Do you love the trails on Fromme?

In 2007/2008 A Final Draft of the Fromme Mountain Sustainable Trail Use and Classification plan was created. This 174 page document described the process used to manage recreation and mitigate environmental impacts. Some trails recommended for closure include Pink Starfish and Griffen Switchbacks. Some trails recommended to be consolidated include turning Grannies, Crippler and Lower Oilcan into two trails, and Digger, Lower Crippler and Boundary into two trails.

I dont know the area but considering the size of Canada vs its population mass it doesnt seem like trails could have that big of an impact. What is the damage being done? Or is it like So Cal where weeds have more rights than citizens?

i don't really see how they can "close" a trail...what are they gonna do..send a whole pile of guys up their to rip everthing apart and destroy it all. that would seem kinda dumb.. their trails..they are now their for pretty much ever. you can't just get rid of a trail. and if they close, how are they gonna enforce that..just go up and keep riding it!?

actually they can and they will lol.

for sure ... trails can be closed. they closed some in vic bc on us, beleive me. they pay a crew of ppl to make that trail something u dun wanna ride down. its hard to even beleive it .... wish that crew had been there to help us build Big Grin

Once the city closes that trail the local mtb group wont be maintaining it anymore.

GET INVOLVED!!! Trail access is NOT guaranteed. (ask the guy from California) "The Shore" is as much home to Freeriding as Mt. Tamalpias is to the sport of Mountain Biking, and Mt. Tam singletrack has been off limits to bikes for years. Let's not allow loss of access to this Mecca!

what is intersting is that the community is doing there home work. there surveys shows that the area is use 90% by mountian bike riders. 42% carpool,36% solo and the rest cycle to the park. average age was 30 to 40 year old males. 48% come from outside the North Shore.

the facts speak for themselves.

so what is it that the facts are saying to you because i supose they could be taken either way.

When there is a group of people that make responsible use of an area. keep this area open and accessable. I seen paved trails in California,Yosemite in national park. they have telephones deep in some wilderness areas. now thats an impact

All the people who live on the North Shore should realize that the value of their houses have gone up as a direst result of those trails. Why else would a crap 1500 sq/ft Rambler/Bungalow from the 50's be worth $600,000? C'mon.

I would be very upset if a trail was closed. I would be all for it to make the trails lower impact on the environment though. Maybe we should set some sort of car pool program for mountain biking the shore or a shuttle service. Less cars less pollution. Just some ideas to think of.

or just pedal your bike up to the mountain, not so hard but i guess if you don't live near the mountain just go with alot of friends

Faultlinemediagroup.....youd be surprised how fast they can take down a trail and close it......it happened years back on the shore before....I hope NSMBA can get it all sorted out
