 That tailwhip was dirty

Brings me back to the days when Paul Bas used to tailwhip his big freeride bike in the NWD segments and at Rampage, good old days !

Freeride may not be dead but whatever I rolled in today on my walk certainly was and I believe my tail was doing a dirty whip as well.

busdrivers skids and slow mo . it was like 4 clips for 7 angles .. meh

so freeride is just like mountain biking, but with one size bigger jersey?
  • + 7
Good observation that freeriding is just riding park trails in a jersey that's to big. I have been categorizing myself as a freerider for years thinking it was taking raw terrain and scratching in lines and lips on a big mountain I hike up, with my bike on my shoulder.

 Parkriding certainly aint dead.

@buffart ton pyjama il est trop grand ! Sinon belles images de randonnée ...
  • + 32
Google translation: your pajama is too big! Otherwise beautiful pictures of hiking ...
  • + 4
@Isey: Thanks for translation, my comment was basicaly for Antoine so in french ;-)

And here pyjama is about his jersey and "images de randonnées" could be translate by "cruising shots" as in french "randonnée" is use for hinking but also when you just cruise your mountain bike.

By the way, Antoine's riding has always been sick to watch, as long as i know him ...

Can someone explain what 'Freeride' is?? I thought it was the equivalent of off-piste skiing/boarding.. Isn't that just shredding the trails???
  • + 10
Freeride IS off piste and will always be off piste. Ripping the bikepark or trails is not nor will ever be freeride no matter how fast you go or how cool you look. It is like using an enduro bike for trail riding. Enduro is a race format not a type of riding...

The term "freeride" originally came from snowboarding where it still means to ride the whole mountain, not just the park, halfpipe or groomers. It also usually means you're riding a slightly longer, stiffer and more powder-friendly board that allows you to ride anywhere and anything.

This is also how "freeride" in mountain biking came to be. Depending on where you lived, it meant different things. For some it translated to what you state, off-piste, big mountain lines and drops. For others, like those on Vancouver's North Shore it meant technical trails and features mixed with huge airs and jumps. Still others, it was jumping off city stairs, riding ledges and shredding urban buildings.

Thought I was witnessing the first dual crown barspin there for a second!

Damn, whenever I watch a video with Vincent T it's so bad ass. He rides so loose and with so much steeze. So jealous of his riding style!

Been thinking about getting a voltage for the winter as I’ll be mostly riding bike park. Anyone know of anywhere in the UK that has a demo/ rental fleet?
  • + 2
Evolution cycles on the south coast I think.

If your frame cracks, on a weld, they won't replace it if it is out of warranty.

@foxphotog: did you buy a bike in the UK?
  • + 3
@cunning-linguist: damnit that’s a bit far for me!
@SCOTT-Sports any ideas where I can try a Voltage in the UK closer to the midlands? Wales would be ideal as that’s where it’ll be ridden if I buy one..

Does anyone worry that these monthly reminders that Freeride is still 'alive' might actually kill it?
  • + 3
 Fast, fun, freestyle, fuck!

0:49 is a suntour fork that transforms into a BOS fork !

 He's got a great mechanic.

So sick! Now where's the freeriding? I only saw berms and jumps on manicured dirt...
  • + 1
Do all bikes wobble that much in slow motion? That thing vibrates like a javelin when it takes off.
  • + 1
Freeride today seems like a smaller and faster version of what it was. We got the same bikes just 10 lbs lighter now

What I don't understand why he is never invited to rampage
  • + 12
 M8 he's going this year!
  • + 2
Vinny, Gaetan, and myself dug Nico's rampage line! Stoked to hear you're in Vinny!!!
  • + 1
@SCOTT-Sports: YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS Finally. Absolutely my favorite rider to watch.
  • + 1
@dirtbagluvin: could we stop talking about that please. Not really proud of it :-) :-) :-) Vinny is probably happy I'm not helping him. Gives him a chance to reach the bottom

@ReyGaetan: you were an absolute beast! Hanging off that rope for dayyyyyys! Great work lately. Very much enjoying your videos. Cheers!
