Ibis Cycles: Get in the Van - Video

Jul 25, 2017
by Ibis Cycles

In his latest video, Jeff finds some unique inspiration at a neighborhood garage sale, with a handy guide book to riding Vancouver Island ("Get in the Van! Vancouver Island that is!" Insider tips to discover Canada's Second Most Populated Island After The Island of Montreal by Bike"). Fly into the sunny shores, and check through the list of things to do, and best places to visit, in one of the most special places in British Columbia, Canada.

Like any trip worth remembering, be sure to take only photos (and video!), and leave only tire prints.

That was a rad video (added to favorites), and I know I'm just being a little salty, but just wanted to say the Ibis warranty dept. completely bummed me out. I had their 742 wheels on my bike for less than 4 months before the rear cracked on a tiny jump (didn't even consider it a jump at the time). They denied the warranty because the rim was scratched. The rim was "scratched", as in a rock did hit it hard enough that you could tell the rim wasn't showroom new, but it was still smooth to the touch and didn't gouge the carbon or make any indent much deeper than a human hair. Really disappointed with how the wheel held up.

Back to aluminum rims, like I should have stayed in the first place. Worrying that your wheels are going to die on a four foot jump because a rock touched them at some point is ridiculous.

Light Bicycle wheels bro! You'll blow them up eventually just like any other wheel, but they aren't seeminlgy any less burly than the brand name stuff and are a fraction of the price I must sound like a rep for this company as I've said this many times to comments like yours, but I've just gone through several wheel sets w them and have always been happy

That sounds extremely similar to me!

I was on a traverse from one part of the mountain to another at a local riding area called Tokul (the streams going up toward Flowtron/Last Frontier for those who know it) and doing a pump into the stream gully got my 741 to crack exactly at a drill hole (literally on the center line of the hole), and they basically told me to go eat a gigantic bag of dicks and it was all my fault.

I'll recommend anything they make roughly around the heat death of the universe based on their CS.

Just want to jump in and mention I've beat the sh*t out of my 741 and 742s and not had a problem.

+ JKW FTW!

 @Uberbob102000:
Were you able to find a gigantic bag of dicks to eat?

@Uberbob102000: I know the section of trail you are talking about, you can ride that on a Cyclocross bike if you wanted to

@Uberbob102000: Sounds a lot like eBay customer service!!

@rpinney206: I was on a trail in New Zealand...narrow, sheer drops, rocky/rough, tight switchbacks, I really wasn't having much fun...maybe I'd hike it. I'm slowly making my way down a really rough section, about to make yet another blind turn when around the bend a guy is climbing, not slowly, on a cyclocross....ruling that trail. Made me wonder why in the hell I'm on a 160 travel bike when this guy is riding harder than me on a rigid with narrow tires. I almost gave away my bike and flew home. Ha ha

I discovered this guys Youtube channel the other day and was mad impressed by the great content he was putting out. Love his style and how he just seems to float in the air so effortlessly. Cant wait for more!

the guy rides with insane precision and power, but just seems like a 'regular guy', not massive mtn bike athlete that he is. i bet if you met him you'd never guess.

Allot of riders like that. Ever met Wade Simmons?
  • + 4
At 3:06, is the X2 shock at full extension hitting the frame?
  • + 2
Hopefully that is just lighting. If not the carbon is not going to like that...
  • + 4
They added a small indent to the frame to clear the piggyback/controls on the X2's, but just barely.

 BRING BACK THE STACHE BRO!!!

I find it crazy that a trail like that is ridden in a half hell helmet... those jumps are bigger than most in Whistler bike park!
