes, the local cycling body for the race(Cycling Canada) chooses the broadcast production company for the world champs. So it won’t be the usual Red Bull Europe production team.
  • 1 0
Picture quality is a lot better on iPhone now. oh well at least it's well watchable
  • 2 0
Same here. So fucking lame. Using a VPN now but can only stream at 180p. I can stream youtube 1080 no problem. Worst streaming platform ever! Im ready to pay for it at this point.
  • 1 0
@davzx: thanks! i had no idea about this app!
  • 3 0
@slayerdegnar: I'd be more than happy to pay $5.00 USD per race. I think with all the people in the world that watch, the extra income can go a long way of improvements. Then offer like $30.00USD for the season, I'm sure plenty would pay.

Top that with a couple adds from big companies and we just might have a professional production on our hands! ...If only.
  • 2 0

I would really know what all the other girls are thinking. Being beaten by someone who won a gold medal doing a chicken line should make me think a lot about my racing skills Smile
  • 4 0
The chicken line allegedly cost around a second so that was that, but I particularly wonder how Tracey Hannah feels. You sort of see a natural order being restored here, with Nicole and Seagrave back to being fastest, with Cabirou, who has been getting faster and beat Hannah recently, in third. Still she should win the World Cup
  • 2 0
@The-Foiling-Optimist: tracey had two bad crashes in practice and it showed. i don't blame her. it's quite hard to take things at full speed when you've got recent crashes weighing on you, as well as probably a lot of pain.
marine also excels in rock/tech, vs. tracey excelling in high speed and jumps.
  • 8 0
France getting 3 out of 4 gold medals in elite. That's nuts..
  • 2 0
Good old days flavor Wink Very nice championships!
  • 4 0
Such a crazy race again! As a frenchy I m glad to see Bruni got it again but what I enjoy even more is to see Minaard, Greenland, Hart, Bruni, Vergier, Pierron and Brosman challenging each others. Thank you guys for the show!

 Year 2030 Jeopardy Question:

He is the only member of UCI MTB Hall of fame who never won a world cup?

So gutted I really thought he had it!

P.S. I know there is a MTB hall of fame but here is a request to have a World Cup hall of fame. It should be in Garibaldi or Squamish. Most who are coming to whistler for MTB would stop by so you could get a lot more visitors than Marin MTB Museum. You can also have previous bikes and other paraphernalia like the Devinci that Stevie won the WC overall or the chainless bike that Gwen won his WC. Damn I would pay to see those and more. Make it happen!!
  • 6 2
Greg, Danny, Laurie, Amauri all deserved to win. But Loic raised himself to new heights. Too achieve that with the pressure of the overall, defending the stripes and the background of Brook's serious crash show his head is unbreakable. A conservative run would have been forgiveable, but we got greatness instead. Outstanding.
  • 4 0
Am I the only one who didn’t see any of Matt Walker’s run only to have him hold the hot seat through the entire broadcast? I was watching since about midway through the women’s elite. Did they skip over it?
  • 2 0
I saw both respective Matt Walker's runs. Obviously being so early the kiwi's run only had a small cut.
  • 3 0
In case you were wondering: Gwin in 12th, Mullaly in 23rd and Maes pulled off 20th.

Hart’s consistency is phenomenal this year, and while he may not take the top spot overall he’s gotta be close to it. Aside from Les Gets he’s been top 5 every race, something only Pierron and Bruni challenge.
  • 2 0
you're forgetting about brosnan, who has also podiumed in all but one (and got 6th in that). the world cup rankings are covered at every world cup. loic is in 1st. danny is in 4th.

Bad crash in practice, fractured vertebrae.
  • 3 0
Kate posted on Instagram that she crashed in morning and fractured her first vertebrae (C1: the atlas). Yeah, that's not so good.

