Freehub Magazine & Trailforks Raise Over $4k for Montana Trails

Freehub Magazine s Photo Book Release Party and Fundraiser

Last month Freehub Magazine and Trailforks hosted a night of celebration for Montana trails at the Montana Photo Book Release Party and Fundraiser. Hosted at Lewis & Clark Brewing in Helena, MT, the night featured live music from the Riot Act, raffles, a silent auction for prints from the magazine and of course, plenty of ice cold suds. We were able to raise $4,418 for the trails thanks to ticket sales, a $2000 donation from Trailforks and a $1 donation for every beer sold by Lewis & Clark Brewing (totaling $480, apparently bikers like their beer!)

Proceeds from the night will go to the following trail organizations to continue to advocate for, build and maintain MTB trails in Montana! If you'd like show your support for these organizations, you can donate at their linked Trailforks pages and earn yourself some always needed Trail Karma. Yee-haw!

A big thanks to Lewis & Clark Brewing, Trailforks.com and everyone who came out and celebrated with us! We also want to thank Industry Nine, Bell Helmets, Blackburn, Trail Boss, Transition Bikes, High Above and POC for generously donating items to our raffle.

This summer, Freehub Magazine selected four local photographers to document some of Montana's most amazing towns and trails, comprising the Montana Photo Book. Photographers Nick VanHorn, Tom Robertson, Reid Morth and Jason O'Neil were tasked with documenting the trail systems surrounding Whitefish, Missoula, Big Sky and Helena, capturing the experience and vibe that fill the mountains of Montana. Issue 8.3, the Montana Photo Book, is a visual guide to the trails of the Treasure State. Save 40% on a subscription to Freehub Magazine with our Pinkbike Shared Reader Discount.
While Big Sky Country is know for its expansive views it s the details that make the trails so incredible including extensive armoring deep berms and like this boardwalk on Ralph s Pass some impressive woodwork. Jed Donnelly appreciates the finer points of Montana mountain biking.

After conquering the climb on the Mount Helena Ridge Trail Keenan Cox Dan Barry and Brian Elliott drop into a mellow flowy descent through the pines. Keep your eyes up though a few steep and loose sections await farther down. Photo Jason O Neill as seen in Freehub Magazine s Montana Photo Book

Deadman s Ridge one of Blue Mountain s longtime classics descends 3 000 feet over four miles starting at a USFS lookout and ending along the Bitterroot River. It s easy to let it rip as the only uphill traffic is the occasional motorcycle. Dave Hartman kicks up some dust on his way to the valley floor. Berms are the name of the game on Kashmir. Travis Adams keeps his eyes up and his speed high while ripping into another one of the trail s signature features. Photo Nick VanHorn as seen in Freehub Magazine s Montana Photo Book
