So glad to see Richie back on the podium!
  • 46 3
Not only did he win - he clean swept this race. Pretty impressive! Cool to see him dominating again!
  • 38 2
He swept the stages too! Hopefully he can carry this into next year and we get to see an epic battle between Hill, Maes and Rude!
  • 20 1
Rude crushed it , congrats to him and Hill for the overall!

@westeast: and Dailly.. will be awesome

Hill takes the championship on 27.5 wheels and flat pedals! AGAIN!
  • 11 0
 @robysvk: sorry mate your wrong.
Peanut butter and jam sambos all the way.
  • 6 2
@ColquhounerHooner: f*ck yes pbj and f*ck yes flats for the overall again. Wheel size is a futile debate.
  • 5 0
New bike, two wins for Richie.

@TheR: geometry means nothing...unless your riding a small bike with iffy kinematics. Glad to see he's on board.

Time to give some refunds to the sb5.5 buyers who fell for the marketing!
  • 1 0
 @Trailstunter: ha
  • 8 4
@thesharkman: Nah. Nothing wrong with the 5.5. The 150 is Enduro AF, though. Head tube two degrees slacker, more reach. A beast of a bike. You need to be a strong rider to handle this one. Most mortals would do just fine with the 5.5.
  • 6 2
@TheR: The 130 is the new 5.5 except climbs better... This coming from Nate hill via the gram!
  • 1 2
@bohns1: Understood. I’d still like that extra 10 mm of travel.
  • 2 3
@TheR: perhaps but it apparently feels like far more travel than the numbers suggest.. Can't wait to rip one.
  • 3 0
@TheR: the 130 is calling me. Gonna list my 5.5 within the coming weeks
  • 2 1
Seems like the new 29er made the difference last few starts.
  • 6 0
@thesharkman: Didn't Richie win round 3 on the sb5.5 earlier this year? Seems like a bike that was winning EWS overalls as recently as a few months ago is probably pretty good. Maybe not all marketing?
  • 3 2
Nukeproof better work on a water bottle for Sam next year.
  • 1 2
 @chyu: Post of the week.
  • 2 2
@bohns1: This!, guy above comparing the 150 to the 5.5=clueless!
  • 3 0
@chicane32: Not sure who you're referring to, but I'm not comparing the 5.5. to the 150. Someone did make the comparison between the 5.5 and the 130, which is fair. All I was saying was:

1. The 5.5 was a solid, legit bike -- not marketing hype.

2. The 150 is a seriously aggressive bike. It took "enduro" geometry to the next level. You better know how to handle a bike if you ride this, much like you need to be an advanced skier to ride stiffer, longer skis. I don't see anything wrong with this -- there are a lot of people it will be a good fit for. I do not think I'm one of them.

3. I personally, would prefer to ride something in the middle -- I like the travel on the 150, but the geometry seems a little extreme. The geometry on the 130 is a little closer to what I like, but my perception is the travel is a little short. I'd like something in the middle, which leaves me with the 5.5. But hell, I'd be willing to give the 150 and 130 both a try.

  • 17 2
meh...rude won it two years in a row, now Sam has...and since rude won three competitions and Hill four (and maes one), I’m guessing they all have skills...

Sam Hill, 2 years in a row - Australian icon.
  • 14 0
Too bad he isn't known outside the MTB community in Australia. Because he deserves to be. In any other sport a multiple world champ would be all over the Aussie media
  • 3 0
@Riwajc: good luck to any other sport bar afl and league getting a mention by the media this week. Next week is Bathurst so good luck to any other sport getting a mention then as well.