I find it very interesting that Holl is sponsored by KTM, I know they are an Austrian company and that is where she’s from, however they do make their own line of mountain bikes..
  • 7 0
It's the national jersey of Austria, it's not like Vali is sponsored by KTM but they are sponsors of the national team
  • 3 0
They used to make MTBs, I don't know if they still do.
  • 2 0
Just checked, they are making bikes according to their website (dated 2019)
  • 2 0
 @kazwei ah. Good looks sir
  • 2 0
@kazwei: Well KTM is also a direct sponsor of the biggest austrian party Wink
  • 5 0
Don't know it for shure but I think that the KTM sponsoring Austrian team is producing dirtbikes and not bicycles (KTM bike industries) as they are separate companies that have the same logo.
  • 1 0
@vid1998: Exactly, the bicycle KTM brand pays KTM motor bikes to use the name.
  • 1 0
@theronsta they do make mntb bikes never really see any around though.
  • 2 2
For people in the US (or any other country where you can't see the RedbullTV broadcast) download "Hola! VPN" from the Chrome web store. Open the broadcast, click on the extension (flame with a smiley face) and select UK as your country. Works as a charm!
  • 1 0
It's also working great in epic browser with location set to Germany.
  • 4 0
Wow, trop content pour Myriam ! Incroyable retour ! #Pomponsback
  • 2 0
bizarre that NBCSN would pay good money for broadcast rights and not bother to broadcast. WTF. i get NBCSN on my cable package. this is an outrage i tell ya...

Watched it all afternoon , great then it stopped on A Peirrons run ,went back to top ten then kicked in with Bruni celebrating the win .
So I missed the whole top four ????????????
  • 2 1
0.581 seconds is way further than touching distance at anything close to the gun speeds those two laid down... unless you're a giraffe, maybe. (Wasn't this in a Sunday comic a few weeks ago?)
  • 3 0
That's some tight racing in the Men Juniors!!
  • 1 0
This blows that I can not watch this on redbull TV in the USA. There is paid programming on cooking on NBC at the moment....FML

Is this actually being broadcast????????????? In the UK and the screen shows "live now", Broadcast will begin soon. Which is it??????
  • 1 0
All i have is this, which will show the replay, but i can't find a live feed either.

www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b095szlg/episodes/player
  • 1 0
You can watch it on Redbull TV, for some reason they are now showing it in the UK. Coverage is a bit dodgy though!
  • 1 0
@treborfields: Will take a look. Just realised my browser has a VPN feature built in haha

*Yep.. its ok

www.redbull.com/int-en/events/uci-mountain-bike-world-championships-2019/live/uci-mtb-world-champs-2019-downhill
  • 1 0
@shredright: Ya the built in VPN usually better and free. Imagine people paying for vpn's these days. The replay is on now if anyone missed it, bonkers race.
  • 2 3
Not sure I follow the timing/editing: right after a rider starts they are already at 2Mad x minutes? Where did those minutes come from? Do they count their qualifying time and then add to that when they start at the gate? Or are you not seeing the upper part of the course?
  • 1 0
You aren't actually watching live, there is quite a big delay which allows them to shorten the runs for TV. The early riders get very little footage whilst the top 20 get more airtime.
  • 1 0
@Davec85: that's TV reality for you
  • 3 0
Pompon won it even without that final jump. Magnificent!
  • 4 1
Absolute shit live edit, what a joke!
  • 3 0
I'm picking Laurie Greenland to take it
  • 1 0
 oh ffs!
  • 1 0
 @Ian713: so close
  • 1 0
@Dropthedebt: He was on target too!
  • 1 0
Whoever decided we weren’t allowed our normal commentators needs to pull their finger out of their arse and reassess things for next year
  • 1 0
It's been same same for the past 6 years... Doubt they'll change up a "good thing"
  • 1 0
 Who are the normal commentators?
  • 2 0
@ButtersNZ: It's changed yearly almost, but at Cairns they had that girl that often commentates the cycling at the Olympics and Commonwealth Games...from what I can recall, she was a retired roadie, and she (and her male cohort) only seemed to have the media fact sheet to go from; they would say the same irrelevant fact every other lap! It was better on mute.

