Everyone on the East Coast would appreciate it if you could post the Friday Fails video at 7 am Eastern Standard Time. I am highly unproductive until I see the Friday Fails and none of us can start our Friday until watching Friday Fails on repeat 5 times. Thank you for your attention to this critical matter.

Kids crash = buddies laughing and all's well
Middle age men crash = serious situation

I started riding casually at around the age the kid at 2:36 is, looks to be 14, wasn’t until 17/18 until I started taking it a bit more seriously and focusing on time down the mountain rather than just messing around and riding Uber casually, but at age 14 to age 18 you just kinda bounce when you have a big off. Much more flexible and bones are made out of rubber and magic.

Also, the two crashes at 2:20 (bike in the back) and 2:26 (getting highsided and boosting out of the berm) were brutal!

what about all the animal cruelty - so many scorpions were thrown in the making of this edit
  • 47 0
cased the jump only to have your buddy spear you in the back for the ultimate finishing move **brutality, match win**

I really want to know how that guy ended up, along with the poor lady hitting the tree at 2:32.
  • 27 0
The laughing cameraman is always my favorite part.
  • 11 0
 the chuckle/snort @ 0:22 was just perfect

I love a good foliage crash. Bushes, ferns, grass, they're all entertaining and usually more of a laugh for all parties. Trees, not so much fun.

After yelling do it ! Do it !

This week’s theme: actually landing it but then being so surprised that you crash anyway.
  • 18 1
I can't be the only, but out of the three weekend video compilations, this one will always be king.

I don't even bother with the others

2:25, I give her props for trying. But that section of no joke is no joke. Then to follow up with the carnage at 2:30, that was the most brutal 10 seconds of my day.
  • 10 0
You beat me to it. Those two clips, first with the guy hitting a gap and then almost landing on his buddy's back, and then the young lady almost dying on a slab, came perilous close to being included in the "Friday Fails - C5 fracture edition" edit.
  • 3 0
Right on. Shit got real at the 2:25 mark
  • 3 0
I could not agree more. Those two back to back were brutal.
  • 1 0
Ahhh I thought that looked familiar.

Thank you PB. The lack of logo on the last clip was nice, hope it's a regular thing.
  • 2 1
If you subscribe to Outside you'll get logo-free FF, SS and SS

I always wonder if someone at Pinkbike needs to edit lots of these videos to crop out the bit where riders are screaming in pain, or if those bits get edited out before submission! It's not a job I would enjoy!
  • 9 0
 YEAH SHER-MAN!!
  • 3 0
What propelled the guy at 2:32 to fly off the bike like that after his hard landing from the drop? I can't imagine suspension rebound would kick you back hard enough to yield that much airtime. I don't see another trail feature...very perplexed.

It's the newest in safety gear, the "Spenco Asspring" ejection system built into the custom seat. It's designed to eject the rider away from imminent harm. Many bugs to be worked out and I hope to see PB do a full review of this system soon.

I think he blew his foot when landing and went square into a berm which then acted as a kicker. Like worst case scenario right there, he checked that tree hard.
  • 1 0
@tipsword: I love this comment. A much needed laugh.
  • 2 0
@TurboTorsten: Yep that would do it. The viewing angle made it hard to discern that there was a berm on the far side of him.
  • 6 0
opening clip is the actual title sequence (minus explosion)!
  • 4 0
@1:40, well I see your problem right there - That's too wet of a forest for a New Mexico jersey

While I wait for Ben Cathro's tutorial on jumping (and after watching other "how to jump" videos), any quick diagnoses of the failed effort starting at 0:32? I ask about that one because the speed seemed OK, but he ended up with the classic dead sailor's outcome.

My guess is the rider did not compress/pop properly/at the right time when taking off and/or did not pull the handlebars toward him upon leaving the jump to allow for then pushing the handlebars away to level off the landing.

But those are thoughts from someone who is still learning to jump. What say those truly in the know?

That guy 'Passengered' it. In the air it's crucial to take control of the flight and not wait for the ride to end. A simple turn of the bars, a lean, a baby whip; anything to tell the horse - I mean bike - that you have the reigns. If you're along for the ride chances are you're gonna dead sailor.

 @suspended-flesh:

Thanks much for the help!
  • 2 0
@genny1: NP - your mileage may vary!
  • 3 0
I'm still learning too, so take one or many grains of salt with this, but the rider seems to be in the "back seat" when coming off the lip. I heard in at least one video that you should be standing more or less perpendicular to the ground as you leave the lip of the jump, not crouched down near the back wheel--I wish I could remember which video, but since hearing that, it seems to hold water as I pay more attention to people's posture in successful jumps. I think it might have been a Fluidride "Practice Like a Pro" video.

@barp: Agreed, seen it, can confirm. It's a darn good series. Linneah's pretty sweet.

The exact title may be "finding the arc", I think

I watched :43 a few times to determine the cause of crashing. It's a small case and he bottoms out the suspension, but I think the tire pressure is too low. Check out the front on landing.

It's a jump that looks like he could have held on.

Edit: 1:20 was brutal, that looked concussive. Blank Stare
  • 1 0
Then he let the bars twist on him and... over he goes
  • 1 0
@canuck7870: Concur, but I think low front tire pressure aggravated the situation.

 That was me Smile

Bruised kidneys and some internal bleeding, I was filming a video edit. I actually dusted myself off, saw my bike was cracked and finished the rest of the video. I was pissing funky blood/urine for a while after. Definitely my biggest crash and hope I never go through that again!

1;20 is super bad because of how steep that trail is right there, and also becuase that in no way the line through there! lol. that was actually a good outcome once she commited to that shitty, shitty line.
  • 4 0
@1:40...MVP is still trying to figure out what he did wrong
  • 3 1
Praying to your god isn't saving your friend from a visit to the ER at 2:25, A more useful thing to say would be" Siri call 911"

As a general rule, I dial 9-1 whenever someone decides to do something sketchy or beyond their skill level.

@ReformedRoadie: "Bro, are you dialing on me right now?!"

@bikeybikeybikebike: George looks up.... Uh, no. I'm looking for my moms number

1:07 can somebody please tell me what precipitated that crash? That was the most unexpected crash I've ever seen. Seemed to be on perfectly smooth trail, and suddenly *splat*.

 3:31 oh oh bobo shoulder
  • 3 0
Is this the "Detonate your clavicle" special edition?
  • 2 0
no one saying anything about the left shoulder/arm of that one at 3:32, something is out of place in there
  • 2 0
Crashing on the way into the jump means you have zero business attempting said jump...okay Mr. 1:10?
  • 4 0
Aww c'mon that looked like they just blew a foot off pedalling in, or maybe snapped a chain. It happens. I reserve judgement until I see them horrendously case or dead sailor onto their collarbone. Then we can all agree they should have listened to you.
  • 1 0
This seemed to be the most brutally violent episode yet. Also, I won't be surprised if the kid laughing at 2:38 grows to be a serial killer.
  • 2 0
Yup, Friday 13th doing its thing, living up to the hype
  • 2 0
@2:22, my greatest fear when ever following anyone i dont know on Aline..

From which planet does the guy at 1:40 comes? From one without gravity for sure. What was he thinking?