Congrats to Hill for winning the overall and too bad that Maes injured his hand on Stage 1 and had to abandon. Most impressive to me is Kevin Miquel, 4th last weekend and 3rd this weekend. He is going to be a hot prospect for one of the big teams next year. Going to be a great season next year with Hill, Rude, Maes along with some dark horses like Miquel battling in each race and for the overall. Crazy how tight times have gotten over the last few years.
  • 2 0
The new Sunn is sick so he might stay with them
  • 14 1
Looks like as long as it does not turn into the "Enduro Wet Series" and stays dry Rude is still the top dog in the dry loose conditions.
  • 43 4
Yes, but may be Hill was really taking it easy last couple rounds ?!

"Update on Maes
We’ve just had an update on that hand injury we reported Maes picked up on stage 1 – he clipped a tree and has hurt the outside of his hand. It sounds like he’s pretty hurt and is riding the liaison with an ice pack on his hand – he’ll decide whether he’ll carry on with the race when he gets to stage 2.

Poor Martin, after his wins at EWS Whistler, then the La Bresse Downhill World Cup and then that 2nd place at the DH World Champs in Switzerland he’s been on a roll. We hope he can shake it off and finish the season, it would be heartbreaking for him to go out now"

Wonder if Hill's moto hand guards would have saved him.

Martin interview here @ 08:25 (sorry whole video in French):

I just want to point out that there is a rider named Guy Beer. Absolutely amazing, Rude may have won the race, Hill the overall, but Beer won the day...
  • 5 1
Congrats to everyone! Such great racing really deserves some kind of live coverage. Even if it isn't something it is still better than nothing.

How about Bruno Zanchi in 2nd place Masters? IIRC he was Junior World DH Champ in 1992?

@Vincent66 @makripper @Dustfarter and anyone else who's wondering, as @SMASH3D and @salespunk mentioned, Martin hit a tree in Stage 1 and sustained a hand injury that forced him to sit out the race. Frown

Isabeau Courdurier is giving Cecile Ravenal a run for her money. Just under 7 seconds behind after a full day of racing.

With the image posted, I thought Cody Kelley won!
  • 2 0
Most boring action of that guy ever!
  • 6 4

The Women`s 1st place (Ravanel) is equivalent in time to the 130th in Men`s (random dude). I had not realized that there was so much difference.
  • 4 0
Pretty typical in mountain biking. Rachel Atherton normally wouldn't even qualify for the men's races. And she's incredible.
  • 5 1
If you look at some names in the 120-130th you ll see they are not so random. The field is pretty stacked.
  • 2 3
She's also had races where she'd be much more competitive in the men's field. Judging by her margins against the other female riders, she probably took this round a little easy or generally struggled by her standards.
  • 1 0
@bulletbassman: Finale average level is also higher.
  • 1 0
This is Cecile's 3rd straight EWS title. Nothing left to prove as she is already one of the all time greats. It's hard to stay motivated when you dominate for such a long time. Will she focus more on DH or go back to XC?

 How did Adam Price do?

I was wondering that too. I don’t see him in the results anywhere.

That looks pretty rough. Wonder what he injured
  • 1 0
@Jvhowube: his hand was twice the size it should have been in a pic I saw on I think it was his personal IG page. Not sure if it was broken or not but definitely would have been hard to hold the bars the way it looked. Looking forward to seeing what he does next season.
  • 6 3
@islandforlife: literally anyone who watched the privateer won’t be surprised that he binned it. Loose as f*ck that lad but would be a decent rider if he toned it down a bit because he definitely knows how to ride.
  • 3 3
Gutted for Maes... after such an awesome season... he deserved better this race... Congrats to Rude, finding his mojo back... Next year's gonna be awesome... Top dogs Hill, Dailly, Maes, Rude... it will be awesome!

I'm pretty disappointed there was zero coverage pre and during the race, from what i could scope out anyway. I look forward to a full wrap up video.
  • 1 0
I'll take some of that back, i see the course preview video and the location write up.
  • 1 0
Yeah they’ve not really put the effort in this year. Last seasons was good I really enjoyed that one. Loads of coverage from races nothing this year. Can see it dying off soon if they don’t do more to promote it.