At least towards the end of the DH today, the two guys were getting somewhat animated. But earlier on...crikey!

It would be much better with Rob...you can take or leave whoever he is with, but at least Rob has knowledge and actually sounds like he has a pulse
  • 3 0
 Who else. Incredible, Superbruni.
  • 3 0
Really gutted for Troy and happy for Bruni. Right in the feels.
  • 3 0
Ahhhhh what a race! Troy & Loic really were a step above the rest.

  • 3 0
@Greghoin: Damn feel bad for him, he's been killing it this year but had so many issues with bikes and crashes. Bet you next year he's gonna be straight there with some top 10s in the elites!
  • 2 0
@macimecdufour: definitly, he need to use this as a motivation for next year.
  • 1 0
Is the live on or not ? Don’t know if in Switzerland we have access or not ...
  • 1 0
Hi guys, how can I watch it live in South Africa? Red Bull is blocked here...Thanks!
  • 2 0
Is red Bull live feed not working?
  • 1 0
NBC on hulu blows with their live coverage. They show the XC live but then go to track and field instead of the DH...
  • 2 0
Omg, omg...what a mental race! What a roller coaster!
  • 1 0
After Brosnan I thought: That’s it.
Bur Bruni was in a League on his own. Again! Amazing

  • 1 0
How come the live stream on red bull won't work in the US?
  • 1 1
f*ck nbcsn and the whole us money sys. -> Install a VPN extension(free) in your web browser, pick a country from the uci list(such as Canada),
Enjoy!
  • 1 0
@cholla: not working in Canada either ..
  • 5 0
@cholla: Enjoy the start ramp, the deck, and the last 3-4 turns and jumps. That's all they show..none of the good parts. Watching DH racers hit jumps is like watching paint dry. I want to DH racers rally tech. If I wanted jumps I'd watch slopestyle or something similar...
  • 4 0
@DhDWills: so true, 40 sec per racer sprinting at the top and final jump is pathetic
  • 1 0
I only got it to work on my phone redbull tv app.
  • 1 0
@DhDWills: For the early riders. They start too close together to show much.
For the contenders they showed the whole thing from 2 minutes down. Wish they had cameras at the top, but oh well.
  • 1 0
Does anyone know if there is going to be a replay? And if yes when?
  • 1 0
There was of the XC but unless you used one f the tricks it still didn’t play in the US. The best one so far was using a device to use the app that has never has location services turned on. Turning it off didn’t work but using a new device worked.
  • 2 0
Replay going on now, use a VPN attached to your browser. Selected Netherlands and let me in, wait 5 mins then turn VPN off. Then your using your full internet speed, works perfect, eat me raw NBC. Probably going to have to do this for Snowshoe also. My usual sites that work for NFL had the race but denied me access. VPN the only way but live in 1080p in NBC's face.
  • 1 0
Red Bulll TV working here in KY
  • 5 5
Not even worth watching. They show the start and then they show 4 minutes into the run and the finish.
  • 1 0
Had to watch it on my redbull tv phone app, it worked great. but don't understand why it wouldn't work on apple tv redbull app? they really f-ed up the broadcasting on this.

Can DH ever make the Olympics? Seems unlikely.
  • 2 1
Anyone got a link where I can watch the race?
  • 4 1
Never mind, Opera works for me. Fuck NBC, Fuck UCI. This coverage issue in the US is the ultimate in corporate mismanagement. Penalize the fans of a new school sport so that a handful of drunk baby boomers might catch 30 seconds of a bike race they don't care about before they channel switch back to Fox News.
  • 1 0
Well done danny and greg!! Old guns never get rust!!
  • 1 1
I hope the never have another race in Canada or the us this is bunch of crap not being able to watch.
